Abstract

PT XYZ is a coal mining company utilizing an open-pit mining system, currently serving as the subject of this research. Every mining activity requires a disposal area to place the residual materials covering the mineral deposits. This study aims to analyze the disposal slope's stability in accordance with KEPMEN ESDM No.1827 Tahun 2018. The slope design simulations were conducted using limiting variables, like the bench angle of 35°, bench heights of 5 meters and 10 meters, and bench widths of 10 meters, 20 meters, and 30 meters. Input data comprised material properties such as unit weight, cohesion, and internal friction angle for materials including soft clay, dense clay, bund wall, and waste. The data was obtained by tests on basic physical properties and triaxial compression tests. The conditions assumed the slope was saturated groundwater level while considering the earthquake coefficient. This research employed the Spencer method for slope stability analysis, resulting in a safe and volumetrically efficient slope design with bench angle angle of 35°, bench heights of 5 meters, and bench widths of 30 meters with the safety factor 1,11.

Abstract

AbstractThe Batu Hijau Mine is one of the biggest gold-copper producer in Indonesia which operated by PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (PTAMNT). The mine site is located in the southwest corner of Sumbawa Island in the Sunda-Banda Archipelago in Indonesia. Based on the tectonic plate perspective, the Sumbawa Island lies along the tectonically active rock sequences.Refers to the geological model from comprehensive study starting from the exploration up to exploitation stages, there are four rock types that formed the slope at Batu Hijau Mine, namely volcanic rock, diorite, tonalite and young tonalite. The volcanic rock as a host rock is the most dominant material among the other rocks type which expose on the north-west, west and south wall. This study was focused on determining of the index conversion factor of the relation between uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) and point load test (PLT) data which obtained from the laboratory test result. The correlation factor for predicting UCS value from the PLT data for each rock type has shown the good correlation with the average of regression value is 0.88.  Keywords : Batu Hijau, Uniaxial Compressive Strength, Point Load Test, Conversion Factor.

Abstract

The Buol watershed is located on the northern arm of Sulawesi Island. Geomorphology in this region is controlled by developing faults. Geomorphological analysis is done to obtain objective results. Geomorphological variables can explain significantly the geomorphic process itself. The studio, field and laboratory methods is used in this research. Studio analysis consists of topographical map, satellite imagery, Ratio of valley Floor Width to Valley Height (Vf), Mountain Front Sinuosity (Smf), Drainage density (Dd), and Bifurcation Ratio (Rb) analysis. Also, statistical test is used to determine the relationship between these variables. Research area in watershed Buol has landform, namely lowland, low hills, hills, and high hill. Drainage pattern that developed namely anastomotic, sub-dentritic, sub-parallel, trellis, and sub-trellis drainage pattern. The results of the watershed morphometry analysis show calculation of the average value of Rb is 1.48 to 6.24, value of Dd average from 1.17 to 2.45., Smf value ranged from 1.6 to 1.76 and Vf ratio range from 0.5 to 1. That phenomenon shows that the Buol watershed is controlled by tectonic.

Abstract

Infrastructure development is a common thing that happened in Indonesia, especially house construction that happened in Cipatat, West Bandung, West Java. One of the important things in construction is a foundation and one of the foundation’s types is a shallow foundation. Soil bearing capacity is one of several things that used to calculate foundation planning. This research is using the Terzaghi method for soil bearing capacity. The data was obtained by taking the disturbed sample from three different locations. Those samples were tested in a laboratory, the test is a direct shear test to know about soil bearing capacity's value. The result is soil bearing capacity value range between 5.47 ton/m2 - 26.52 ton/m2. That value for soil bearing capacity is categorized as low.

Abstract

Mining, which involves extracting minerals and utilizing natural resources, requires careful planning to ensure feasibility and safety. A critical aspect of open pit mine design is slope stability, influenced by geological characteristics, slope topography, and groundwater conditions. Slope stability analysis, using methods such as the Limit Equilibrium Method (LEM), which has been popular for decades for its convenience, evaluates the potential for slope failure and provides geometric slope design recommendations to reduce risk, improve operational efficiency, and ensure environmental sustainability. The research was conducted at PT Petrosea Tbk, with the mine site in Sebakis Village, Sebuku Subdistrict, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan, PT X region. The research object is a lowwall slope that requires stability analysis to prevent landslides. The slope safety criteria are based on the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 1827 K/30/MEM/2018 guidelines, specifically 1.1. To perform the analysis, laboratory test data is required, including rock physical property tests and rock shear strength tests to obtain material property values. This data was then analysed using Rocscience Slide2 software by comparing three methods: Bishop, Janbu, and Morgenstern-Price. The analysis was conducted based on the actual conditions of each slope cut geometry. If the obtained safety factor does not meet the criteria of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Decree No. 1827 K/30/MEM/2018, then designing a geometry of lowwall slope is required. The geometric slope design used on the lowwall slope includes creating benches to flatten the slope level, and installing drain holes to decrease the ground water level.

Abstract

Bedding planes are one of the distinctive features of an open coal mine. The presence of the bedding planes can be a slip surface on a slope that has a dip direction relatively in the same direction as the bedding planes. Kinematic analysis for open pit slopes is one important aspect of the influence of the bedding planes in minimizing the occurrence of landslides. The purpose of this research is to explain the effect of the presence of bedding planes on slope stability. The method used is secondary data collection, field observations, and kinematic analysis. The results showed that the slopes of the study area were composed of sandstone, claystone, siltstone, carbonaceous claystone, and coal. Carbonanaceous claystone as a weakly layer. The rock bedding area on this slope has a strike/dip N 288 ° E / 17 °, while the slope of the research has an overall slope 29 ° and a slope dip direction N 15 ° E. The dip direction value that is relatively unidirectional between the bedding planes and the slope of the research with a difference of 3 ° can be the cause of the slip surface and is prone to landslides. Thus, the slopes of the study area have the potential plane failure so that geotechnical engineering is needed in the next mining process to ensure slope stability.

Abstract

During the implementation of the Bedugul Geothermal Power Plant (PLTP) project, Bali received protests from the Balinese people which has caused the project to be neglected until now. In addition to the rejection from the Balinese people, the Government of Bali also refused to continue the Bedugul PLTP geothermal project, where the refusal was stated in the juridical provisions of the Governor of Bali's Rejection Letter Number 660.1/1497/Bid.1/Bapedalda dated 17 October 2005 addressed to the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Mineral Resources and Bali Governor Regulation No. 45 of 2019 concerning Bali Clean Energy which emphasizes that PLTP construction cannot be carried out in the Bedugul sacred area and indirectly this has hampered geothermal permits in the Bedugul working area. The approach method used in this legal research is a normative juridical approach, research that is based on existing legal principles and also looks at the facts that occur. The results of this research reveal that the case of rejection of the Bedugul PLTP project by the Bali Regional Government can be resolved through a lawsuit  regarding unlawful act by government agencies and/or officials (onrechmatige overheidsdaad) with regard to the requirements for submitting administrative procedure at first as stated in Article 75 paragraph (1) of the Law Number 30 of 2014 concerning Government Administration.

Abstract

Generally, landslide potential can occur when a materials drifting force dominates the resisting force. A state of equilibrium is reached when the two aspects are in comparable conditions, or when the force of drift is less than the force of resistance. Spatial changes, morphological changes and changes in land use are often the cause of landslides if these changes are not properly planned and carried out without taking into account the principles of geotechnical engineering. One of the changes brought about by land use change is mining activity, in which very large morphological changes occur during the mining operation. These changes will usually have the potential to cause landslides if they are not managed in a proper and correct procedure. However, ilegal mining communities always appear and carry out mining operations without considering the principles of Good Mining Practices, so it will be quite dangerous for the environment and human beings, both in terms of potential landslide hazards and environmental damage. The purpose of this study is to determine the area and potential landslide hazard in the unlicensed community mining area using satellite imagery and slope stability analysis at the mining site. This research was conducted using a combination of geotechnical laboratory testing methods and field observations, as well as slope stability analysis, in order to determine the landslide potential at the research site. In general, the research data clearly shows that the slope formed due to ilegal mining activities has a factor of safety value in an unstable condition (0.516-1.076) with a probability of failure ranging from 15%-20%, and has a high consequence of failure status. The research data indicates that the research site is experiencing an unstable condition, which is likely the result of ilegal mining activities with the potential of landslides in the research site.
