Abstract

Non-formal education has proven to be able to improve the quality of education for the community, however, its implementation still faces many obstacles due to various limitations. Therefore, problem analysis and development efforts are needed. Based on the results of exploration, expectation data from managers of non-formal education units are needed regarding the need to foster the performance of managers in providing ideal and quality non-formal education services. This study focuses on three topics, as follows: (1) describing the conceptual model managers, (2) applying a training model, and (3) to analyze the effectiveness of the training model to improve the performance of the non-formal education unit managers. The research approach is qualitative with descriptive methods. The data collection techniques used in this research consisted of documentation studies, literature studies, interviews, and focus group discussions. The research subjects were 17 managers of non-formal education units in Bandung Raya, consisting of the managers of the Community Learning Center (CLC) and the Course and Training Institute (CTI). The research period has been carried out for six months. The results of this study are: First, improve the performance of non-formal education managers is prepared following the expectations of the manager. Second, improve the performance of the non-formal education unit managers is carried out through the planning, implementation, and evaluation stages. Third, improve the performance of non-formal education unit managers is considered effective, as evidenced by the increase in manager competence based on the results of the pretest and posttest.

Abstract

This research was conducted to obtain information about the optimization of the independent attitude from members of saving and loan cooperatives in terms of community empowerment context. This research was conducted at the KEBAL Al Muttaqien Saving and Loan Cooperative that involved the management and members as research subjects. This study uses a qualitative method with a case study approach. The information found from this research is the success of the management in implementing the improvement of members' independence by emphasizing the strengthening aspects such as material, intellectual, and management independence. It can be concluded that the development efforts have been made by prioritizing the capacity of the community to develop, be independent, and be able to manage the natural resources around them. Thus, empowerment activities are implemented so that people can participate in achieving independence. KSP KEBAL has performed its role as an empowerment agent to provide strength to the community as an empowered group. The independence of cooperative members is a measure of the successful efforts in carrying out its organizational and business activities.

Abstract

The integration of entrepreneurship education is one of competences under the lifelong education concept. Entrepreneurship gives a relevant perspective in deciding the best way for students as preparation to face the future. This study was conducted to enhance the students’ entrepreneurship through business plan competition. The method applied was qualitative method with field research approach that the information was from the research objects which were the participants. The research subjects were students of Community Education Department UPI who participated in the competition. The result showed that mentoring is a kind of accompaniment to support and encourage students in developing their business. Business developed in social entrepreneurship, both commercial and non-commercial, is related to scientific development of community education. Mentoring can encourage the aspiring entrepreneurs to facilitate marketing and to implement their developed business plan.
