Abstract

Deaf children are those with limited hearing, which affects the reception of information, including knowledge about dental and oral hygiene. As a result, many deaf children have moderate to poor debris index scores. This is largely due to a lack of awareness about the importance of maintaining dental hygiene. One strategy to address this issue is using “digital-based pop up book media,” which offers engaging and enjoyable education during the learning process. This study aimed to develop and assess the effectiveness of such media in improving toothbrushing behavior and reducing the debris index in deaf children. This research was conducted using a research and development (R&D) approach with a quasi-experimental pretest-posttest group design. The sample consisted of 22 deaf children, with 11 in the intervention group (SLBN Semarang) and 11 in the control group (SLBN Ungaran), selected using the Slovin formula. Data were analyzed using the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient, Shapiro-Wilk, Paired t-test, Wilcoxon, and Mann Whitney tests. Results showed significant improvements in the intervention group. Knowledge scores (p = 0.002, Δ = 1.36), attitudes (p = 0.004, Δ = 1.36), skills (p = 0.007, Δ = 2.91), and debris index (p = 0.000, Δ = 1.364) improved more significantly compared to the control group. In conclusion, digital-based pop up book media is a feasible and effective method to enhance toothbrushing behavior and reduce the debris index among deaf children.

Abstract

Inflammation, bleeding, swelling, pain, dry socket are common complications of tooth extraction. The inflammatory response is divided into two, including the administration of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and steroid anti-inflammatory drugs. Every use of chemical drugs has side effects. Herbal ingredients are needed, namely avocado seeds as an alternative treatment in preventing inflammation in wounds after tooth extraction. Avocado seeds contain polyphenols that play a role in inflammation in wounds, including flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, and saponins. Experiment with randomized posttest design with control group design. Consisting of intervention group nano gel avocado seed extract 10%, positive control group povidone iodine 10% and aquadest. Observations were made for 7 days. The variables studied were inflammation of the wound after tooth extraction of rats and histopathological examination (Lymphocytes, Neocapillary and Fibroblasts). Based on the results of the unpaired test, the avocado and povidone groups were not significantly different (p=0.143), the avocado and aquadest groups had a significant difference (p=0.001) and the povidone and aquadest groups had a significant difference (p =0.015). The administration of nano gel of avocado seed extract with a concentration of 10% and 10% povidone iodine has the same ability in the process of wound regeneration and increases new blood vessels and can also reduce the number of lymphocyte inflammatory cells as evidenced by histological examination . The administration of nano gel of avocado seed extract is effective and can be applied as an alternative to prevent inflammation in wounds after tooth extraction in white rats.

Abstract

Work engagement refers to the state where employees feel a deep sense of involvement in their job, have a positive outlook towards the tasks they are assigned, and feel a strong emotional connection to the organization they are working for. In order to explore the correlation between work engagement and employee performance, a study was conducted where religiosity was taken as a moderator. The data was collected from 43 employees via questionnaires and analyzed using moderation regression. The study's findings revealed that work engagement positively impacts employee performance. However, contrary to expectations, religiosity was not a predictor or moderator of performance. More precisely, further research is necessary to investigate the relationship between religiosity and performance.

Abstract

Complementary currency has been a trending issue. This is because the complementary currency can reduce people’s dependency on the government in serving the currency as a medium of exchange. However, many studies neglected the role of idle gold. Aceh is one province of Indonesia that reserves the right of special autonomy to implement Sharia. Aceh, being renowned for its fertility in the cultivation of some agricultural products such as coffee, tobacco, and palm oil, has become a strategic trade center. Aceh is also equally rich in gold mines, with the approximate result of five tons a year. This research attempts to design a model of complementary currency based on physical gold in Aceh. This study uses unstructured interviews with scholars, leaders, business people, and the government. The result reveals that stakeholders agree with the gold complementary currency, support and willing to recommend it. Besides, this model is believed to be beneficial. However, the most challenging factor is the support from the government which is essential to develop this gold currency model.
