Abstract

Cervical cancer ranks as the 2nd leading cause of female cancer in Indonesia. One of healing methods is chemotherapy, but this method still has many side e ects and also expensive treatment. Therefore, natural products discoveries need to be developed due to its important role as an alternative for anti- cancer drug. The aim of this research was to get IC50 value from methanol, n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-buthanol from stem bark of A. minahassae dan A. simplicifolia. Stem bark of A. minahassae (1.6 kg) and A. simplicifolia (1.1 kg) was grounded by methanol and its extract is successively extracted by n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and n-buthanol. Their extract’s cytotoxicity was then evaluated against HeLa cell lines. This research showed that A. minahassae’s most cytotoxic extract against HeLa cell lines was n-hexane (IC50 = 27.4190 μg/mL) and n-buthanol (IC50 = 4.3924 μg/mL). Meanwhile, A. sim- plicifolia most cytotoxic extract extract against HeLa cell lines was n-hexane (IC50 = 23.3098 μg/mL). Key words: A. minahassae, A. simplicifolia, cytotoxic assay, HeLa cell lines

Abstract

Biji nangka dan biji durian merupakan limbah organik yang belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Biji durian mempunyai kandungan serat sebesar 22,48 % sedangkan biji nangka 7,46 %, yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai pangan fungsional. Senyawa oligosakarida yang terdapat dalam kedua biji tersebut dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber prebiotik pada bakteri asam laktat (BAL). Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis efektivitas tepung biji nangka  dan durian sebagai media pertumbuhan bakteri Lactobacillus casei. Pengujian hasil fermentasi tepung dilakukan pada jam ke 0, 24, 48, dan 72 dengan dilakukan analisis jumlah bakteri, pH, total asam, dan gula reduksi. Fermentasi 48 jam merupakan waktu puncak untuk pertumbuhan  Lactobacillus casei. Jumlah bakteri pada tepung biji nangka sebanyak 3,24×1010 sel/ml, sedangkan pada tepung biji durian 3,04 × 1010 sel/ml. Nilai pH dari tepung biji nangka yaitu pH 3,8, sedangkan tepung biji durian 4,3. Total asam pada substrat tepung biji nangka yaitu 0,357 % dan 0,354 % pada tepung biji durian. Kadar gula reduksi pada tepung biji nangka 2,4658 mg/ml, sedangkan tepung biji durian 2,4925 mg/ml. Dengan membandingkan jumlah bakteri, nilai pH dan total asam diketahui bahwa tepung biji nangka lebih efektif sebagai prebiotik bagi bakteri L. casei  daripada tepung biji durian.

Abstract

Kanker dapat dicegah menggunakan antioksidan, suatu senyawa yang bersifat imunomodulator yang dapat menguatkan sel-sel yang sehat untuk menghadang kanker. Senyawa aktif yang sudah berhasil diidentifikasi sebagai antikanker yang berasal dari tanaman antara lain adalah flavonoid glikosida, tanin, stigmasterol, dan inhibitor histone deacetylase (HDAC). Senyawa ini terdapat pada beberapa tanaman misalnya sirsak, binahong, benalu dan lain sebagainya. Sampel segar daun sirsak, binahong dan benalu dihaluskan, dimaserasi dengan metanol. Kemudian ekstrak metanol dipartisi dengan pelarut n-heksan dan etil asetat sampai menghasilkan ekstrak air. Ekstrak air dipekatkan dan diskrining fitokimia kemudian diuji daya antioksidannya dengan metode DPPH ((1,1-difenil-2-pikrilhidrazil) dengan larutan kontrol berupa vitamin C. Ketiga ekstrak daun ini memiliki kandungan senyawa flavanoid, polifenol dan saponin. Diperoleh hasil IC50 daun sirsak sebesar 6,23 ppm, daun binahong 3,30 ppm sedangkan pada daun benalu adalah 33,31 ppm. Ketiga daun ini memiliki potensi untuk mencegah kanker.

Abstract

EFFECTIVENESS OF THE BLACK SOYBEAN EXTRACTS AS A FUNCTIONAL FOOD. Black soybean (Glycine soja sieb) has potential as functional food. This is because it have carbohydrates as a source of nutrition (prebiotic) for lactic acid bacteria (probiotic). This research was to determine the effectiveness of the black soybeans extracts as a medium for the growth of lactic acid bacteria, namely Lactobacillus lactis. Sampling is done on fermentation at the 0, 24, 48 and 72 for analysis of total acid, glucose levels and the number of bacteria. Analysis of the levels of lactic acid by qualitative and quantitative methods tertitrasi while total acid, glucose levels by methods Luff Schoorl and the number of bacteria using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Fermentation extracts black soybeans by Lactobacillus lactis for 72 hours of earned value increased lactic acid levels. Reducing sugar content of both the substrate decreases. The number of bacteria Lactobacillus lactis increased to 72 hours. From the data obtained is known that black soybean extract is effective as a functional food.

Abstract

Tempeh is a food made from soybean seeds processed through fermentation using Rhizopus sp. This processed food in the form of tempeh contains various nutrients that the body needs such as protein, fat, carbohydrates, and minerals but does not contain enough fiber. Therefore, fortification of rice bran and chitosan was carried out on tempeh. Rice bran is a by-product of rice milling which has a high fiber content. While chitosan is chitin that has removed the acetyl group. Chito-oligosaccharides (COS) contained in chitosan can act as natural prebiotics, preservatives, antimicrobials, lower cholesterol levels and are immunostimulants. The purpose of this study was to determine the fiber content and growth of the probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus in soybean tempeh (A), rice bran (B), chitosan (C), the ratio of soybean tempeh: rice bran (6: 3) + 2% chitosan (D) and the ratio of soybean tempeh: bran (6: 2) + 2% chitosan (E). The method used for the analysis of fiber content was gravimetric, while the growth of probiotic bacteria Lactobacillus acidophilus was used to determine the potential of prebiotics contained in samples A, B, C, D, and E. The results obtained in this study were fortification of rice bran and chitosan in tempeh had high levels of fiber and the number of probiotic bacteria cells was higher than soybean tempeh. Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discuss the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW. regarding the prohibition of wearing gold rings for men. This research method is qualitative through the approach of takhrij and sharah hadith with chemical analysis. The results of this study are the reasons why men are prohibited from wearing gold rings, and the reasons why women are safe to wear gold jewelry from a medical perspective. The conclusion of this research is takhrij and syarah hadith of Rasulullah SAW. regarding the prohibition of wearing gold rings for men in a medical view that has pros and cons, as well as a social and economic perspective. Then it is compared with other types of preparations, namely cosmetics from gold extracts regarding the safety and Islamic views regarding the use of these cosmetics.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to discuss the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad Saw. about the benefits of honey from the perspective of Islam and science. This research method is qualitative through the takhrij and sharah hadith approaches with chemical analysis. The results and discussion of this study is the benefits of honey from a scientific perspective. The conclusion of this research is takhrij and syarah hadith about the benefits of honey from the perspective of Islam and science. From a scientific point of view honey is proven to have many benefits because it contains many active compounds such as vitamin A, vitamin E, vitamin K, phenolic acids and other active ingredients.

Abstract

This research aims to discuss the hadith of Prophet Muhammad SAW. about content of zam-zam water. The research method used in the processing of takhrij and syarah hadith is a qualitative method with chemical analysis. The result and discussion of this research is that is zam-zam water is water that appeared during the period of Prophet Ismail AS. This water is believed to have many miracles and properties. There are several substances contained in zam-zam water, including sodium, magnesium, calcium, potassium, fluoride, and others. This water can also help cure various diseases. After analyzing iron content, it was found that the Fe concentration was 0,0599 mg/l at a wavelength of 248,3 nm, it is meaning this water is suitable for consumption in accordance with the drinking water standards of the Minister of Health.

Abstract

Hingga saat ini penyebaran Covid-19 di seluruh dunia belum berhenti. Banyak ahli memperkirakan wabah pandemi ini akan berlangsung lama, di Indonesia juga terjadi peningkatan kasus dan kematian yang cukup signifikan. Ada beberapa upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk mengatasi masalah ini antara lain meningkatkan daya tahan tubuh, penggunaan antiseptik dan desinfektan. Konsumsi air alkali dapat menghilangkan stress dan meningkatkan respons imun. Air asam hasil elektrolisis dapat digunakan untuk menjadi antiseptik/desinfektan. Paper ini bermaksud mendiskusikan pembuatan alat elektrolisis untuk menghasilkan air asam dan basa/alkali. Dengan adanya medan listrik, kation akan tertarik katode sementara itu anion akan tertarik ke anode. Medan listrik diperoleh dari sumber tegangan sebesar 220 VAC yang disearahkan dengan sebuah diode menjadi sekitar 100 VDC. Bahan elektrode terbuat baja tahan karat dan karbon grafit. Membran yang memisahkan anode dan katode terbuat dari kapas. Hasil elektrolisis dengan kapasitas 1400mL, selama 60 menit, diperoleh air alkali dengan pH 9,5-9,8. Sedangkan elektrolisis air mineral yang dicampur dengan sedikit air laut dan garam meja, selama 10 menit diperoleh pH 2,0 dan 2,4.
