Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

One of the main parts of a country's tourism communication is the tourism destination brand. The Indonesian tourism destination brand itself has changed several times since 2008. At that time, the brand used was Visit Indonesia 2008, then the following year it changed to Visit Indonesia 2009. Then in 2010 until 2021, Indonesia uses two brands at once, namely Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia, even though the Indonesian tourism destination in question is one, namely Indonesia's destination. In fact, the use of these two brands has not been able to show a positive performance in bringing in tourists or making Indonesian tourism destinations famous and remembered by potential tourists. Therefore, we need a study on the existence of this dual brand, which is the purpose of this scientific article The subject of this study is the Indonesian tourism brand, Wonderful Indonesia, while the object studied is the duality in the use of the brand. This study was made using qualitative methods, specifically by using literature review. The method of data collection is documentation. This study uses a narrative method in its discussion. From this study, it can be explained that the brand personality of the Indonesian tourism destination brand is still weak. This is mainly due to the dual brands Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia which have two different meanings and have not been able to represent tourist destination areas in Indonesia. In the end, this makes brand awareness, brand equity and brand loyalty are not formed. Therefore, it would be better if only one tourism destination brand can be formulated. The brand should represent various tourist destination areas and can be used consistently for a long time.

Abstract

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Pakal District experienced a decrease in sales turnover after COVID 19. Consumers choose to shop online while MSME products are mostly sold conventionally. This resulted in a decrease in MSME turnover. The decrease in turnover can be overcome by holding entrepreneurship training and an online marketing system provided to MSME players in Pakal District, Surabaya City. The training method consists of simulation, mentoring and evaluation given to 20 MSME actors in Pakal District, Surabaya City. The results of entrepreneurship training 1) increased knowledge of entrepreneurial concepts, 2) internal and external analysis of business units (SWOT analysis) and choosing online marketing strategies were immediately carried out, 3) MSME actors managed business units based on the concept of 4 pillars of management, 4) MSME actors were able to innovate on marketing systems and products. Online marketing system training increases the capacity of MSME actors to market products online using social media (Facebook and WhatsApps). The end result of the online marketing system strategy is an increase in sales of MSME products.

Abstract

This study aims to deepen the understanding of effective interpersonal communication practices in school counseling settings and to contribute to the advancement of educational communication theory and practice in Indonesia. Employing a descriptive qualitative method, data were collected through in-depth interviews and document analysis involving guidance counselors at Karangturi High School, Semarang. The findings indicate that interpersonal communication between guidance counselors and students serves as a key determinant of counseling service effectiveness. Communication founded on trust, openness, and appreciation enables the development of supportive relationships that enhance students’ motivation and academic achievement. The application of core communication components—sender, message, channel, receiver, and feedback—was effectively adapted across both face-to-face and online interactions, particularly through platforms such as WhatsApp. Moreover, principles of interpersonal communication, including active listening, empathy, and positive reinforcement, were evident in counselors’ approaches, fostering students’ sense of value and belonging. The study also reveals that personal factors (counselors’ experience and personality) and situational factors (class size, stigma, time constraints, and Generation Z’s digital preferences) significantly influence communication effectiveness. Counselors’ adaptive use of digital communication and proactive engagement strategies demonstrate their responsiveness to the evolving dynamics of student interaction in the modern era. Overall, the study underscores that interpersonal communication is not merely a technical competency but a pedagogical and emotional strategy that underpins effective counseling, holistic student development, and the creation of a more inclusive and responsive educational environment.

For eight years, this waste bank has fostered community participation, successfully reducing waste by 300-400 kg monthly and raising awareness of household waste management. Using a descriptive qualitative method and a case study approach, data were collected through interviews, observation, and documentation, with analysis based on the Miles and Huberman framework (data reduction, presentation, and conclusion). Findings indicate that activity-based environmental communication effectively sustains community engagement and understanding in waste management. This model can serve as an example for similar initiatives across Indonesia, enhancing local waste reduction efforts through community-driven strategies.
