Abstract

Education is the right of every citizen. Unfortunately, various social and economic problems cause unfortunate youths to drop out of school. Without the provision of education, these young people are threatened with difficulties in getting a job and a decent life in the future. In response to this problem, a French NGO called Life Project For Youth (LP4Y) provides assistance by providing certified informal education and training for out-of-school youth in various regions of the world, one of which is in Indonesia, in the city of Surabaya. In carrying out its mission LP4Y realizes that they do not always have experts to teach the knowledge or skills needed by the youth, so they collaborate with Ciputra University Surabaya as a partner in developing fostered youth. Specifically in this activity, the purpose of the service carried out is to strengthen the skills of young people in the field of content creation, and encourage their confidence to use these skills. The methods used include training, technology application, and mentoring. Then evaluated through surveys to participants and implementing partners. Participants who took part in the activity consisted of 15 young people. From this activity, participants have succeeded in making photo and video works that become portfolios for them to find jobs in fields that require these skills. Participants also stated that they are more confident to seek employment in fields other than administration due to the new skills they learned. Abstract

This research aims to unveil the audience’s reception of Starbucks's recent K-Pop celebrity endorsement. The movement of boycotting products that support Israel suddenly disappeared when certain K-Pop Idols showed their pictures holding Starbucks cups. Since war broke out in Gaza, social media influencers around the world have called for boycott action against Starbucks’ products. However, K-Pop celebrities were suspected of carrying out soft promotion by uploading photos of themselves holding Starbucks cups, like Jeannie from Blackpink and Super Junior’s Choi Siwon. Using Stuart Hall’s Audience Receptions analysis, this research used FGD to gain idol fans’ perspective on this phenomenon. According to fans, the factor that makes idols agree to promote Starbucks is the contractual relationship between the artist's agency and Starbucks, which requires artists under the agency to upload photos or other forms of soft selling. The impact of this soft promotion includes a decrease in the trust of fans and other brands who want to choose the artist to be their representative, as well as the loss of the opportunity to return to a career as a K-Pop artist. The South Korean government's position with the people of Gaza who are affected by Israeli army atrocities is also being questioned, which could have an impact on decreased interest in their entertainment industry.

Abstract

Abstract

One of the main parts of a country's tourism communication is the tourism destination brand. The Indonesian tourism destination brand itself has changed several times since 2008. At that time, the brand used was Visit Indonesia 2008, then the following year it changed to Visit Indonesia 2009. Then in 2010 until 2021, Indonesia uses two brands at once, namely Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia, even though the Indonesian tourism destination in question is one, namely Indonesia's destination. In fact, the use of these two brands has not been able to show a positive performance in bringing in tourists or making Indonesian tourism destinations famous and remembered by potential tourists. Therefore, we need a study on the existence of this dual brand, which is the purpose of this scientific article The subject of this study is the Indonesian tourism brand, Wonderful Indonesia, while the object studied is the duality in the use of the brand. This study was made using qualitative methods, specifically by using literature review. The method of data collection is documentation. This study uses a narrative method in its discussion. From this study, it can be explained that the brand personality of the Indonesian tourism destination brand is still weak. This is mainly due to the dual brands Wonderful Indonesia and Pesona Indonesia which have two different meanings and have not been able to represent tourist destination areas in Indonesia. In the end, this makes brand awareness, brand equity and brand loyalty are not formed. Therefore, it would be better if only one tourism destination brand can be formulated. The brand should represent various tourist destination areas and can be used consistently for a long time.
