Abstract

This research was conducted from November to December 2023 at the Production Centre of Pangkajene Fish Seed Institute, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi Province. The objective of this study was to determine the effect of the ratio of male and female broodstock on tilapia seed production, and to determine the ratio of male and female broodstock that produce the most seed production. The design used was a completely randomised design with 4 treatments and 3 replications. The data obtained were presented in the form of graphs and tables. The effect of treatment was analysed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by Tukey's test. The results of the analysis showed that the ratio of male to female broodstock had a significant effect on tilapia fry production (P < 0.05) Sig = 0.034. The highest seed production was found in treatment C (1 male: 4 females) with an average production of 71,000 seeds. Treatment B (1 male: 3 females), 51,000 seeds, treatment D (1 male: 5 females), 34,000 seeds and treatment A (1 male: 1 female) with an average production of 21,000 seeds. It can be concluded that the ratio of male to female broodstock has a significant effect on the production of nila fish fry (Oreochromis niloticus). The highest fry production was obtained in the ratio 1 male; 4 females.Keywords: Broodstock; Production; Ratio; Seed; Tilapia

Abstract

The BUMDes fish processing business unit group experienced obstacles regarding the function of packaging and how to market digitally in the sale of Dempo fish products.  The purpose of this PKM is to create the right packaging to maintain product quality; and expand product marketing areas to increase sales productivity through digital marketing. The method is carried out through training and mentoring in the form of packaging practices with the use of vacuum sealers, the creation of e-commerce sales accounts integrated into social media, and the evaluation stage of activities. The results of this community service activity show an increase in the skills of the partner group in utilizing packaging tools for Dempo fish produced (78%) so that product packaging is more attractive and supports shelf life to maintain product quality. With the packaging technology used, the knowledge of partner group members in understanding the function of packaging that affects marketing has also increased (80%). This has an impact on the increase in sales turnover received through social media owned by members of the partner group. If previously it was known that the sales turnover of this product was IDR 16 million per year or equivalent to IDR 1.3 million per month, then after the PKM activity there was an increase in sales turnover of IDR 2.1 million at the same price within 3 weeks.

Abstract

Vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) farming in Pinrang Regency faces various challenges, including high mortality rates, slow growth, and attacks by various diseases, which are largely caused by poor water quality. This study aims to assess the potential of using green mussels (Perna viridis) as a biofilter to improve water quality and, in turn, enhance shrimp farming productivity. The research was conducted in Suppa District, using shrimp ponds managed with a traditional system and equipped with water reservoirs. Green mussels were used in the biofiltration system to improve water quality. The results showed that the use of green mussels significantly reduced the concentration of heavy metals such as mercury (Hg), copper (Cu), cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and zinc (Zn) in the pond water. This improvement in water quality contributed to an increase in shrimp production to 582 kg/ha, a significant rise compared to the previous production level of 250 kg/ha and the national average of 500 kg/ha. The biofiltration process by green mussels helped reduce pollutants and created a healthier environment for shrimp growth. These findings suggest that using green mussels as a biofilter can effectively improve water quality and Vannamei shrimp farming productivity, while providing an environmentally friendly solution to enhance production yields in the shrimp farming industry in the region.

Abstract

Perubahan iklim memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap sektor kelautan dan perikanan, terutama di wilayah pesisir yang rentan seperti Kelurahan Pantai Amal, Kota Tarakan. Praktik budidaya yang kurang ramah lingkungan, seperti penggunaan botol plastik bekas, telah memperburuk pencemaran plastik dan mengancam ekosistem laut. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman warga tentang dampak perubahan iklim dan pentingnya pengelolaan sampah plastik melalui Program Kampung Iklim (ProKlim). Program ini dilaksanakan melalui lima tahapan, yaitu koordinasi dengan pihak kelurahan, penyusunan materi edukasi, sosialisasi kepada masyarakat tentang sampah plastik dan program iklim, pelatihan aksi nyata, serta evaluasi. Kegiatan edukasi di Pantai Amal meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat tentang perubahan iklim dan dampak pencemaran plastik dari budidaya rumput laut. Diskusi interaktif mendorong warga mengevaluasi praktik lama dan mencari solusi ramah lingkungan. Siswa juga berinisiatif melakukan kampanye lingkungan di sekolah. Antusiasme peserta menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan edukasi berbasis komunitas efektif membangun kesadaran kolektif di wilayah pesisir.

Abstract

Kota Tarakan memiliki potensi air tanah yang dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber air bersih oleh masyarakat. Namun saat ini pemanfaatannya masih terkendala oleh kualitas air tanah yang belum memenuhi standar baku mutu, sehingga perlu dilakukan upaya penyaringan air. Salah satu teknologi sederhana yang dapat diterapkan adalah filtrasi menggunakan limbah cangkang kerang kapah (Meretrix sp.) yang banyak tersedia di wilayah pesisir, khususnya di Kelurahan Pantai Amal. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat akan pentingnya sanitasi air bersih, sekaligus memberikan pelatihan tentang cara memanfaatkan limbah cangkang kapah sebagai bahan filter air sederhana. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi sosialisasi, demonstrasi pembuatan filter air, serta pendampingan langsung kepada masyarakat. Bahan yang digunakan dalam proses pembuatan filter adalah cangkang kapah yang dikombinasikan dengan arang aktif, pasir kuarsa, dan kerikil. Penggunaan filter sederhana ini diharapkan mampu meningkatkan kualitas air tanah hingga memenuhi standar kesehatan lingkungan yang tertuang dalam Peraturan Menteri Kesehatan Republik Indonesia No. 2 Tahun 2023. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan limbah cangkang kapah sebagai media filter cukup efektif dalam memperbaiki kualitas air secara fisik dan dapat menjadi solusi alternatif bagi masyarakat dalam mendapatkan air bersih yang layak

Abstract

Wilayah Binalatung di Kelurahan Pantai Amal merupakan kawasan pesisir yang berkembang sebagai sentra budidaya rumput laut dan destinasi wisata Kota Tarakan. Namun, pertumbuhan aktivitas ekonomi dan pemukiman di wilayah ini belum diimbangi dengan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap pentingnya sanitasi dan kesehatan lingkungan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan meningkatkan kesadaran masyarakat melalui sosialisasi, diskusi, dan pemeriksaan kesehatan dasar secara langsung kepada warga pesisir. Metode yang digunakan meliputi koordinasi dengan pemangku kepentingan lokal, distribusi media edukasi (brosur dan poster), diskusi tatap muka, serta layanan pemeriksaan kesehatan bekerja sama dengan Puskesmas Pantai Amal. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan tingginya partisipasi masyarakat yang ditandai dengan antusiasme dalam mengikuti pemeriksaan dan diskusi kesehatan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pendekatan kolaboratif berbasis edukasi langsung efektif dalam membangun pemahaman warga terhadap hubungan antara kondisi lingkungan dengan kesehatan pribadi dan kualitas hidup. Kegiatan ini diharapkan menjadi model intervensi awal yang dapat dikembangkan lebih lanjut untuk wilayah pesisir lainnya dengan karakteristik serupa

Abstract

This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to enhance the capacity of fisherwomen in Pantai Amal Village, Tarakan City, in processing fishery products into high-value economic commodities through educational-based training and outreach. The local community faces challenges in utilizing aquaculture products such as seaweed and milkfish, which are typically sold in raw form at low prices. This community service activity consists of several stages, including coordination with local leaders, collection of raw materials, dissemination of fish and seaweed nutritional information, and training in processing fishery products into seaweed dodol, amplang, and pempek. The results show that the training increased participants’ knowledge, skills, and creativity in diversifying fishery products. This service activity contributes to the development of educational science, particularly in community empowerment through nutritional literacy, household entrepreneurship, and contextual learning based on local potential. It is expected that this model of educational empowerment can be replicated in other coastal areas.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi karakteristik alat penangkapan ikan yang digunakan nelayan dan menganalisis komposisi hasil tangkapan di Kabupaten Pinrang, Sulawesi Selatan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada Bulan Oktober – Desember 2025 menggunakan metode survei dengan pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif di empat kecamatan, yaitu Mattiro Sompe, Cempa, Duampanua, dan Lembang. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi lapangan, pengukuran dimensi alat tangkap, dokumentasi, dan wawancara dengan nelayan, kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan klasifikasi Alat Penangkapan Ikan (API) sesuai Peraturan Menteri Kelautan dan Perikanan Nomor 36 Tahun 2023. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi 11 jenis alat penangkapan ikan yang meliputi kelompok perangkap, jaring, pancing, bagan, dan tembak ikan. Seluruh alat tangkap sesuai dengan sistem klasifikasi API dan memiliki karakteristik teknis yang berbeda sesuai prinsip operasi dan spesies target. Selain itu, berhasil diidentifikasi 29 spesies ikan dan organisme perairan yang menunjukkan tingginya keanekaragaman sumber daya ikan di wilayah penelitian. Penelitian ini menghasilkan basis data mengenai karakteristik alat penangkapan ikan beserta komposisi hasil tangkapan yang dapat mendukung pengelolaan perikanan tangkap berbasis data serta pengembangan pemanfaatan sumber daya ikan yang berkelanjutan.  Kata kunci: alat penangkapan ikan, klasifikasi API, Kabupaten Pinrang, perikanan tangkap, hasil tangkapan

Abstract

Traditional smoked fish enterprises play an important role in supporting the livelihoods of coastal communities. However, the highly perishable nature of fish products poses significant challenges to the supply chain, including uncertainty in raw material availability, limited coordination among supply chain actors, and distribution risks. This study aimed to analyse the Food Supply Chain Network (FSCN) of traditional smoked fish enterprises in Bone Regency, Indonesia, by examining the network structure, supply chain management, business processes, resources, product, information, and financial flows, as well as identifying key bottlenecks and supply chain risks. A descriptive research approach was employed through field observations and interviews with 38 traditional smoked fish producers selected using the census method as the primary respondents. The analysis was further supported by information obtained from other supply chain actors to provide a comprehensive FSCN assessment. The results revealed that the smoked fish supply chain consists of five main actors: fishers, raw material suppliers, smoked fish producers, retailers, and end consumers, supported by secondary actors providing production facilities and supporting services. Smoked fish producers serve as the central actors by transforming fresh fish into value-added smoked fish products. Product flows move from fishers and suppliers to producers and subsequently to retailers and end consumers. Information flows occur bidirectionally among supply chain actors, while financial flows move upstream from consumers through predominantly cash-based transactions founded on mutual trust. The business processes encompass raw material procurement, production, inventory replenishment, and customer order fulfilment. FSCN analysis identified raw material supply as the primary key bottleneck, primarily due to dependence on capture fisheries, where seasonal variation and adverse weather conditions disrupt the continuity of fresh fish supply. This bottleneck is further exacerbated by limited processing technology and quality deterioration during product distribution. These findings highlight the importance of strengthening raw material supply continuity, enhancing coordination among supply chain actors, and improving institutional integration to increase the resilience and sustainability of the traditional smoked fish supply chain in Bone Regency
