Abstract

Coleus amboinicus Lour., yang dikenal sebagai tanaman bangun-bangun, merupakan tanaman obat yang memiliki aktivitas sebagai antimikroba. Beberapa studi melaporkan bahwa fungi endofit yang ditemukan dalam beberapa bagian jaringan tanaman mampu memproduksi senyawa aktif yang serupa dengan tanaman inangnya. Schizophyllum commune merupakan fungi endofit yang berasal dari daun C. amboinicus. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji apakah ekstrak etil asetat dari fungi endofit S. commune mempunyai aktivitas sebagai antimikroba. Produksi metabolit sekunder dari S. commune dilakukan dengan metode fermentasi menggunakan Potato Dextrose Broth (PDB). Pengujian aktivitas antimikroba dilakukan dengan metode mikrodilusi menggunakan mikroba uji yaitu Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphyloccus aureus, serta Candida albicans. Nilai persen viabilitas sel mikroba dan nilai IC50 dianalisis untuk mengkarakterisasi aktivitas antimikroba dari ekstrak etil asetat. KLT bioautografi dilakukan untuk mendeteksi potensi kandungan senyawa dalam ekstrak yang mampu menghambat pertumbuhan mikroba. Ekstrak etil asetat fungi endofit S. commune menunjukkan aktivitas antimikroba yang rendah. Nilai IC50 terbaik ditemukan terhadap B. subtilis dan C. albicans (239,23 ± 20,86 dan 143,05 ± 37,03 μg/mL). KLT bioautografi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat spot penghambatan pada B. subtilis dan C. albicans. Analisis senyawa aktif dengan pereaksi semprot anisaldehid-asam sulfat menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak mengandung senyawa terpenoid. Ekstrak etil asetat dari fungi endofit S. commune memiliki potensi sebagai antimikroba.

Abstract

The water apple plant Syzygium aqueum (Burm. f) Alston is one of the plants used as traditional medicine due to its secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, steroids, terpenoids, alkaloids, tannins, phenols, saponins which can be utilized as antibacterials, antioxidants and others. This research aims to determine the IC50 antibacterial activity of the water apple leaf extract against Salmonella typhi ATCC-14028 bacteria in inhibiting bacterial growth. Extraction was carried out using multi-step maceration using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol as solvents to obtain the concentrated extracts. Antibacterial activity test was conducted by using the microdilution method on Mueller Hinton Broth media by calculating optical density (OD) values at concentrations of 500 ppm, 250 ppm, 125 ppm, 62.50 ppm, 31.25 ppm, 15.63 ppm, 7.831 ppm, and 3.906 ppm. The optical density value was measured at a wavelength of 595 nm by Elisa microplate reader. Phytochemical contents were investigated and the presence of flavonoid, phenol, steroid, and terpenoid compounds in the extracts was indicated. Water apple leaf extracts have antibacterial activity in inhibiting the growth of Salmonella typhi ATCC-14028 bacteria showing an IC50 value of n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and methanol extracts of 155,607 ± 30,592 µg/mL, 56.492 ± 50.124 µg/mL, 107.96 ± 50.124 µg/mL which is categorized as weak, strong, and moderate respectively.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can lead to various complications, both macrovascular and microvascular. Diabetes education interventions play a crucial role in DM management, as they help improve patients' knowledge and adherence to diabetes management strategies. This study involved three sessions: a pre-test, an educational session, and a post-test. Among 53 respondents, the proportion of participants with a high level of knowledge increased from 30 (56.6%) to 43 (81.1%). Meanwhile, those with a low level of knowledge decreased from 10 (18.9%) to 1 (1.9%). This increase in knowledge levels demonstrates the effectiveness of the education provided. The average pre-test knowledge score was 69.06, compared to a post-test score of 86.23, demonstrating a significant improvement. Wilcoxon test analysis showed a significance value of <0.05. Thus, the "Patuhi, Obati dan Kendalikan Diabetes" education program for participants of the Chronic Disease Management Program (Prolanis) significantly enhanced participants' knowledge levels.

Abstract

The high production of durian fruit gives an environmental problem if it is not used properly. Durian fruit skin contains flavonoids, phenolic compounds, saponins, and tannins which have antioxidant activity. Its antioxidant activity makes durian husk a candidate as a basic ingredient for natural cosmetics. Producing a formulation of scrub preparations as natural cosmetics based on the results of the characteristic test was the purpose in this research. Experimental research with a post-test design technique was carried out by making the changes of the concentration of durian husk as an active ingredient in the scrub preparations used in this study. The form of an oil-in-water cream scrub was used as the formulation in a change of concentration range of 1% (F1), 1.5% (F2), and 3% (F3) for each formula. Furthermore, the characteristic test was carried out which included organoleptic test, homogeneity test. pH test, viscosity test, spreadability test, and adhesion test. In this research also used statistica tests. The results showed that the best formulation is obtained from formulation 3 (F3) with a concentration of 3% durian rind. The characteristic test results include: stable organoleptic test for storage in terms of shape, color and odor; homogeneity test formed granules and there was no separation between the oil and water phases; Stable pH test according to skin pH at 5.05; spreadability test 7.3 cm; viscosity test 64 dPa.s; and 2.41 minutes of adhesion test. It pointed that all formulations fulfilled the requirements for topical scrubs in each characteristic test.

Abstract

The inadequate knowledge about drugs usage might be leading to emerging the unwanted effect of drugs. Ikatan Apoteker Indonesia, the committee of pharmacists in Indonesia, by their DAGUSIBU program make an attempt to overcome that problem. To increase the public knowledge, DAGUSIBU is implemented by educate public about four principal of drugs usage as how to get; how to use; how to store; and how to dispose the drugs. By establishing this program especially for the cadre of posyandu program, it is hoped the cadre might have impactful role to arising the public awareness and knowledge about drugs usage. This research is aimed to increase the knowledge of the cadre in Dasan Borok Vilage about drugs usage by DAGUSIBU program. This research was designed as quasi experimental using pretest-posttest analysis by questionnaire and education treatment as instrument research. There were 30 cadres take this program as participants. As the results, its was known that education treatment significantly enhance participants knowledge about drugs usage proven by pretest and postest analysis using marginal homogeneity test.

Abstract

Meatballs are a processed meat-based food commonly processed by adding chemical preservatives. Many reports find the usage of borax as the chemical preservative in meatballs sold in large markets on Lombok Island. However, the use of borax in the type of meatball consumed as snacks called skewered meatballs has not been identified thoroughly in East Lombok. This study aimed to identify borax in skewered meatballs in East Lombok qualitatively by curcumin paper test and flame test colors using sodium tetraborate as standard. The result showed that 4 samples confirmed positive for borax through the curcumin paper test. Two of those four samples showed the same flame color as standard corresponding to the presence of borax as a preservative in skewered meatballs tested. These results indicate that the curcumin paper test and flame color test were compatible in identifying borax in skewered meatball samples qualitatively.

Abstract

Annona muricata is a plant broadly reported to have various medicinal benefits and has been widely used around the world. The leaves are a part reported to have antimicrobial activity. This study aimed to determine the antimicrobial properties of A.muricata leaves partitioned extract against Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus aureus. The partitioned extract was obtained by liquid-liquid partition of ethanolic extract using N-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol. An antimicrobial study was conducted using the Kirby-Bauer method. The result showed that at the highest concentration model used, antimicrobial activity was shown in N-hexane partitioned extract and ethyl acetate partitioned extract. Those properties were known to correlate with some groups of secondary metabolites, including flavonoid, steroid, phenolic, and saponin.

Abstract

Tanaman jamblang merupakan tanaman yang memiliki potensi untuk dikembangakan menjadi sediaan farmasi. Tanaman ini diketahui mengandung senyawa metabolit sekunder seperti alkaloid, flavonoid, terpenoid, tanin, dan saponin. Dalam beberapa penelitian tanaman ini dilaporkan memiliki aktifitas antibakteri dan antioksidan Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sifat fisik dari formula gel fraksi n-heksan daun jamblang. Ekstraksi dilakukan menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% dan difraksinasi menggunakan n-heksan. Sediaan gel fraksi n-heksana diformulasikan menjadi 3 formula, F1 sebagai basis tanpa fraksi n-heksan daun jamblang yang berisi carbomer, propilenglikol, trietanolamin dan metil paraben, F2 dengan konsentrasi fraksi n-heksan daun jamblang 3% dan F3 dengan konsentrasi fraksi n-heksan daun jamblang 5%, sediaan gel fraksi n-heksan diuji organoleptis, pH, daya sebar dan daya lekat. Hasil penelitian pada formulasi F1 diperoleh pH 6,42 daya sebar 4,46 daya lekat 1,87 pada formulasi F2 diperoleh pH 6,37 daya sebar 5,56 dan daya lekat 2,56 pada formulasi F3 diperoleh pH 6,08 daya sebar 6,33 dan daya lekat 2,71. Dari hasi penelitian disimpulkan bahwa sediaan gel fraksi n-heksan daun jamblang F2, dan F3 memiliki sifat fisik sesuai standar sediaan gel. Pada sediaan gel F3 memilik sifat fisik terbaik berdasarkan evaluasi sifat fisik sediaan gel.

Abstract

Pengelolaan penggunaan obat merupakan hal penting yang perlu dipahami oleh setiap masyarakat terutama dalam skala rumah tangga. Tingginya angka pengobatan mandiri perlu diimbangi dengan pemahaman yang baik tentang cara yang benar dalam hal mendapatkan, menggunakan, menyimpan dan membuang obat (DAGUSIBU). Seluruh aspek tersebut harus mampu dicermati oleh Masyarakat agar tercapainya tujuan pengobatan yang optimal. Untuk mengetahui perilaku Masyarakat Desa Sakra Lombok Timur terkait dengan hal tersebut, dilakukan kegiatan pemetaan perilaku tentang DAGUSIBU melalui program KKN. Responden yang terlibat berjumlah 91 yang tersebar di seluruh dusun Desa Sakra. Diperoleh hasil bahwa masih terdapat perilaku yang kurang tepat pada aspek mendapatkan, menggunakan, menyimpan dan membuang obat pada responden. Hal tersebut dimungkinkan karena kurangnya akses informasi berkaitan dengan pengelolaan obat yang benar sehingga diperlukan intervensi lanjutan yang dapat meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kesadaran serta perubahan perilaku dalam mendapatkan, menggunakan, menyimpan dan membuang obat dengan tepat.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki regulasi terkait dengan penggunaan pengawet sebagai bahan tambahan pangan, terutama terkait jenis dan jumlah yang diperbolehkan. Penggunaan pengawet yang tidak memenuhi regulasi dan persyaratan dapat mengindikasikan dan meninmbulkan bahaya kesehatan bagi konsumen. Salah satu makanan yang diproduksi dengan menambahkan pengawet adalah kerupuk kulit sapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan pengawet dalam kerupuk kulit sapi yang diperoleh di Desa Peresak secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Analisis dilakukan terhadap empat jenis pengawet yakni sodium tetraborat, formaldehid, sodium benzoat dan sodium nitrit. Analisis kualitatif dilakukan untuk mengetahui kandungan sodium tetraborat menggunakan uji kertas kurkumin, uji nyala api dan KLT; sedangkan formaldehid dianalisis menggunakan reagen Nash dan KLT. Analisis kuantitatif dilakukan terhadap sodium benzoat dan sodium nitrit menggunakan spektrofotometri UV-Vis. Diperoleh hasil bahwa seluruh sampel yang digunakan tidak mengandung sodium tetraborat dan formaldehid. Kandungan sodium benzoat dan natrium nitrit yang didapatkan masing-masing
