Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine moral education in the children's stories "Samosir" and "The Greedy Rabbit". By knowing the moral education of children's stories, it is clear that these children's stories can build the character and social character of elementary school children; educating the emotional, spiritual, and intelligence of elementary school children. This goal is motivated by the problem that moral education must be presented from an early age to children through children's stories, especially elementary school children. However, not infrequently the children's stories that are presented actually contain values that are far from building morals. Based on this problem, a research was carried out using Clifford Geertz's symbolic interpretive study with a qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study are the children's stories "Samosir" and "The Greedy Rabbit" contain moral education. However, these children's stories can also damage the morale and psyche of children if they are interpreted 'as they are'. Children can be constructed that if they make a mistake, they will receive a very big punishment. This can put pressure on the psyche of children so they are afraid to do something or do something wrong.

Abstract

Pelaksanaan program magang keahlian yang berlangsung pada tanggal 04-15 Oktober 2021 di CV. Obelia Publisher yang berlokasi di Jalan Amaliun No. 152 Kota Medan ini dikemas dengan konsep yaitu 1) pemecahan masalah oleh mahasiswa yang mengikuti program magang setelah dilakukan tahap identifikasi masalah dan 2) pelaksanaan rangkaian kegiatan pelatihan oleh pihak CV. Obelia Publisher kepada mahasiswa yang mengikuti program magang. Metode yang digunakan dalam program magang keahlian ini dirangkum pada tiga tahap yaitu 1) tahap persiapan, 2) tahap pelaksanaan, dan 3) tahap evaluasi yang meliputi pembuatan laporan akhir. Program magang keahlian ini efektif sebagai wadah mahasiswa mempraktikkan pengetahuan yang telah ia serap di perkuliahan secara langsung di tempat kerja, menambah wawasan serta pengalaman mahasiswa, meningkatkan keterampilan dan kompetensi mahasiswa di bidang keahlian tertentu melalui berbagai pelatihan, serta membekali mahasiswa dengan suatu keterampilan yang dapat dimanfaatkan setelah lulus dari bangku perkuliahan. Melalui pelaksanaan program magang keahlian ini mahasiswa tidak hanya dituntut untuk praktik kerja di perusahaan mitra tempat magang. Mahasiswa juga dilatih untuk dapat bekerja dan berkolaborasi dalam tim serta efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan dan kompetensi dalam bidang keahlian tertentu. The apprenticeship skill program, which was held on Oktober 4-15, 2021 on CV. Obelia Publisher located at Jl. Amaliun No. 152 Medan city is packed with concept: 1) problem solving by the students who undergoes the apprenticeship after the problem identification phase and 2) implement a series of training activities by the CV. Obelia Publisher to the student s who joined the apprenticeship program. The method used in this program are 1) the preparation stage, 2) the implementation stage, and 3) the evaluation and reporting stage. This program is effective as students’ media to practice the knowledge he has been able to lecture directly at work, improve students’ insights and experiences, improve students’ skill and competence in specific of expertise through various training and equip students with skill that could be used after graduating. Through this program students are not only required to practice employment at the partner firm’s apprentice. Students are also trained to work and collaborate in teams and be effective in improving skill and competence in specific areas of expertise.

Abstract

Students experience difficulties in learning to write procedure texts. This is caused by students' interest in learning procedural text material which is still relatively low, students' lack of understanding in writing procedural texts, students are not enthusiastic about learning to write procedural texts. The aim of this research is to analyze (1) the ability to write procedural texts of class VII SMP students. Negeri 29 Medan before using the project based learning learning model assisted by Prezi media; (2) the ability to write procedural texts for class VII students at SMP Negeri 29 Medan after using the project based learning model assisted by Prezi media. (3) the influence of the project based learning model assisted by Prezi media on the ability to write procedural texts for class VII students at SMP Negeri 29 Medan. This research uses an experimental one group pre-test post-test design method. The results of the research show that 1) the ability to write procedural texts for class VII students at SMP Negeri 29 Medaln before implementing the project based learning learning model assisted by Prezi media was still classified as adequate in terms of category, with an average value of 60.16 while the majority of students had not yet reached the minimum completeness criteria. (KKM) which has already been determined by the school with a score of 76. 2) The ability to write procedural texts for class VII students at SMP Negeri 29 Medaln after implementing the Prezi media-assisted project based learning model is in the reverse category with a score of 84.35 based on the test t, with a significant level value of α = 0.05 and n = 31, the t-table value is 2.04. Therefore, it can be concluded that t-count > t-table, namely 7.15 > 2.04. This proves that there is a significant influence from the use of the project based learning model assisted by Prezi media on class VII students at SMP Negeri 29 Medan.

Abstract

This research contains the Philosophical Semiotics Analysis of the Lyrics of Anakkon Hi Do Hamoraon Di Au in Marparbue Do Lojami's Song Lyrics. The data collection technique in this study is library research, namely by recording all data related to the problems studied with various librarian documents, such as books, articles, and manuscripts published in newspapers, magazines, and the internet. This study shows how songs become a medium used to represent the cultural identity of a society. The community referred to in this study is the Toba Batak community. Batak Toba, one of the tribes in Indonesia, comes from the island of Sumatra, namely North Sumatra. The socio-cultural system of the Toba Batak society plays an important role in creating a harmonious culture, especially in the sustainability of children's education in the Toba Batak family. Generally, Toba Batak people everywhere have the philosophy of "anakkon hi do Cameroon di au". It means that my son is my treasure. Because almost most of the active roles of Toba Batak parents in sending their children to school seem so thick, they are willing to fight hard for the success of their children.

Abstract

Membunuh Mini merupakan sebuah cerpen yang ‘menyentil’ pembaca untuk sadar terhadap kondisi sosial, budaya, dan politik di masyarakat. M. Aan Mansyur mengingatkan hal tersebut melalui penggambaran tokoh borjuis yang diperankan oleh Erwin (majikan) dan tokoh porletar yang diperankan oleh Mini (budak) dan Sikki (budak). Tokoh yang akan diangkat adalah tokoh Sikki sebagai budak yang selalu menuruti, mematuhi perintah tuannya untuk menjaga keberadaannya, termasuk dalam cerita ini adalah membunuh Mini yang hamil akibat perbuatan Erwin. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat: (a) seberapa jauh seorang sastrawan menjadi otentik saat menulis karya sastra? b) apakah di dalam karya sastra, pengarang berhasil membangun subjek otentik? Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif, yang dianalisis secara deskriptif melalui kata-kata menggunakan teori Slavoj Zizek. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa subjek Sikki melakukan tindakan radikal dengan melakukan “kebohongan” kepada majikannya karena dimensi simbolik (Tuan dan Budak) yang menekannya sehingga mengalami lack dalam dirinya. Keadaan lack dalam diri subjek pada akhirnya tidak menghasilkan sesuatu. Freedom yang ingin dicapai subjek menjadi ilusi dan tidak menjadi nyata. Subjek Sikki dan Mansyur sama-sama tidak mampu menuju “yang real” dengan bukti bahwa keduanya menyerah pada “yang simbolik”— norma.

Abstract

This study aims to develop teaching materials for fantasy stories in the form of videos with the help of the Wondershare Filmora application in class VII SMP. This research is development research (RnD) using the Borg and Gall research procedure, which has been simplified in stages and adapted to the needs and limitations of this study. The stages carried out in this study are a) Potential and Problems, b) Data Collection, c) Product Design, d) Validation, and e) Revision. The subject of this development research is to get the valid results of the product from the three validators, namely material expert validators, media experts, and Indonesian language subject teachers at SMP Muhammadiyah 12 Kota Binjai. Data collection techniques include interviews with subject teachers and questionnaires that will be conducted to find out the needs of students. The results of this study indicate that the products developed from this research, namely teaching materials for fantasy stories assisted by Wondershare Filmora in the form of videos, are included in very feasible/good qualifications with a value from material validators of 78.8% and media experts of 89.6% and subject teachers of 92.5%. An average value of 86.9% is obtained to conclude that the products in this study are very good/feasible for teachers' and students' learning use.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian dilakukan bertujuan untuk menciptakan guru yang mandiri dengan memberikan pendidikan, pelatihan, dan workshop kepada guru untuk dapat mengembangkan diri dalam memanfaatkan teknologi pintar sebagai media pembelajaran di SD pada kurikulum merdeka. Kegiatan ini berfokus pada pembuatan produk media pembelajaran menggunakan Canva. Mitra kegiatan ini adalah SDN Kecamatan Hamparan Perak yang meliputi tiga sekolah dengan melibatkan 40 guru. Kegiatan pengabdian dikemas melalui kegiatan workshop menggunakan metode ceramah dan persentasi dilanjutkan dengan diskusi, tanya jawab dan praktik pembuatan produk media pembelajaran sederhana. Pengabdian dilakukan dengan empat tahapan, yaitu tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, penilaian dan evaluasi. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini menunjukkan bahwa guru mampu mengimplementasikan aplikasi dan merancang materi ajar dalam aplikasi Canva yang menghasilkan media pembelajaran berbasis teknologi pintar.

Abstract

This research aims to find out how class XI students at SMKN 4 Medan are able to play drama before using the Role Playing technique, to find out how the drama playing skills of class This research is classified as quantitative research with the type of experimental research. The design in this research uses _One Group pre-test and post-test design which only uses one group, namely the experimental group. This experimental group was given a pre-test before being given treatment to find out the situation before being given treatment and after receiving treatment they were given a post-test to find out the situation afterwards. In this way, the treatment results obtained are more accurate because they can be compared with the situation before the treatment was given. Based on the results of descriptive analysis, the average score for class drama playing ability was 30.8, the highest score was 22 and the lowest score was 16, after using the role play technique or in the first test it was in the poor category. The average value is 81.65%, the highest value is 52 and the lowest value is 46, and the application of the t test to evaluate the hypothesis shows the value of t_count = -55.373, and ttable = 1.703. so the value -t_tabel>t_count is -1.703 > -55.373. This result means that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means that the Role Playing investigation technique has an effect on improving drama playing skills in class XI students at SMKN 4 Medan.

Abstract

Indonesian continues to evolve along with social, cultural, and technological dynamics, producing new vocabulary that requires systematic documentation. This research aims to identify the role of intern students at the Balai Bahasa Sumatra Utara in proposing entries for the 6th edition of the online Great Dictionary of the Indonesian Language (KBBI). Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, observations, and document analysis. The research results show that interns made significant contributions to the lemma proposal process, which included data collection, linguistic analysis, and recommendation drafting. A total of 200 entries from the fields of physics, law, chemistry, and psychology were successfully proposed. The main findings include (1) a collaborative process between students, experts, and KBBI editors that supports the validity of lemmas; (2) contributions to the documentation of new scientific terms; and (3) challenges, such as limited reference sources and understanding of usage contexts. This research shows that the internship program not only contributes to the development of the Indonesian language but also provides practical learning experiences for students. Recommendations are provided for strengthening the internship system and optimizing the role of students in the management of the national language.

Abstract

This research was conducted to find out the spelling mistakes and the causes of spelling mistakes in scientific articles of students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Department. By knowing this, students will comprise scientific papers that are good and correct, and in accordance with the rules. The method used in this research was descriptive qualitative. The sources of research data were students' scientific articles of the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature, which are the products of team-based projects during Comparative Literature (fifth semester). The researcher chose four scientific articles to obtain the research results to be achieved or called the purposive sampling method. This research used an analytical method, namely the orthographic equivalent method, whose determining tool is writing with the concept of EYD and language errors. The results of this study are that students of the Department of Indonesian Language and Literature still often make Indonesian language mistakes in working on team-based project products in the form of scientific articles. This is due to the lack of understanding of students in the use of spelling in accordance with the rules. Then, students are less careful and lazy in checking the use of spelling. Therefore, students need to get training in writing (the use of spelling and Indonesian language rules) in order to become competent students in their fields according to the profile of graduates (research assistants, academics, and practitioners).
