Abstract

Batunyala Village, Praya Tengah District, Central Lombok Regency is known as a rice barn area in Central Lombok Regency. In general, their livelihood is rice farming. The characteristics of rice from Batunyala Village are fluffier and fragrant with fragrant pandan wangi. So many local and foreign rice traders are looking for it to be sold again. The obstacle experienced by farmers is when planting rice. Planting is an important activity in rice cultivation which requires about 25% of labor. Most of the agricultural workforce is now entering the non-productive age, while the interest of the younger generation to get involved in agriculture is getting lower, especially with traditional farming systems. This situation has raised deep concern for the government in achieving reliable food security. One way to overcome these obstacles is by counseling, as well as applying the rice transplanter (Rice Transplanter) of the Jajar Legowo (Jarwo) Planting Method. The application of Rice Transplanter technology with the Jarwo method can increase time and cost efficiency. The production of Pandan Wangi variety rice produces an average of 4.0 tons/ha and manually produces an average of 3.64 tons/ha. Can increase production by 9.89% compared to the manual system.

Abstract

Researchers are interested in investigating the optimum features of Sesbania grandiflora fibers (SGs) and Leucaena leucocephala fibers (LLs) for application in a wide range of applications. The purpose of this study was to explore the effects of NaOH and bleaching on the chemical characteristics, density, moisture content, and functional groups of sesbania g. and leucaena l. fibers. SGs and LLs fibers were chemically changed in various ways, including alkalization with 5% NaOH for 2 hours and bleaching with sodium chlorite (NaClO2) and acetic acid (CH3COOH). The results of the study showed that the cellulose, lignin, and hemicellulose content of the modified fiber was generally lower than that of the raw fiber. This was explained by the hydrolytic agents NaOH and bleaching causing damage to the cellulose chains and bond modifications. It was discovered that NaOH treatment was more effective at removing lignin and hemicellulose components in addition to cellulose, based on the functional groups seen in FTIR spectra. After the alkali and bleaching processes, the water content of SGs/NaOH, LLs/NaOH, SGs/bleaching, and LLs/bleaching fibers was reduced to 5.4 ± 0.89 %, 6.23 ± 0.87 %, 7.12 ± 1.02 %, dan 0.22 ± 0.21 %, respectively. This is also because the fiber has a relatively high fiber density of between 0.2 and 0.3 g/cm3, which is caused by the loss of non-fiber substances that are linked to the fiber. The results show that PFs treated with bleaching, NaOH, and raw fibers have the potential to be used as fillers in biocomposites and as substitute materials for glass fiber in the textile industry.

Abstract

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are being studied extensively as nanostructures for novel and enhanced biomedical applications. Nanoparticles in bone grafts have been shown to speed up fracture healing by providing a finer structure for bone tissue engineering. They are known to have excellent antimicrobial properties due to their high surface-to-volume ratio and small particle size, without affecting the material's mechanical properties. AgNPs' distinct property makes them the preferred filler in a wide range of biomaterials, where they play an important role in enhancing properties. AgNP-containing biomaterials can be easily tailored to meet specific requirements in the development of bone tissue. Adjusting size, shape, composition, and surface charge can enhance their effectiveness in interacting with bone cells, promoting cell attachment, and delivering growth factors. Using AgNP-based biomaterials can help prevent or reduce the formation of biofilms. The utilization of these materials in bone tissue engineering has demonstrated potential in treating musculoskeletal conditions and bone traumas. They are versatile for various applications such as bone implants, scaffolds, wound dressings, and antibiotic delivery systems. This review will cover several special topics, including silver-based biomaterials, toxic properties, morphology and mechanical properties of silver-based biomaterials, and applications of silver-based biomaterials in medical applications.

Abstract

Used light steel is used extensively in construction projects and is only provided to collectors at a reduced cost. It is derived from the leftover light steel building components. The goal of this project is to make a grill out of the leftover light steel parts that will withstand heat better and be more valuable than it was previously. The grill's shape facilitates easy heat absorption by the cooked material. This fish grill is made by first gathering leftover light steel, then bending and attaching the steel to form the grill using bolts. The activity's outcomes demonstrate that the grill made from leftover light steel is capable of producing consistent heat, allowing the fish to be cooked to perfection without being overly dry or scorched on the outside. Light steel additionally has an excellent level of heat resistance at high temperatures, extending the tool's service life and, eventually, raising UMKM's earnings.

Abstract

Natural fibers, including both animal and plant fibers, have many applications in a variety of sectors, therefore knowing the effects of chemical treatments on their characteristics is critical. This study evaluates the impact of different chemical treatments, including silanes, acetylation, benzoylation, peroxides, and several coupling agents, including maleation. In addition, this paper discusses treatment using acrylation and acrylonitrile, stearic acid, sodium chlorite, oleoyl chloride, isocyanate, and permanganate. These treatments alter the surface structure of the fibers by changing their chemical composition and shape. Silane and coupling maleation chemicals typically increase fiber attachment to the polymer matrix, whereas acetylation and benzoylation frequently improve resistance to moisture and microbial attacks. Peroxide and permanganate can produce oxidation, which reduces fiber strength, but grafting acrylation, acrylonitrile, and isocyanate improves resistance and temperature stability. Stearic acid and oleoyl chloride increase hydrophobicity, whereas sodium chlorite treatment alters the lignocellulose structure, increasing density and strength. This study also examines the impacts of biological treatment with fungi, that may change fiber structure via biodegradation pathways. This study's findings shed light on how various chemical treatments might alter the durability and strength of natural fibers, and also their use in industry and material technology.

Abstract

Effective mitigation strategies are necessary because high noise levels in maritime work situations frequently represent serious threats to hearing health. Acoustic panels and sound absorbers are examples of sound-dampening materials that are used to lower noise levels; nevertheless, it is unclear how these materials affect employees' awareness and attitudes. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the usage of sound-absorbing materials affects the attitudes and understanding of marine personnel about noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL). The study also covers ship personnel' attitudes toward NIHLs, their understanding of NIHLs, and their hazards. The strategies for increasing ship employees' understanding of and attitudes toward NIHL, the impact of sound-dampening materials on their knowledge and attitudes toward NIHL, and the effectiveness of NIHL awareness and training programs are also covered. While the majority of marine workers are knowledgeable that noise can lead to hearing loss, the review's findings show that their understanding of the causes and long-term consequences of NIHL is insufficient. Diverse perspectives exist regarding prevention, and several employees find it awkward to wear hearing protection. Sound-absorbing materials facilitate better communication and teamwork among employees, which can raise satisfaction at work and safety awareness while lessening the disruption caused by excessive noise. Moreover, employing hearing protection devices (HPPs) can raise staff members' awareness of NIHL and motivate them to utilize HPPs more proactively. These results provide recommendations for more potent preventive measures as well as significant insights into occupational safety and health regulations in the maritime sector.
