Abstract

Domestic violence (DV) has significant mental health consequences, including depression. Social support plays a critical role in mitigating these effects. This study aims to explore the relationship between social support and depression levels among domestic violence victims. The research employed a correlational, cross-sectional design, collecting data via questionnaires. The instruments used included demographic data, the Social Support Questionnaire-6 (SSQ-6) to assess social support, and the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9) to measure depression levels. The study population consisted of 40 women victims of domestic violence who had reported their cases to the UPTD PPA in West Java Province. Bivariate data analysis was conducted using the Spearman test. The majority of respondents were aged 25-44 (57.5%), had a high school education (40%), were unemployed (75%), and had experienced psychological violence (30%). A notable 62.5% of respondents reported insufficient social support, and 45% were found to have moderate depression. The analysis revealed a significant relationship between social support and depression levels (p-value= 0.005, <0.05). These findings confirm that there is a significant association between social support and depression levels in domestic violence victims.

Abstract

Adolescence is a critical developmental stage and a national health priority, yet many adolescents, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas, still experience limited access to health education, first-aid literacy, and hygienic practices. This community service initiative aimed to strengthen students’ preparedness and health literacy through structured training on First Aid (P3K) and Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) at SMP Islam As-Syarief Karangtengah. The program consisted of educational sessions, demonstrations, and guided discussions. Results showed that students demonstrated strong PHBS knowledge but variable understanding of first-aid wound care, indicating the need for more sustained reinforcement. Although no formal skills assessment was conducted, observational findings suggested increased engagement and growing confidence in basic first-aid concepts. The outcomes highlight the importance of integrating continuous mentorship, periodic refresher training, and stronger collaboration with local health centers to support practical skill development. Schools are encouraged to institutionalize student-led health initiatives, such as adolescent health posts, to ensure sustainability. Future programs should incorporate structured skill assessments and follow-up evaluations to maximize behavioral impact and strengthen school-based health promotion.

Abstract

Children and adolescents aged 6 to 15 years are a vulnerable age group prone to injuries due to high curiosity and limited awareness or response to hazards. Data indicate that approximately 42.56% of middle school students experience injuries, ranging from minor to severe. The most common types of injuries include falls, sprains, puncture wounds, lacerations, fractures, bruises, foreign body intrusion, and traffic accidents. The most frequent injury sites are the lower limbs (67.9%), followed by the upper limbs (32.7%) and the head (11.9%). This community service program was designed to equip middle school students at Ekkapap International School, Krabi, Thailand, with essential first aid knowledge for everyday injuries. The theme was selected to provide basic health literacy through practical, interactive, and engaging approaches. The methods included wound illustration, hands-on activities such as wound cleaning, dressing with gauze, applying adhesive bandages, and simulation and role-play as first responders in emergencies. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the knowledge of 40 participating students. The average pre-test score was 61, which markedly increased to 93 in the post-test. Statistical analysis confirmed a highly significant difference between pre- and post-intervention scores. Visual and hands-on methods proved highly effective, even in a cross-cultural context, highlighting that empathy and the willingness to help are universal values.
