Abstract

Anak-anak di usia sekolah mengalami masa pertumbuhan, yang memerlukan perhatian khusus dari orang tua dan masyarakat, terutama terkait dengan nutrisi mereka. Kuantitas dan kualitas nutrisi yang dikonsumsi oleh anak-anak usia sekolah dapat mempengaruhi pertumbuhannya. Oleh karena itu, status gizi seimbang berpegang erat terhadap kebutuhan kembang anak. Sarapan menjadi salah satu komponen utama dalam status gizi seimbang. Status gizi buruk dapat disebabkan oleh kebiasaan mengonsumsi jajanan karena sangat rendah zat gizi yang diperlukan. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat dan penyuluhan dilakukan di SDN 2 Parakan dengan jumlah siswa siswi yang menjadi partisipan sebanyak 50 orang. Dengan menggunakan metode penyuluhan dan pemberian brosur dari hasil PKM menunjukkan 86% anak paham dan mengerti tentang penggolongan makanan, 64% anak paham dan mengerti tentang pentingnya minum air putih dan 87 % anak paham dan mengerti tentang definisi gizi seimbang. Harapan dilakukan  penyuluhan ini adalah agar siswa siswi SDN 2 Parakan memiliki kesadaran yang lebih tinggi tentang pentingnya asupan gizi seimbang guna mendukung perkembangan fisik dan kognitif yang optimal, dan membangun generasi yang lebih sehat serta berdaya saing tinggi.

Abstract

The extension activity was located at SD Negeri 2 Sirnajaya Garut with the theme "Optimizing Balanced Nutrition", carried out through collaboration by the Garut University Pharmacy PKM team and Padjadjaran University Pharmacy. Fulfilling balanced nutrition can be done by consuming food every day which must contain various nutrients in the type and amount according to needs. Other considerations needed are food variety, clean lifestyle, physical activity, and weight monitoring. This activity aims to increase children's understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition in supporting physical and cognitive growth. This activity involved grade 5 and 6 students with 43% male students and 57% female students. This activity includes pretest, posttest, providing educational material delivered through presentations, educational videos and distributing flyers as well as holding a question and answer session. Based on the data obtained, this counseling succeeded in increasing students' understanding from 67% to 78%, and students became aware of implementing a healthy lifestyle in order to obtain balanced nutrition.

Abstract

Abstrak: Generasi Z atau Gen Z merupakan generasi yang lahir pada 1997-2012. Perkembangan pola pikir kritis adalah pada saat usia remaja. WHO menyebutkan penduduk dengan rentan usia 10-19 tahun menyumbangkan sebanyak 16% beban penyakit, cedera, dan gangguan mental emosional. Hal ini disebabkan oleh kurangnya edukasi dan kesadaran masyarakat terhadap penanggulangan kesehatan mental pada anak dan remaja. Kasus-kasus ini disebabkan oleh ketidaktahuan dan dan kurangnya kesadaran mengenai kesehatan mental. Penyuluhan ini dilakukan agar kondisi kesehatan mental remaja di MTS Babussalam yang berlokasi di Desa Barusuda Kecamatan Cigedug, Kabupaten Garut, Jawa Barat lebih baik lagi dan adanya peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai kesehatan mental. Metode penyuluhan dilakukan melalui presentasi langsung. Total siswa yang berpartisipasi dalam peenyuluhan ini sebanyak 57 siswa. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam metode ini adalah lembar kuisioner. Hasil penyuluhan menunjukkan sebanyak 77,2% siswa yang mengikuti kegiatan sosialisasi diketahui telah paham terhadap pentingnya kesehatan mental pada remaja. Selain itu, pemahaman responden terhadap perilaku tidak baik bagi kesehatan mental yakni sebanyak 82,5% siswa dan sebanyak 75,4% siswa paham akan kondisi ketika kesehatan mental tidak baik. Diharapkan penyuluhan ini dapat menjadi landasan untuk mengetahui cara penanganan dalam kesehatan mental secara preventif dan promotif pada kesehatan jiwa remaja yang di dalamnya melibatkan di lingkungan sekolah termasuk guru dan teman sebaya sehingga remaja mampu memiliki faktor protektor yang baik dan mampu mengatasi masalah yang terjadi dengan adaptif.Abstract: The development of critical thinking is during adolescence. WHO states that the vulnerable population aged 10-19 years contributes as much as 16% of the burden of disease, injury and mental-emotional disorders. This is caused by a lack of education and public awareness of mental health management in children and adolescents. These cases are caused by ignorance and lack of awareness regarding mental health. This counseling was carried out to find out how students know about adolescent mental health at MTS Babussalam which is located in Barusuda Village, Cigedug District, Garut Regency, Total participating in this counseling were 57 students. The instrument used in this method is a questionnaire sheet. Data were analyzed with descriptive analysis techniques. The results of the counseling showed that 77.2% of the students who took part in the socialization activities were known to have understood the importance of mental health in adolescents. In addition, respondents' understanding of behavior that is not good for mental health, namely as many as 82.5% of students and as many as 75.4% of students understand the conditions when mental health is not good. It is hoped that this counseling can become the basis for knowing how to deal with preventive and promotive mental health in adolescent mental health which involves the school environment including teachers and peers so that adolescents are able to have good protective factors and are able to overcome problems that occur adaptively.

Abstract

Edible film is a thin layer used to protect food ingredients (as a coating) that comes from food-grade components and can be consumed directly. Pandanus sea fruit has the potential to be a source of pectin. This study aims to determine the characteristics of edible film from Pandanus sea fruit pectin (Pandanus ordorifer). The method used was laboratory experimental research with a simple one-factor experimental design. The pectin extraction formula consists of Pandanus sea simplicia, distilled water, and H2SO4, with variations in pH conditions at 2, 3, and 4. The results showed that pectin with pH 4 met the requirements according to the Japanese Industrial standard consisting of a yield of 2.60%, water content of 8.1%, ash content of 9.2%, methoxyl content of 6.2%, equivalent weight of 631 mg, galacturonic acid content of 253% and degree of esterification of 13.9%. The edible film making formula is Pandanus sea pectin, distilled water, with variations of sorbitol added at 5%, 10%, and 15%. The results showed that a concentration of 5% sorbitol produced the best edible film, meeting the requirements of a water content of 6.5%, a thickness of 0.13 mm, and a solubility of 59%. The organoleptic test of the edible film with a 5% sorbitol concentration was the most preferred by the panelists.This research is expected to be an innovation in the use of Pandan Laut fruit as an alternative food packaging.

Abstract

Hypertension is a non-communicable disease often referred to as a "silent killer" because it may develop without noticeable symptoms and can lead to serious complications if left untreated. Elderly individuals are among the high-risk groups who require special attention in efforts to prevent and control hypertension. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge of elderly residents regarding hypertension through health education as a preventive measure against further complications. The program was conducted in Parakan Village, Garut Regency, involving 30 elderly participants. The method used was health education combined with pre-test and post-test assessments to evaluate knowledge improvement. The results showed a significant increase in understanding after the session, particularly regarding the symptoms and prevention of hypertension. Another notable finding was that most participants had only elementary-level education, which influenced their receptiveness to health information. In conclusion, health education proved effective in enhancing the elderly's knowledge of hypertension and its potential complications. Periodic follow-up education and collaboration with local health services are recommended to sustain the impact.

Abstract

The health education program on skin diseases and environmental health conducted by the PKM Pharmacy Team of Garut University was held at the Tahfidz Qur’an Al-Yumna Islamic Boarding School in Garut, West Java. This program aimed to enhance the students' understanding and awareness of the importance of maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle. The implementation methods included distributing brochures as an informational medium that could be re-read and delivering live presentations that allowed for two-way interaction. The results showed a significant improvement in students' understanding of various aspects, such as waste management using the 5R concept, ways to maintain environmental cleanliness, and the adverse effects of unclean environments. For example, understanding of waste sorting increased from 86% to 100% after the program. The program also emphasized the importance of personal hygiene to prevent contagious diseases like scabies, as well as maintaining water quality in accordance with health standards. Overall, the program successfully raised students' awareness and behavior regarding cleanliness and environmental health in the boarding school.

Abstract

Snacking at school is a common practice among students. The availability of snacks in the school environment cannot guarantee that all snacks are healthy. This outreach activity was conducted to increase the knowledge and awareness of students at SDN 1 Kadungora, encouraging them to be wiser in choosing the snacks they consume. Data collection methods included a pre-test and post-test. The material was delivered in the form of a lecture accompanied by PowerPoint slides and printed brochures. The outreach results showed an increase in the percentage of students' understanding of the definition of healthy snacks before the outreach: 82.4% before the outreach and 92.8% after the outreach. For healthy drinks, there was a 10.4% increase in knowledge, and 100% of students understood examples of healthy drinks. This indicates that the outreach activity was successful in educating students.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian mengenai efektivitas penggunaan sari buah jeruk nipis (Citrus aurantifolia) dalam mempertahankan kualitas nasi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mencari kondisi optimum pengawetan dengan sari buah jeruk nipis sehingga dapat mengawetkan nasi dan mengetahui seberapa lama sari buah jeruk nipis mampu mengawetkan nasi yang disimpan dalam alat penghangat nasi. Efektivitas dilihat dari kualitas nasi yang dihasilkan melalui pengamatan jumlah koloni dan sifat fisik nasi. Sari buah jeruk nipis ditambahkan dalam beberapa konsentrasi yaitu 0%, 0,46%, 0,93%, 1,40%, dan 1,87%. Pengamatan sifat fisik nasi dilakukan setiap selang waktu 12 jam berdasarkan perubahan warna, aroma dan rasa. Perhitungan jumlah koloni dilakukan setiap selang waktu 24 jam. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilihat dari kualitas nasi, dengan mengamati jumlah koloni dan sifat fisiknya, pada konsentrasi 0,93% menunjukkan konsentrasi optimum yang efektif mengawetkan nasi

Abstract

Cokelat yang dikonsumsi sehari-hari memiliki kandungan yang beragam, antara lain protein, lemak, karbohidrat, senyawa polifenol, flavonoid serta metilxantin. Polifenol kakao utamanya flavonoid mempunyai potensi sebagai bahan antioksidan alami. Produk cokelat yang beredar di pasaran memilki perbedaan pada kemasannya, yaitu ada yang dikemas dengan aluminium foil dan ada yang dikemas dengan plastik. Untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh yang diberikan dari perbedaan kemasan terhadap aktivitas antioksidan yang terdapat pada produk (dark dan milk) cokelat. Dengan metode DPPH. Produk (dark dan milk) cokelat diekstraksi dengan cara maserasi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96% selama 3x24 jam. Terjadi penurunan aktivitas antioksidan setelah disimpan selama 14 hari pada suhu kamar. Kemasan plastik memberikan persentase penurunan lebih besar dibanding dengan kemasan aluminium foil. Pada dark cokelat sampel kemasan aluminium foil terjadi penurunan sebesar 10,191%, sedangkan kemasan plastik sebesar 14,931%. Pada milk cokelat sampel kemasan aluminium foil terjadi penurunan sebesar 9,861%, sedangkan kemasan plastik sebesar 15,455%. Perbedaan jenis kemasan dapat mempengaruhi tingkat aktivitas antioksidan pada produk dark dan milk cokelat. Produk cokelat dengan kemasan plastik mengalami penurunan aktivitas antioksidan yang lebih besar daripada produk cokelat dengan kemasan aluminium foil

Abstract

Di masa pandemi Covid-19, Gadget menjadi keperluan yang sangat penting. Selain kesulitan dalam belajar online, anak-anak sangat ingin mengetahui hal yang baru dan rasa ingin tahu mereka membuatnya sangat mudah untuk ketagihan dengan gawai. Akibatnya pengurangan  penglihatan yang buruk terjadi pada anak usia sekolah yang mengakibatkan anak mengalami kesusahan dalam menyelesaikan kegiatan belajar. Penyuluhan ini bertujuan untuk menambahkan mutu hidup anak dengan mengajarkan cara menjaga kesehatan mata anak dan kemampuan menerapkan keterampilan penggunaan gawai  yang tepat dan benar. Metode sosialisasi yang digunakan adalah penyuluhan. Anak-anak dalam kegiatan ini yaitu siswa-siswi yang berada di SDN 2 Kersamenak dengan menggunakan instrumen kuesioner. Variabel penyuluhan yaitu perilaku lama penggunaan gadget, durasi penggunaan gadget yang baik, dan posisi penggunaan gadget. Hasil penyuluhan menunjukkan bahwa siswa di SDN 2 Kersamenak banyak yang tidak bermain gadget, durasi penggunaan gadget selama 2 jam sebanyak 14% laki-laki dan 49% perempuan, sedangkan untuk posisi penggunaan gawai sebanyak 31% laki-laki dan 54% perempuan memilih posisi duduk dengan jarak 30-40 cm.
