Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang formulasi, evaluasi, dan perbandingan intensitas kepedasan granul effervescent jahe putih (Zingiber officinale Roscoe) instan dan jahe merah (Zingiber officinale Var.Rubrum) instan yang menggunakan satu formulasi hasil dari estimasi. Metode yang digunakan ekstraksi panas yang digunakan untuk memperoleh ekstrak jahe instan dengan pengisi glukosa sebanyak 50% dari jumlah volum. Data pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa distribusi ukuran, bobot jenis benar, bobot jenis nyata, bobot jenis mampat, porositas, kompresibilitas, kadar air, kecepatan alir, dan sudut istirahat dari formula tetap stabil setelah penyimpanan selama 12 hari pada suhu ruangan. Hasil uji kepedasan dan kesukaan menyatakan bahwa granul effervescent jahe putih instan lebih pedas namun tidak memiliki aroma, warna yang kurang menarik, dibandingkan dengan granul effervescent jahe merah instan menurut para panelis relawan penguji. Kata kunci: Granul effervescent, intensitas kepedasan, jahe instan

Abstract

Pektin merupakan suatu kelompok polisakarida yang heterogen. Senyawa adiktif dalam pektin berguna untuk gelling agent. Buah Pandan Laut memiliki potensi sebagai salah satu sumber pembuatan pektin. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji jenis ekstraksi untuk menghasilkan karakteristik pektin terbaik dari buah Pandan Laut (Pandanus ordorifer). Proses pengambilan pektin pada buah Pandan Laut menggunakan ekstraksi dengan pelarut air dan ekstraksi dengan pelarut yang diasamkan menggunakan H2SO4. Karakteristik pektin yang diakukan antara lain redemen, berat ekivalen, kadar metoksil, kadar asam galakturonat, kadar air, kadar abu, dan derajat esteifikasi. Hasil rendemen tertinggi menggunakan pelarut tanpa asam yaitu sebesar  11,4%. Sedangkan pada ekstraksi menggunakan asam H2SO4 dengan pH 2, pH 3, dan pH 4 secara berurutan yaitu 3,04%; 2,75%; dan 2,60%. Berdasarkan metode ekstraksi menggunakan asam, pektin terbaik diperoleh pada pH 4. Pektin kemudian di bandingkan dengan standar yang ditetapkan SNI, International Pectin Producers Assosiation (IPPA), Food Chemical Codex (FCC).Kata kunci: Ekstraksi, Karakteristik, Pandanus odorifer, Pandan Laut, Pektin

Abstract

Sumbawa wild horse mik is pure milk produced by a mare which is bred in sumbawa and is a healthy drink that has antibacterial activity and longer shelf life duration without using preservatives. This study aims to analyze the shelf life and antibacterial activity of Sumbawa wild horse milk (SWHM) against Escherecia coli and Staphylococcus aureus bacteria, with test parameters including water content, fat content, protein content, pH, and testing was carried out on the 15th day and 30th day after milking and storage at room temperature. The results showed that SWHM did not decay or changes in levels that were far different during the storage period of 15-30 days at room temperature, with the results of fat content of 86.182% and 1.6650%, protein content of 2.1624% and 2.2961%, 86.1821% water content and pH 5.21 and 4.00. Antibacterial activity plays more role in inhibiting Escherichia coli bacteria compared to Staphylococcus aureus with a concentration of 50%, 75%, and 100% with a maximum inhibition of 12.77 mm.

Abstract

The quantitative analysis of vitamin C content from variations beverage  packaging  containing red guava (Psidium Guajava Linn) fruit juice had been done. In this study, 4 samples were obtained from the shopping center in Garut and Bandung City. Samples were tested quantitatively by 2,6-dichlorophenol indophenol titration method. The results showed different concentration of 4 samples consist of  tetra pack packaging, tin, glass, and plastic bottles, such as; 17.99 mg/100 gr, 31.46 mg/100 gr, 13.00 mg/100 gr, and 12.01 mg/100 gr, respectively. These result indicated that the packaging variations affected to the level of vitamin C content which was characterized by decreased levels of vitamin C. It means the levels of vitamin C from this research were not in accordance to nutritional value information on the packaging. Tetra pack packaging was the most stable compared to other packaging even though it had a shorter expired date than with other.

Abstract

The problem found in Cikelet village, Garut district, was the sensitive issue regarding the halalness of a product. Most village residents do not yet know the authorized institution that provides a halal certificate to a product, the characteristics of a halal product in terms of its packaging and the basic laws of halal products. With the KKN program through community service activities, the PKM team from the Garut University Pharmacy in the KKN program provided a solution to this problem through the promotion of halal food and drinks by providing brochures and direct counseling to residents of various age levels and professions. pre and post test to evaluate the success of the socialization. The aim and targeted outcomes of this outreach are to see an increase in Cikelet residents' knowledge of halal products so that they can increase awareness in choosing something that is safe, good for health and halal. Permasalahan yang ditemukan di desa Cikelet kabupaten Garut adalah adanya isu sensitif mengenai kehalalan suatu produk. Sebagian besar warga desa belum mengetahui lembaga yang berwenang yang memberikan sertifikat halal pada suatu produk, ciri produk halal ditinjau dari kemasannya dan hukum dasar dari produk halal. Dengan adanya program KKN melalui kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat tim PKM dari Farmasi Universitas Garut pada program KKN memberikan solusi terhadap permasalah tersebut melalui sosialisasi makanan dan minuman halal melalui pemberian brosur dan penyuluhan langsung kepada warga dengan berbagai tingkatan usia dan profesi, selain itu juga dilakukan pre dan post test untuk mengevaluasi keberhasilan dari sosialisasi tersebut. Tujuan dan luaran luaran yang ditargetkan dari penyuluhan ini untuk melihat peningkatan pengetahuan warga Cikelet terhadap produk halal sehingga dapat meningkatkan kesadaran dalam memilih suatu suatu yang aman, baik untuk kesehatan dan halal.

Abstract

The wealth of biodiversity and the abundance of native Indonesian germplasm resources have not been optimally utilized domestically. Malay apple, which belongs to the myrtaceae family, has various health benefits. However, its utilization is still limited, thus requiring ideas to increase public interest in this fruit. Therefore, innovation is carried out by transforming malay apple  into kombucha fermentation beverages as a step to optimize its utilization. The research aimed to measure the total alcohol content, total acid, and total sugar in the formulation of kombucha beverages derived from malay apple  fruit juice, with the goal of developing it into a functional beverage. The research process involved testing alcohol content using gas chromatography, measuring total acid by alkalimetric titration method, and measuring total sugar content by anthrone method. The research results showed that the malay apple  kombucha sample  the level  of alcohol content was 0.0213%, the total acid was 1.38% (<2 g/L), and the total sugar was 0.807 µg. The kombucha malay apple which category halal kombucha.

Abstract

UNIGA melalui PKM dan KKN 2023 merupakan wujud kolaborasi bersama untuk mendukung terwujudnya tujuan pemerintah Kabupaten Garut yang dituangkan dalam RPJMD 2020–2024  yaitu “Mewujudkan  Kabupaten Garut Yang Maju, Sejahtera, Adil dan Berwawasan”. Kegiatan ini berlangsung di Desa Margamulya kecamatan Cisompet, kabupaten Garut. Di desa ini, fasilitas kesehatan yang tersedia hanya Puskesmas Pembantu, Tujuan dari PKM ini adalah untuk  membantu program desa di bidang kesehatan.  Penyuluhan kesehatan difokuskan terhadap penyakit kronis yaitu Hipertensi, Obesitas, dan Diabetes Melitus melalui sosialisasi presentasi materi, media  informasi berupa brosur, sesi diskusi dan tanya-jawab.  Dari kegiatan ini, diharapkan wawasan warga desa Margamulya terhadap penyakit kronis menjadi lebih baik dan mendalam.

Abstract

This outreach activity for students was held by SMP Plus Sukaraja Garut, and aimed at increasing students' awareness about the importance of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), especially regarding adequate water intake and regular exercise. The method used in this outreach is through the distribution of brochures and direct presentations at one of the schools in the Garut Regency. Counseling is carried out by providing a pretest and posttest to measure students' level of understanding. The results of this activity show that using brochures as an information medium is quite effective because they can be read repeatedly and the direct presentation here allows for two-way interaction to clarify understanding. This counseling succeeded in increasing students' knowledge and awareness about the importance of PHBS, water intake, and exercise by 78.85%. It is hoped that this PKM activity can encourage students to implement healthy living habits sustainably.

Abstract

Abstrak Salah satu jenis penyakit yang banyak terjadi di lingkungan pesantren adalah terdapat para santri dan santriwati yang mengalami masalah kesehatan, khususnya kasus penyakit kulit. Penyuluhan tentang penyakit kulit dilakukan di Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Qur’an Al-Yumna yang dilakukan oleh tim PKM Farmasi Uniga, bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan santri mengenai kesehatan kulit khususnya penyakit scabies. Penyuluhan dilakukan dengan menggunakan media brosur dan presentasi langsung.  Lingkungan pesantren yang mengharuskan santri tinggal bersama di asrama menjadi faktor risiko penyebaran penyakit kulit seperti scabies. Masalah kebersihan lingkungan, pakaian dan perlengkapan pribadi yang menjadi penyebab utamanya. Berdasarkan evaluasi kegiatan frekuensi membersihkan asrama cukup tinggi yaitu sebesar 84% yang dilakukan setiap hari, namun masih perlu edukasi tambahan mengenai pencegahan penyakit. Hasil penyuluhan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman santri terhadap penyakit kulit, termasuk penyebab dan cara penularan scabies. Kegiatan ini berhasil meningkatkan kesadaran santri akan pentingnya kebersihan pribadi dan lingkungan dalam mencegah penyebaran penyakit sehingga dapat menciptakan perilaku hidup sehat di pesantren. Kata kunci: kesehatan; penyuluhan; penyakit kulit; scabies; pesantren. Abstract One type of disease that often occurs in Islamic boarding school environments is that there are male and female students who experience health problems, especially cases of skin disease. The counseling on skin diseases was conducted at Pondok Pesantren Tahfidz Qur’an Al-Yumna by PKM team of pharmacy is aiming to enhance students knowledge of skin health, particularly scabies. The counseling utilized brochures and direct presentations as media. The pesantren environment, which requires students to live together in dormitories, poses a risk factor for the spread of skin diseases such as scabies. Issues related to environmental cleanliness, clothing, and personal belongings are the primary causes. Based on the activity evaluation, the frequency of dormitory cleaning was relatively high at 84%, conducted daily. However, additional education on disease prevention is still necessary. The counseling results showed an improvement in students' understanding of skin diseases, including the causes and transmission of scabies. This activity successfully raised students' awareness of the importance of personal and environmental hygiene in preventing disease transmission, thereby fostering healthy living behavior within the pesantren. Keywords: health; counseling; skin disease; scabies; pesantren.

Abstract

To obtain balanced nutrition, the food consumed every day must contain various nutrients of the type and amount according to needs. In addition, it is necessary to consider a variety of foods, a clean lifestyle, physical activity, and weight monitoring. National data shows that Indonesian children with short stature reached 27,7% and obese children reached 9.2%. this indicates that many school-age children are still experiencing a nutritional crisis. The increasing rates of stunting and obesity are the result of unhealthy diets and lack of nutrition education. The counseling activity was located at SD Negeri 2 Sirnajaya Garut with the theme “Optimizing Balanced Nutrition”, carried out by the PKM team of Garut University pharmacy students and Padjajaran University pharmacy students. The activity aims to increase children’s understanding of the importance of balanced nutrition in supporting physical and cognitive growth. This activity involved 5th and 6th grade students with 43% male students and 57% female students. This activity includes a pretest, posttest, provision of educational materials delivered through presentations, educational videos, and distribution of flyers, and a question and answer session. Based on the results of the data obtained, this counseling succeeded in increasing student understanding from 67% to 78%, and students became aware of implementing a healthy lifestyle to obtain balanced nutrition.
