Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurangnya pemanfaatan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran membuat peserta didik kurang aktif dan kesulitan dalam memhami materi pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan sebuah E-modul pada materi Kekongruenan dan Kesebangunan yang valid dan praktis untuk peserta didik di kelas IX SMP Negeri 18 Padang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian pengembangan menggunakan R&D (Research and Development) dengan model pengembangan 4-D. produk yang dikembangkan berupa E-modul pada materi Kekongruenan dan Kesebangunan. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa lembar validasi, lembar praktikalitas, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil uji validitas E-modul, diperoleh hasil validitas E-modul sebesar 92,35% dengan kategori sangat valid. Selanjutnya hasil praktikalitas yang diujikan kepada guru matematika dan peserta didik kelas IX SMP Negeri 18 Padang diperoleh hasil persentasenya 94,60% dengan kategori sangat praktis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa E-modul pada materi kekongruenan dan kesebangunan di SMP Negeri 18 Padang sudah layak untuk digunakan dan berada pada kategori valid dan praktis.

Abstract

Technology integration in education has become essential to support inclusive and adaptive learning. However, many teachers still face challenges in developing differentiated teaching materials that address their students' diverse learning styles and abilities. This issue stems from teachers' limited knowledge and skills in effectively utilizing innovative technology. This training program aims to enhance the skills of teachers at SMP Negeri 26 Padang in creating differentiated teaching materials through the use of the Wizer.me application. The method employed is a participatory approach consisting of three main phases: training planning, implementation (including theoretical sessions and interactive practice using Wizer.me), and evaluation. The results indicate that the training successfully equipped teachers with strong competencies in operating the Wizer.me application. The program significantly impacted teachers' understanding and skills in utilizing the platform to produce interactive, varied, and student-centered teaching materials. Additionally, participants expressed a high level of satisfaction with the program. Thus, this training program has made a tangible contribution to empowering teachers to leverage technology in creating innovative educational content.

Abstract

Taiwan's rapid development in education is evidenced by its high ranking in the 2022 PISA assessment, making it an attractive destination for international students. National Dong Hwa University, particularly its Department of Computer Science and Information Engineering (CSIE), has become popular among these students. This study focuses on the impact of integrating local and international students in calculus courses, a required subject, due to the close relationship between mathematics and computer science. The study sampled 14 international and 14 local first-year students, collecting data through questionnaires to assess their self-confidence, communication skills, and motivation. At the same time, academic performance was measured through midterm exam scores. The findings revealed significant differences in academic performance, self-confidence, and communication between local and international students, with p-values of .024*, .016*, and .012*, respectively. Among international students, self-confidence and communication were significantly correlated with academic performance (p=.013* and p=.026*), while for local students, a significant relationship was found between scores and communication (p=.035*).

Abstract

This research aims to find out what mistakes students make in solving mathematics questions in class VIII at SMP Negeri 8 Sawahlunto. This research method uses qualitative research with descriptive methods. The subjects of this research were 15 students, the technique for selecting research subjects used Purposive Sampling, the instruments used in data collection were tests, interviews and documentation. The test results were analyzed based on Newman's criteria with the criteria reading error (re), comprehension error (ce), transformation error (te), process skill error (pse) and encoding error (ee). After that, students were interviewed based on the types of errors the students made. The results of the research showed that the types of errors made by students were: (1) Reading Error (RE) of 29 errors, namely students were not careful in reading the words or important information in the question, (2) Comprehension Error (CE) of 34 errors, namely students were not careful, forgot and were confused in writing and determining what was known and asked in the question, (3) Transformation Error (TE) was 13 errors, namely students did not pay attention to the formula that had been made, then students were less careful in using the correct formula, (4) Process Skill Error (PSE) as many as 7 errors, (5) Encoding Error (EE) as many as 31 errors, namely the result of previous errors in the calculation process so that students were in a hurry to work out the final answer.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to explore higher education students’ perspectives on the ethno-mathematics course as a means to introduce local culture and its values. The research specifically examines the ethno-mathematical concepts represented in Rumah Gadang, a traditional building in Batusangkar, West Sumatra. Method: A qualitative approach with an ethnographic design was used in this research. Data were collected from 35 students enrolled in the ethno-mathematics course at a private university through qualitative questionnaires. In addition, two cultural experts were interviewed using semi-structured interview questions. The data were analyzed using content analysis to identify key themes related to shapes, space, measurement, and arithmetic as reflected in Rumah Gadang. Findings: The results show that all students agreed on the importance of integrating ethno-mathematics in their learning. The students demonstrated increased interest and appreciation for mathematics when it was linked to cultural contexts. They recognized the relevance of mathematical concepts such as shape, space, measurement, and arithmetic in the design and philosophy of Rumah Gadang. Insights from interviews with cultural experts further confirmed that Rumah Gadang embodies mathematical reasoning that is closely connected to cultural identity and local values. Significance: The research demonstrates that ethno-mathematics courses can effectively foster cultural appreciation and help preserve local heritage among university students. This encourages students to see mathematics as not only a universal science but also a reflection of cultural traditions. The study highlights the value of using local cultural artifacts as authentic contexts in mathematics education, with implications for curriculum development that supports both academic achievement and cultural preservation.

Abstract

This study aims to develop students' skills through the integration of project-based learning and simulation. This study used mixed methods by involving 30 students of the Mathematics Education Study Program at Universitas PGRI Sumatera Barat as research subjects. Data collection was conducted through observations of five meetings and semi-structured interviews with nine students of various academic ability level, including high, medium, and low. The research instrument for quantitative data was an observation sheet, while for qualitative data, a semi-structured interview sheet was used. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis techniques for quantitative data and thematic analysis for qualitative data. The results of the study showed that the students' skills were not evenly distributed. Group collaboration in learning proved to be successful in increasing cooperation skills up to the high category, which indicates the effectiveness of learning in creating active interactions between students. However, other skills, such as creativity, communication, critical thinking, and innovation, are still in the medium category, which indicates that they still need further improvement and development. This study concludes that the integration of project-based learning and simulation has a positive effect on the abilities of students with uneven abilities. The integration of these learning approaches works synergistically by effectively linking theory and practice. Through project-based learning, students are encouraged to take an active role in designing, managing, and completing projects that directly contribute to their skill development. On the other hand, simulation functions as a complement that strengthens the effectiveness of project-based learning by presenting a real representation of the project by visualizing abstract concepts and allowing students to test the solutions they develop based on the project results.     Keywords: ability, competency, project-based learning, simulation, skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar matematika siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui apakah hasil belajar matematika siswa dengan model Problem Based Learning (PBL) lebih baik dari pada hasil belajar matematika siswa dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran konvensional. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain randomized control group only design. Populasi penelitian ini dalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 3 Batang Anai. Teknik yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Random Sampling. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan yaitu tes akhir, berbentuk essay dengan reabilitas 0,864. Hasil uji hipotesis diperoleh  3,78  dan  1,68 pada taraf nyata α = 0,05 maka  >  sehingga hipotesis diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kemampuan hasil belajar siswa dengan menerapkan model problem based learning (PBL) lebih baik dari hasil belajar siswa dengan menerapkan pembelajaran konvesional.

Abstract

Kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika peserta didik yang masih rendah menjadi latar belakang penelitian ini. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik kelas XI Teknik Pengelasan dan Fabrikasi Logam di SMK negeri 1 Ranah Batahan. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian pra-eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pretest-Postest pada satu kelas. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah soal tes dengan 2 soal yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah menerapkan Problem Based Learning (PBL). Pengambilan subjek Penelitian menggunakan total sampling di kelas XI Teknik Pengelasan dan Fabrikasi Logam. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah metode tes. Tes yang digunakan berbentuk essay dengan reliabilitasnya adalah 0,89. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah uji-t. Hasil uji hipotesis dengan berbantuan aplikasi minitab diperoleh P-value = 0,033 lebih kecil dari , maka hipotesis pada penelitian ini diterima. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penerapan model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis peserta didik kelas XI Teknik Pengelasan dan Fabrikasi Logam di SMK Negeri 1 Ranah Batahan Kabupaten Pasaman Barat.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct a preliminary analysis for the development of Android-based mathematics learning media on the topic of Systems of Linear Equations in Two Variables (SPLDV) for eighth-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Lembah Gumanti. The background of this research is the difficulty students face in understanding SPLDV concepts when relying solely on conventional teaching methods, as well as the limited learning media used by teachers. This study employed a qualitative descriptive approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and questionnaires involving mathematics teachers and eighth-grade students. The results showed that students encountered difficulties in solving SPLDV problems, particularly in problem modeling and the application of elimination and substitution methods. Furthermore, students were more interested in interactive digital media compared to printed books, and teachers also considered that Android-based media has the potential to enhance students’ motivation and comprehension. The analysis of student characteristics indicated that the majority were already familiar with Android devices, making this technology-based learning media suitable for implementation. Findings from interviews and literature reviews also support the need for Android-based learning media with interactive features, adaptive practice questions, and visual simulations.
