Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of humanistic-based group counseling to improve students' self-confidence. The research method uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 11 8th grade students of SMPN 234 Jakarta who have low self-confidence. The counseling process includes the stages of opening, transition, core activities, and ending. The results showed a significant increase in aspects of public speaking, assertiveness, and open acceptance of criticism. An empathetic, supportive, and non-judgmental counseling environment provides space for students to recognize their potential and increase their self-confidence. This study recommends the integration of a humanistic approach in school counseling programs to support students' psychological development.

Abstract

The family as the smallest social unit has an important role in the formation of personality and emotional well-being of individuals. However, violations of privacy in family relationships can cause psychological tension and feelings of anxiety, especially in adolescents and students. This study aims to understand the experiences of students who experience violations of privacy in the family environment and to describe the dynamics of group counseling with a humanistic approach in helping to manage the anxiety experienced. The research approach used was qualitative with a case study design, involving six students who participated in group counseling services. The findings showed that group counseling provided a safe and supportive space for participants to express their feelings and obtain emotional support. This resulted in increased self-awareness, emotional relief, and decreased levels of anxiety felt. This study contributes to the development of counseling practices, especially in the application of a humanistic approach to assist individuals experiencing emotional crises in the family context.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the impact of family violence on adolescents based on the results of group counseling on 15-year-old male adolescent subjects. Adolescents who experience verbal and physical violence in the family face major challenges in their emotional and behavioral development with a qualitative approach and case study, data collected through participant observation and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that violence from parents contributes to identity crises, emotional disturbances, and difficulties in establishing social relationships. Group counseling allows subjects to realize inner wounds, build new hopes, and strengthen emotional regulation. Through a qualitative approach and case study method, this article examines the psychological dynamics that emerge in subjects and the role of counseling in facilitating self-reflection and behavioral change. Group counseling has been shown to provide space for self-expression and reflection, becoming one of the effective approaches in helping psychological recovery.

Abstract

When students enter junior high school, many students have difficulty adapting to junior high school life, both in terms of academic, social, and independence. High self-regulation is needed for students to adapt well in junior high school. It is very important to train students to have high self-regulation, especially when students are just entering junior high school, namely in grade 7. Journaling method was chosen as one of the tools to improve students' self-regulation. This study only uses 2 (two) variables, namely: 1) Self-regulation, 2) Journaling Method; so that the research objectives are to obtain an overview of the use of journaling method to help improve students' self-regulation and obtain an overview of the effectiveness of using journaling method to help improve students' self-regulation. This research uses the Classroom Action Research method. The method was chosen because Classroom Action Research aims to solve real problems that occur in the classroom through actions taken in the classroom. This research was conducted at SMP Madania Parung, Bogor which is an inclusive school

Abstract

Validity and reliability are the main topics in every research instruments. It is important how to create research instrument that is connected to the construct being measured. In this article, the authors tested the validity and reliability of Holland's career instrument Indonesian version. The participants involved are in the period of career preparation and choice, within an educational institution or a job, but has not yet had satisfaction with their career. The participants' age range from 15 to 27 years. The validity test is carried out using the conventional validity type, where the item is declared valid if the correlation coefficient is ≥ 0.3. The results showed 43 items were declared valid and 5 items were declared invalid while the reliability coefficient found is 0.906. Based on the results, Holland's career instrument Indonesian version in a good instrument to measure career preparation and career choice.

Abstract

Peran penting pendidikan dalam upaya peningkatan kualitas psikologis khususnya usia remaja menjadi hal terpenting agar siswa dapat meningkatkan pengalaman, kesejahteraan sosial, ekonomi, dan psikologis. Umumnya pada usia remaja mereka mengalami berbagai perubahan baik dari segi fisiologis maupun psikologis, adapun masalah psikologis yang sering terjadi yaitu mengenai perubahan sosio-emosional, sehingga masa remaja sering dikenal dengan masa storm and stress. Sehingga perlu adanya upaya untuk meningkatkan pengelolaan emosi pada remaja dengan melakukan pelatihan Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Counseling (MBCC) pada guru-guru MGBK SMA se-Kota Bogor, yang nantinya dengan pelatihan ini para guru BK di sekolah dapat memberikan layanan mindfulness-based cognitive counseling pada siswa dalam upaya membantu siswa dalam menghadapi masalah yang sedang dihadapi baik di sekolah ataupun di rumah. Pengabdian pada masyarakat ini akan dilaksanakan dalam 2 tahap yaitu: identifikasi peserta, dan pelaksanaan pelatihan berkerjasama dengan MGBK SMA Kota Bogor. Kegiatan pelatihan MBCC memberikan dampak positif baik bagi Guru BK maupun pada konseli diantaranya adalah (1) melatih pikiran dan fokus, (2) menikmati hidup, (3) mencintai diri sendiri, (4) mengurangi stress. Aplikasi mindfulness dalam kehidupan sehari-hari misalnya melakukan meditasi, menulis jurnal, makan, berjalan, berkomunikasi dengan orang lain serta berinteraksi dengan anggota keluarga.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan penerimaan diri siswa di Sekolah Menengah Pertama melalui konseling kelompok behavioral. Masalah yang dihadapi adalah mengenai penerimaan diri di kalangan siswa dan berdampak negatif pada kesejahteraan psikologis dan sosial mereka. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi eksperiment dengan pendekatan kualitatif dengan desain. Populasi terdiri dari 99 siswa pada kelas VIII. Kemudian dipilih lima sampel untuk melakukan konseling kelompok. Pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan observasi di dalam sesi konseling kelompok. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan penerimaan diri siswa setelah mengikuti konseling kelompok behavioral. Pendekatan behavioral efektif untuk meningkatkan penerimaan diri siswa. Teknik penguatan dalam konseling kelompok di lingkungan SMP masih belum banyak diterapkan dalam penelitian sebelumnya.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of parenting styles on adolescent behavior using a qualitative case study approach within a group counseling setting. The subjects consisted of six adolescents aged 13–15 years from SMPN 17 Bekasi, West Java, Indonesia each with different parenting backgrounds. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, observation, and documentation, and were validated using triangulation and discussions with the school counselor. The findings indicate that authoritarian, permissive, and neglectful parenting styles negatively affect adolescents' social and emotional behavior, such as anxiety, aggression, withdrawal, and involvement in deviant behaviors. Group counseling helped explore the subjects' experiences and emotions; however, some cases indicated the need for additional intervention through individual counseling. These findings highlight the importance of collaboration between counselors, parents, and schools in establishing parenting styles that support adolescents' positive development.
