Abstract

Library facilities are all types of equipment, work equipment and other service facilities that function as the main / auxiliary tool in carrying out work or everything that is used, used, occupied and enjoyed by users. User satisfaction is a condition where the desires, expectations and needs of customers are met. A service is considered satisfactory if the service can meet the needs and expectations of customers. The purpose of this study was to determine whether or not the influence of library facilities on user satisfaction at the library of UIN North Sumatra Medan. This research approach uses quantitative. Data collection techniques using observation techniques and questionnaires. The data analysis technique used simple linear regression analysis with the help of SPSS version 22 software. The results of this study indicate that there is an influence of library facilities on user satisfaction at the UIN North Sumatra Medan Library.

Abstract

This study discusses the library strategy of SMK Negeri 1 Stabat in the application of SLiMS automation to library services and activities, as well as the obstacles faced in carrying out the SLiMS implementation strategy in the library. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results showed that the SLiMS implementation strategy in the library of SMK Negeri 1 Stabat had three stages, where the initial stage was the procurement process for the SLiMS system, the implementation stage was the implementation process in the library, and the third stage was the evaluation stage, namely assessing deficiencies in the SLiMS system. The obstacles faced are network, space, and human resources (HR) problems.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the library's strategy in carrying out library promotions during the covid-19 pandemic as well as the obstacles felt by libraries and also how to overcome the obstacles that occur. The method used in this study is a qualitative method using a descriptive approaches. The data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observations and documentation. The results of this study indicate that the library promotion strategy during the covid-19 pandemic carried out by libraries is by holding library socialization, mobile libraries, promotion through social media, making advertisements, collaborating with other parties and making rewards (gifts). While the obstacles that occur are network limitations and budget funds. The way to overcome the perceived obstacles is the installation of wi-fi.

Abstract

This study aims (1) to find out how the perception of users of the Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Medan Library related to facilities and infrastructure, (2) to find out the obstacles faced by libraries in providing facilities and infrastructure (3) to find out the efforts made by libraries in provide facilities and infrastructure. The method used in this study uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data collection techniques in this study through observation, interviews and documentation. The results of the research are user perceptions regarding the area of the room, reading tables and chairs, storage of goods, spatial planning, room decoration, collections, wifi and library computers still do not make users feel comfortable and have not been used optimally by library users. In addition, the obstacles faced by the library according to user perceptions can be seen from the facilities and infrastructure that are still inadequate to what is expected by library users. Efforts that have been made by the library in overcoming these obstacles are by submitting a proposal to the principal so that the facilities and infrastructure in the library are adequate and meet the needs of library users. In addition, the efforts made by the library are also through donations of books from students of MAN 1 Medan.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui sejarah kedatukan urung suka piring di Sumatera Timur tahun 1823-1946, dengan fokus pada dinamika politik, sosial, dan ekonomi dalam konteks transformasi kolonial dan lokal. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode historis dengan empat tahap utama yaitu heuristik, verifikasi, interpretasi, dan historiografi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa Kedatukan Urung Suka Piring berperan penting dalam suksesi Kesultanan Deli dan adaptasi terhadap perubahan sosial ekonomi akibat migrasi dan modernisasi. Selain itu, kawasan strategis seperti Kota Maksum, Kesawan, dan Polonia di wilayah Kedatukan Sukapiring mencerminkan perkembangan penting dalam konteks sosial, ekonomi, dan politik pada masa kolonial. Penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya Kedatukan Urung Suka Piring dalam sejarah Sumatera Timur dan memberikan perspektif komprehensif tentang transisi dari sistem tradisional ke era modern di Indonesia. Simpulan penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa Kesawan, Polonia, dan Maksum di Medan memiliki kontribusi signifikan terhadap sejarah sosial, ekonomi, dan politik di Timor-Leste, khususnya dalam konteks Urung Suka Piring. Kesawan bertransformasi menjadi pusat bisnis modern, sementara Polonia menjadi kota penting dalam sejarah wilayah tersebut. Maksum, kota besar, memengaruhi struktur sosial wilayah tersebut karena pengaruh kolonial dan migrasi. Kata Kunci: Kedatukan Urung Suka Piring, Sejarah.

Abstract

The topic of this paper is about Cultural Acculturation. The main reason this research was raised because in Kisaran, Asahan Regency, there has been a cultural acculturation between the Toba Batak and Malay. The Toba Batak tribe located in Toba Regency is a migrant tribe that has entered the lowlands of the east coast, especially in Asahan Regency which is rich in agricultural and plantation resources. Cultural diversity between the Batak and Malay tribes occurred in Asahan when the Batak people migrated to the Malay lands. This study explains First, how the process of Batak-Malay cultural acculturation occurred in Kisaran. Second, it explains the Migration and Integration of Batak culture into Malay culture in Kisaran Asahan. Third, the forms of Cultural Acculturation between Batak and Malay. The method used in this study is Qualitative with a Historical approach. The location of the research was carried out around the Kisaran city area, Asahan Regency. Data was obtained through an in-depth interview process involving informants, community leaders, religious leaders and academics. Then other data is strengthened from reputable books and journals related to the topic being studied. This study found that in Kisaran, Asahan Regency, there has been a Cultural Acculturation where the Batak people have carried out traditions and customs from the Malays. The acculturation between these two cultures gave birth to a Malay culture that has characteristics that are different from the Malay culture in the archipelago. The Malays in this city have traits and characteristics that tend to be rough and tough, like the character of the Toba Batak ethnic group.

Abstract

This research discusses the "Utilization of Periodical Publications by Students at the Library of Politeknik Negeri Medan." The study was conducted at the Library of Politeknik Negeri Medan. The aim of this research is to identify the periodical publication collections, understand their utilization, and recognize the obstacles or challenges faced by users in utilizing these collections. The research utilized a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through three stages: data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that the existing periodical publication collections have been utilized by patrons in their daily activities to search for references to fulfill academic assignments. However, obstacles and challenges in utilizing these collections include incomplete collections, limited user knowledge about periodical publications, and insufficient library promotion at the Library of Politeknik Negeri Medan.

Abstract

In response to the growing competition within the culinary industry in Medan, this study aims to analyze the marketing communication strategy implemented by Slice Coffee Medan in attracting customer interest and fostering brand loyalty. The research focuses on identifying the core components of Slice Coffee's marketing communication, evaluating their effectiveness, and understanding their impact on consumer behavior and purchasing decisions. A qualitative case study approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with the café’s management and customers, surveys, and on-site observations. These methods enabled a comprehensive understanding of how the café leverages digital platforms—particularly Instagram and TikTok—visual aesthetics, targeted promotional campaigns, and two-way interactive engagement to shape customer perceptions. Data triangulation, member checking, and audit trails were applied to ensure research validity. The findings reveal that Slice Coffee’s integrated strategy—highlighted by campaigns such as the “Slice Signature Challenge”—successfully transforms customers into brand advocates, with measurable outcomes including a 32% increase in new visits and a 25% rise in customer return rate within six months. Additionally, the café’s focus on visual storytelling and customer-centric interaction has resulted in strong brand recall and emotional attachment among its core demographic of young, digitally active consumers. This study concludes that an integrated and interactive marketing communication strategy, when aligned with customer preferences and supported by consistent branding efforts, can significantly enhance brand competitiveness and sustainability. The results offer both theoretical contributions to the field of marketing communication and practical recommendations for coffee shop businesses in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the concept of religious moderation and its indicators as formulated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, based on selected verses from the Qur’an and interpreted through the perspective of Tafsir Al-Munir. The research employs a descriptive-analytical method, in which the author gathers relevant Qur’anic verses and analyzes them using Tafsir Al-Munir as the primary source. Additional data are obtained from classical and contemporary tafsir literature, as well as other supporting scholarly works relevant to the topic. This study emphasizes the importance of balance in the lives of Muslims through the concept of wasathiyyah, national commitment, and the principle of tolerance. Violence and radicalism are considered threats to social harmony, while openness to local culture is encouraged as long as it remains in accordance with Islamic law. In conclusion, balance, tolerance, and appreciation of culture and nationalism are key to building a harmonious and religious society. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami moderasi agama secara umum dan indikator-indikatornya yang dirumuskan oleh Kementerian Agama RI berdasarkan ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an dan tafsir menurut perspektif Tafsir Al-Munir . Dalam penulisan penelitian ini, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif analitis. Penulis mengumpulkan ayat-ayat Al-Qur'an yang terkait, kemudian menganalisisnya dengan menggunakan kitab Tafsir Al-Munir sebagai sumber utama. Sedangkan data yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini dirujuk dari kitab-kitab tafsir dan buku-buku lain yang relevan dengan penelitian ini. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya keseimbangan dalam kehidupan umat Islam melalui konsep wasathiyyah, komitmen kebangsaan, serta prinsip toleransi. Kekerasan dan radikalisme dianggap sebagai ancaman bagi harmoni sosial, sementara keterbukaan terhadap budaya lokal dianjurkan selama tetap sesuai dengan syariat Islam. Kesimpulannya, keseimbangan, toleransi, dan penghargaan terhadap budaya dan kebangsaan menjadi kunci dalam membangun masyarakat yang harmonis dan religius.

Abstract

Nonverbal communication plays a strategic role in fostering effective interpersonal relationships, particularly in dynamic work environments such as the event organizer (EO) industry. This study is motivated by the limited research that specifically explores how nonverbal communication elements enhance coordination and team interaction quality in high-pressure EO settings. The primary aim of this research is to analyze the role of nonverbal communication in strengthening interpersonal relationships within the EO workplace and to identify the most influential nonverbal cues contributing to team effectiveness. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method at a selected EO company in Medan, Indonesia. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation. The study involved purposively selected participants, including supervisors, event coordinators, field staff, and liaison officers, based on their direct experience with team communication. The findings reveal that nonverbal elements such as facial expressions, eye contact, hand gestures, and body posture play crucial roles in conveying instructions, fostering team unity, and building trust among team members and with clients. However, challenges such as cultural differences in interpreting nonverbal cues and high work pressure sometimes hinder effective communication. The study concludes that nonverbal communication serves as a vital tool in creating cohesive teamwork and a harmonious working atmosphere in EO environments. Practically, this research implies the need for structured nonverbal communication training for EO staff to improve coordination and minimize misunderstandings. Academically, it contributes to the development of organizational communication studies and offers a foundation for future research in creative industries and other high-pressure work settings.
