Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas tentang peran perpustakaan kota pematang siantar dalam program perpustakaan berbasis inklusi sosial. Tujuan penelitian  ini adalah untuk  mengetahui apa saja bentuk program inklusi sosial yang sudah diterapkan oleh perpustakaan kota pematang siantar.   Metode penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara, observasi dan dokumentasi. Informan dalam penelitian ini yaitu pustakawan di Perpustakaan kota pematang siantar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Perpustakaan kota pematang siantar telah mekasanakan program inklusi sosial yang berperan aktif dalam Kegiatan tersebut.  bertujuan untuk melakukan penyebaran literasi kepada masyarakat dan memperkenalkan fungsi dari perpustakaan   dihadiri oleh   mahasiswa dan pelajar yang ada di kota pematang siantar.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the application of Personal Information Management (PIM) in final year students at the Library Science Study Program, North Sumatra State Islamic University (UINSU). By using a qualitative approach and phenomenological methods, this research seeks to understand students' experiences and awareness in managing personal information. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with six students selected using purposive sampling. The research results revealed that students face challenges in dealing with an abundance of information, which often leads to information overload. The PIM strategy implemented includes the activities of finding, storing, organizing, maintaining and managing the flow of information. However, there are significant differences in personal information management skills among students that may be due to differences in educational background and technology experience. This research emphasizes the importance of effective PIM development strategies to help students better manage their personal information. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi penerapan Manajemen Informasi Pribadi (Personal Information Management/PIM) pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir di Program Studi Ilmu Perpustakaan Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU). Dengan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode fenomenologi, penelitian ini berusaha memahami pengalaman serta kesadaran mahasiswa dalam mengelola informasi pribadi. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara mendalam dengan enam mahasiswa yang dipilih secara purposive sampling. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan dalam menangani informasi yang berlimpah, yang sering kali menyebabkan overload informasi. Strategi PIM yang diterapkan mencakup aktivitas menemukan, menyimpan, mengorganisasi, memelihara, dan mengelola aliran informasi. Namun, terdapat perbedaan signifikan dalam keterampilan manajemen informasi pribadi di kalangan mahasiswa yang mungkin disebabkan oleh perbedaan latar belakang pendidikan dan pengalaman teknologi. Penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya pengembangan strategi PIM yang efektif untuk membantu mahasiswa dalam mengelola informasi pribadi mereka dengan lebih baik. Kata Kunci: Manajemen Informasi Pribadi, Personal Information Management, Mahasiswa, Overload Informasi, Teknologi Informasi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of school libraries in improving reading literacy among students of Al-Ulum Terpadu. School libraries play an important role in education, not only as a provider of information sources, but also as a facilitator of reading literacy skills development. Qualitative descriptive method with case study approach was used to explore the contribution of school libraries in improving students' reading interest and ability. Data collection was conducted through observation, in-depth interviews with librarians and teachers, and questionnaires to students. The results of the study indicate that school libraries have a significant role in supporting reading literacy through various programs, such as fostering reading interest, providing relevant and quality book collections, and literacy activities integrated with the curriculum. The active participation of libraries in these activities has been shown to increase student engagement in reading activities. In addition, the findings of this study emphasize the importance of synergy between libraries, teachers, and parents in building a sustainable reading culture. This study suggests that school libraries continue to strengthen their role in creating a conducive learning environment and supporting the development of student literacy. It is hoped that collaborative steps involving various parties will further increase the effectiveness of libraries as centers of literacy and learning. The implications of this study emphasize the importance of the role of school libraries in improving students' reading literacy. Schools need to increase support for libraries through the provision of quality collections and sustainable literacy programs. Librarian training and collaboration with teachers and parents must be optimized to create a strong reading culture. Educational policies that encourage the use of libraries as literacy centers need to be strengthened, so that libraries can function optimally as agents of change in developing student literacy. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran perpustakaan sekolah dalam meningkatkan literasi membaca di kalangan siswa Al-Ulum Terpadu. Perpustakaan sekolah memainkan peran penting dalam pendidikan, tidak hanya sebagai penyedia sumber informasi, tetapi juga sebagai fasilitator pengembangan keterampilan literasi membaca. Metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan pendekatan studi kasus digunakan untuk mengeksplorasi kontribusi perpustakaan sekolah dalam meningkatkan minat dan kemampuan membaca siswa. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara mendalam dengan pustakawan dan guru, serta angket kepada siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perpustakaan sekolah memiliki peran signifikan dalam mendukung literasi membaca melalui berbagai program, seperti pembinaan minat baca, penyediaan koleksi buku relevan dan berkualitas, serta kegiatan literasi yang terintegrasi dengan kurikulum. Partisipasi aktif perpustakaan dalam kegiatan-kegiatan ini terbukti dapat meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam kegiatan membaca. Selain itu, temuan penelitian ini menekankan pentingnya sinergi antara perpustakaan, guru, dan orang tua dalam membangun budaya membaca yang berkelanjutan. Studi ini menyarankan perpustakaan sekolah untuk terus memperkuat perannya dalam menciptakan lingkungan belajar yang kondusif dan mendukung pengembangan literasi siswa. Diharapkan bahwa langkah-langkah kolaboratif yang melibatkan berbagai pihak akan semakin meningkatkan efektivitas perpustakaan sebagai pusat literasi dan pembelajaran. Implikasi penelitian ini menegaskan pentingnya peran perpustakaan sekolah dalam meningkatkan literasi membaca siswa. Pihak sekolah perlu meningkatkan dukungan terhadap perpustakaan melalui pengadaan koleksi berkualitas dan program literasi yang berkelanjutan. Pelatihan pustakawan dan kolaborasi dengan guru serta orang tua harus dioptimalkan untuk menciptakan budaya membaca yang kuat. Kebijakan pendidikan yang mendorong pemanfaatan perpustakaan sebagai pusat literasi perlu diperkuat, sehingga perpustakaan dapat berfungsi maksimal sebagai agen perubahan dalam pengembangan literasi siswa.

Abstract

Established in 1937, Muhammadiyah made its debut in Southeast Aceh through Minangkabau migrants, propagating its teachings and organization. Despite initial challenges, including misconceptions labeling Muhammadiyah as Wahabi or Salafi, it emerged as a Quran and Hadith-based movement. Utilizing historical research methods, this study explores Muhammadiyah's impact on Southeast Aceh, revealing rapid acceptance among the Alas people due to their existing religious understanding. Muhammadiyah significantly influenced the region, targeting social, educational, and religious spheres for renewal. Its presence led to the establishment of educational institutions and social development, resonating deeply with the community's needs. Muhammadiyah's role in Southeast Aceh exemplifies its broader mission to enrich Islamic practices and community welfare, underscoring its profound influence in the region's religious and social landscape. Through its multifaceted initiatives, Muhammadiyah continues to shape the socio-religious fabric of Southeast Aceh, embodying a dynamic force for positive change in the community.

Abstract

The formation of history is more than just recording past events. More than that, history can illuminate human development. Because history is the chronological development of humanity. Ibn Khaldūn and Karl Marx are two influential philosophers who have discussed human civilization. Ibn Khaldūn, a medieval philosopher, focused on the unity of the people, while Karl Marx, a modern philosopher, examined historical change through the lens of class (the caste that plays a role in historical change). This research aims to analyze historical change, or what the pair represents. The author uses primary sources, including Ibn Khaldūn' s Muqaddimah and Karl Marx: Selected Writings, to collect relevant data. Thereafter, the study utilized desk research with descriptive, analytical, and interpretative methods. This research proposes the same method to discuss Islamic philosophy in history between Ibn Khaldūn and Karl Marx, although it is not necessarily the same. Ibn Khaldūn's historical research reflects the perspective of the classical period, while Karl Marx's reflects the modern situation. In their theories, both Ibn Khaldūn and Karl Marx emphasized community, including the state, society, and bonds ('ashābiyyah) as the roots of the growth of the philosophy of history. Both theories present the philosophy of history in a similar way, although there are differences.

Abstract

This research examines the dynamics of Chinese Muslim development in Medan City in the period 1965-1998. Using the historical method and literature review approach, this research analyzes the development and changes that occurred in the Chinese Muslim community in Medan during the New Order period. The results show that the position and role of Chinese Muslims underwent significant changes during the period, from post-G30S/PKI stigmatization to a more positive portrayal of their contributions in the social, economic and religious fields. The formation of the Persatuan Islam Tionghoa Indonesia (PITI) in 1961 and its transformation into Pembina Iman Tauhid Indonesia in 1972 were important milestones in the development of this community. Despite facing various challenges such as discrimination and negative stereotypes, Chinese Muslims in Medan managed to build their dual identity as Muslims and Chinese through a complex process of cultural assimilation and social interaction. This research reveals that the socio-political dynamics of the period affected the public perception and integration process of the Chinese Muslim community into the wider Medan society.

Abstract

The use of e-journals includes user activities in utilizing journals as a means of obtaining the necessary information. Information in journals is scientific and up-to-date, covering various branches of science. Currently, journals have been provided in electronic versions that ca n be accessed in various ways, which in terms of access are divided into two categories, namely open access e-journals and closed access e-journals. In this study, researchers have the aim of analyzing the use of e-journals as a source of student learning, to what extent is the effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction of these electronic journals for students at Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra with a measurement method utilizing the System Usability Scale (SUS).

Abstract

Creating a balance between human health and the environment is very important to implement. In this case, pollution caused by cigarette smoke is a disruption of the creation of a balance of human health and the environment. In several districts/cities, regional regulations on No Smoking Areas (KTR) have now been implemented. North Labuhanbatu Regency is one of the regions that has implemented this regulation, through KTR regional regulation number 33 of 2022. The local government of North Labuhanbatu Regency in this case makes no-smoking warnings in every corner of the KTR in the region as a form of optimizing PERDA no 33 of 2022. This research uses qualitative methods, the source of information from this research is obtained through activities, interviews, observations, and documentation studies. The research subjects in this study include the health department, district government, and the surrounding community. The object of research is the optimization of the application of KTR. The results showed that the North Labuhanbatu district government was still not effective in optimizing local regulation number 33 of 2022 regarding KTR. In an effort to overcome these problems, an integrated strategy is needed for the KTR PERDA.

Abstract

Backgrounds: Indonesia is the second-largest cigarette market in the world, with an increased smoking rate among young people aged 10-18 years. The latest data show that smoking is increasingly common in youth. Tobacco control will reduce public demand for tobacco products, especially if the supply of tobacco can be limited. Methods: This study, conducted in Tebing Tinggi City, North Sumatra Province, aimed to collect data on the density of cigarette sellers around schools and their impact on students' smoking behavior. The research involved 1914 students from 10 schools, examining factors such as smoking laws, age at first smoking, daily cigarette consumption, location, and advertisements. The study used a cross-sectional design, GPS coordinates, QGIS 3.0 analysis, and in-depth interviews with a Tebing Tinggi City Health Office representative. The findings will be analyzed using the JASP computer program. Results: The study shows that 8.2% of adolescents in Tebing Tinggi City have never smoked, with mixed views on the smoking law. The majority do not smoke, with varying smoking rates and exposure to cigarette advertisements. The study also found a high density of cigarette sellers in junior and senior high schools, indicating a lack of awareness about smoking. Conclusions: Most adolescents in Kota Tebing Tinggi do not smoke, with mixed views on the smoking law. They are exposed to cigarette advertisements in school and home environments, with vendors providing easy access. Increased awareness and effective law enforcement are needed to control cigarette advertising and sales.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengukur efektivitas program Rabu Membaca Rabu Menulis (RAME-RAME) terhadap minat baca siswa di UPT SMP Negeri 27 Medan. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen One Group Pretest-Posttest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa-siswi UPT SMP Negeri 27 Medan kelas VIII sebanyak 310 siswa dengan sampel 76 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa angket atau kuesioner dengan menggunakan skala likert. Uji prasyarat analisis data penelitian menggunakan uji normalitas dan homogenitas. Uji homogenitas menunjukkan data tidak homogen, sehingga teknik analisis data menggunakan uji Welch’s ANOVA. Hasil penelitian menggunakan uji Welch’s ANOVA menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang sangat signifikan antara nilai pretest dan posttest dengan nilai signifikansi < 0,001. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa program RAME–RAME efektif terhadap minat baca siswa UPT SMP Negeri 27 Medan.
