Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the adaptation of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learners to AI-based writing tools in academic context. Although AI-based writing tools were progressively implemented into language education, limited research has explored how EFL learners interpreted and adapted to these tools. In particular, structured frameworks are infrequently applied to comprehensively analyze this perception. The study employed a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis to investigate EFL learners’ perceptions of AI writing tools such as Chat-GPT, Grammarly, or Quillbot. Data were gathered through semi-structured interviews involving 25 university EFL students. The findings uncovered that students conceived time efficiency and instant grammar feedback as key strengths. In contrast, excessive reliance and deficiency of deep academic understanding were seen as major weaknesses. Opportunities comprised enhanced writing confidence and facilitated idea generation and structured academic writing, while threats focus on diminished critical thinking and passive plagiarism. The results emphasized the demand for ethical pedagogical strategies to guide AI integration in language education.

Abstract

This research aims to analyse the impact of the MBKM-based KUKIS learning model, the village building scheme, which has been applied to students of English Education study program. The KUKIS learning model is adapted from the Project-Based Learning model. Descriptive research method with a quantitative approach is used in this research. Questionnaires and interviews are used as instruments to collect data from the selected research sample using purposive sampling technique. The results of data analysis show that the application of KUKIS is able to contribute positively to students' ability to fulfil learning outcomes which include attitudes, general skills, special skills, and mastery of knowledge. Likewise for the aspect of MBKM objectives, students assessed that the application of the KUKIS learning model is able to contribute positively to the achievement of MBKM goals, both soft skills and hard skills of students.

Abstract

Technology integration is a benefit for students to learn differently to achieve goals and create the most important part of student life today. Google Classroom is a trend of blended learning in higher education that changes the strategy of delivering learning and teaching. The aim of this exploratory study is to investigate whether or not this application can be covered to develop or support learning in a Bachelor level of English Language Education program to facilitate student achievement. The test design was used to analyze student performance and the survey of perceptions of the use of Google Classroom was evaluated statistically using a questionnaire. The results revealed that students who participated in answering questions at the pretest found that there was no significant difference between the control group (45%) and also the experimental group (45.45%). In the posttest results, the two groups obtained an increase within the value of the final examination, however the contribution of 5th-semester students with the utilization of Google Classroom specifically benefited those with higher grades (81.82%) compared to third-semester students (70%). Moreover, the results of the student perceptions survey during this study indicate the use of Google Classroom is observed positively as a technology which will modernize dynamic learning and engagement, stimulate critical thinking and their participation if used suitably for learning functions.

Abstract

This research was aimed at finding out the way of the teacher in implementing of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) in teaching English at class of SMPN 1 Enrekang, exploring the media, problems, and types of CLT activities that students prefer. The population of this research was the teachers and the students of SMPN 1 Enrekang. The sample was three teachers and two classes. In this research, the data were obtained through three kinds of instruments namely, observation checklist, interview, and questionnaire. The result showed the ways of teacher in implementing of CLT were the teachers used principles of CLT methodology stated by Richards (2006:13). Moreover, the researcher found two other ways. Firstly, the teacher always tried to use creative ways/activities in applying Richards’s principles of CLT methodology in order not only to motivate and interest but also to decrease the boredom of students in learning English. Secondly, the teacher showed her sympathy, sensitivity, and understanding to their students’ needs and problems. Generally the problems encountered by the teachers were the students rarely communicated with others using English in daily life so they are lack of English proficiency. The media used by teacher were authentic materials, non-authentic material, listening exercises, internet, and computer based program. The result of questionnaire calculation is about 49.71. This result is in like categories as stated in Liker scale. Based on the data, the top rank of CLT activities that students prefer was task completion activities (100% of students).

Abstract

The subject of this research was vocabulary class in the Muhammadiyah University of Enrekang, 2021/2022 academic year. The data were in the form of quantitative data. The quantitative data were collected from the students’ vocabulary score of pre-test and post-test to see the improvement of the students’ vocabulary mastery. The research findings showed that vocabulary mastery of most students’ increase after body movement game technique was used in the teaching and learning process. It was indicated by the increase of the mean students’ vocabulary score in the pre-test and post-test (52, 07 to 76, 57). The students’ involvement and classroom interaction during the implantation of the game were increased. It was showed by students’ enthusiasm during the game. They tried to be the first winner and raised their competitiveness among them. In addition, the implementation of Body Movement Game technique and the complementary actions were successful to help the students’ memorize and understand new words easily. In conclusion, the students’ vocabulary mastery was increased through the implementation of Body Movement Game.

Abstract

The international internship program was the topic of this research provides opportunities for students to be involved in community service conducted abroad. This research was qualitative by taking data from eight students who participated in this international internship program. The results of this study used a descriptive method. This study aims to analyze the problems faced and the solutions used by the intern students of the Muhammadiyah University of Enrekang batch 2. The results of this study indicate that there are 8 problems faced by interns, including administrative problems, health, psychological, culture shock, language barriers, teaching assignments, social, and available facilities. Apart from the problem, this research also includes the solutions used by the interns to solve these problems. With this research, it can be used as a reference or guideline for students who want to take part in international internships later

Abstract

Abstract: The theory distinguishes human based on four different personality types such as: sanguine, choleric, melancholic, and phlegmatic. Different types of personality caused by differences in the dominant fluid in the body. These differences will result in terms of behavior, ways of thinking and to get along. The type of this research that is descriptive qualitative which it is describing the logical reasoning based on Hippocrates personality types. The logical reasoning is analyzed through the four types of personality in relation to mathematical problem solving. The Analysis is done based on the logical reasoning indicator/ subindicator and the steps of problem solving stated by Polya. The result shows that there is a reasoning difference on each type of personalities. The difference can be terms of the strenght or the weakness. Sanguine is quicker in understanding problems and communicating results, choleric is more accelerated in work, melancholic is more perfect at work, and phlegmatic is superior in terms of accuracy. Abstract

Mahasiswa di berbagai perguruan tinggi masih menghadapi kendala dalam mengelola referensi secara sistematis dan konsisten, terutama dalam proses sitasi dan penyusunan daftar pustaka yang sesuai standar akademik. Keterbatasan literasi digital akademik ini berdampak pada kualitas karya ilmiah dan menghambat efisiensi penulisan. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan mahasiswa dalam menggunakan Mendeley sebagai reference manager untuk mendukung penulisan ilmiah yang akurat dan berintegritas. Program dilaksanakan secara daring dengan melibatkan 85 peserta dari berbagai program studi dan institusi. Metode kegiatan meliputi survei awal tingkat pemahaman, pemaparan materi, demonstrasi dan praktik langsung, serta sesi refleksi untuk mengevaluasi pemahaman peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kemampuan peserta dalam mengimpor referensi, melakukan sitasi otomatis, dan menyusun daftar pustaka dengan format yang konsisten. Selain itu, peserta melaporkan peningkatan efisiensi kerja dan pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang pentingnya manajemen referensi dalam penulisan ilmiah. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa pelatihan berbasis praktik secara daring dapat menjadi strategi efektif dalam penguatan literasi digital akademik. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini berhasil mencapai tujuan pengabdian dan memberikan dampak positif terhadap kesiapan mahasiswa dalam menghasilkan karya ilmiah yang lebih berkualitas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs for basic Mandarin and English language learning that has been conducted at a private junior high school in Makassar, as a reference for determining whether this activity should be continued and for the development of learning materials and syllabus creation. This study identifies the challenges in learning Mandarin and English after attending Mandarin and English lessons, the benefits of learning Mandarin and English, the continuity of the basic Mandarin and English training program, and the needs for learning basic Mandarin and English based on the four core language skills. This research uses a descriptive-analytical method with a quantitative approach. The data was obtained through a questionnaire distributed to 15 respondents, consisting of junior high school students from a private school in Makassar, teachers, and parents. The analysis of the questionnaire data indicates that the respondents are interested in learning Mandarin and English by increasing the number of study hours and changing the learning themes, as 53.3% of them feel they have already understood the current material well enough. In terms of Hanzi recognition and writing, they experienced significant difficulties—93.3% of the participants reported that they found learning Hanzi to be challenging. The overall results of the needs analysis for basic Mandarin and English learning suggest that students require Mandarin skills primarily to understand simple conversations and basic vocabulary.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memperkenalkan seni dan budaya Tiongkok kepada masyarakat melalui pementasan Yishu Yu Wenhua yang dilakukan oleh mahasiswa semester I Program Studi Pendidikan Bahasa Mandarin, Universitas Negeri Makassar. Pementasan ini merupakan bagian dari proyek akhir perkuliahan yang menekankan pada kolaborasi, kreativitas, dan keterlibatan langsung mahasiswa dalam produksi karya budaya. Kegiatan menampilkan berbagai bentuk kesenian, seperti tarian, nyanyian, puisi, permainan tradisional, fashion show, makanan tradisional, kaligrafi, serta seni lukis khas Tiongkok. Metode kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui pendekatan Project-Based Learning (PjBL) meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan proyek, pementasan serta evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman masyarakat terhadap seni dan budaya Tiongkok, serta berkembangnya kemampuan mahasiswa dalam manajemen acara, komunikasi, dan apresiasi budaya lintas negara. Pementasan ini membuktikan bahwa pendekatan PjBL efektif dalam mengintegrasikan pembelajaran bahasa dan budaya secara aplikatif melalui pertunjukan budaya.
