Abstract

Kata Kunci: Edukasi Obat, Manajemen Obat, Peningkatan Kesehatan, RemajaVarious health issues, particularly those related to medication use, remain prevalent in society and are often attributed to a lack of understanding regarding proper medication management and usage. One of the effective strategies to address this issue is the implementation of the DAGUSIBU (Obtain, Use, Store, Dispose) program, particularly targeted at adolescents, as early-age drug misuse is a critical concern requiring serious attention. The primary objective of this outreach initiative is to educate adolescent students and enhance their understanding of proper medication use through the DAGUSIBU program. The program was delivered through interactive lectures and discussions with students at SMPN 1 Konawe Selatan, focusing on appropriate methods for obtaining, using, storing, and disposing of medications. The increase in students' understanding was assessed through their enthusiasm and ability to correctly respond to questions. The results indicated a notable improvement in students' comprehension of proper medication use, along with greater awareness of the pharmacist's role. Overall, the outreach program was conducted successfully, as evidenced by high levels of enthusiasm, positive feedback, and active student participation in discussions, which significantly enhanced their understanding. This initiative is expected to contribute to improving awareness and understanding among adolescents and the wider community regarding proper medication management, thereby potentially reducing the risk of drug misuse in the future.

Abstract

The abuse of Narcotics, Psychotropics, and Addictive Substances (NAPZA) has become a serious issue among adolescents, including junior high school students. A lack of understanding and low awareness of the dangers of NAPZA can increase the risk of misuse at an early age. This community service activity aimed to enhance the knowledge and awareness of students at SMP Negeri 10 Kendari regarding the dangers of NAPZA and strategies for its prevention. The method used was an educational intervention through interactive counseling sessions, including discussions and the distribution of educational materials. Evaluation results showed an improvement in students' understanding of the types of NAPZA, the consequences of misuse, and prevention efforts. This activity demonstrates that appropriate and communicative education can serve as an effective preventive measure to reduce the potential for NAPZA abuse among students.

Abstract

A toxicity test is a test to detect the toxic effect of a substance on a biological system and to obtain typical dose-response data from the test preparation. This study aims to determine the content of secondary metabolites from the aqueous extract and ethanolic extract of gardenia leaves, characterization of gardenia leaf extract, and acute toxicity using the BSLT method against Artemia salina Leach shrimp larvae.Phytochemical screening tests were carried out by the color change method which included the alkaloid test, flavonoid test, tannin test, saponin test, and terpenoid test. Extract characterization tests include determination of water-soluble extract, determination of ethanol-soluble extract, determination of water content, and determination of ash content. Acute toxicity test using the Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method using Artemia salina Leach shrimp larvae. The results of the phytochemical screening test for the aqueous extract of gardenia leaves showed positive results on saponins, while the phytochemical screening tests on ethanol extracts showed positive results on alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids. The results of the characterization test on the aqueous extract of gardenia leaves were that the ethanol-soluble extract content was 20.19%, the water-soluble extract content was 23.17%, the water content was 99.13% and the ash content was 0.29%. Meanwhile, in the ethanolic extract of gardenia leaves, the ethanol-soluble extract content was 60.80%, the water-soluble extract content was 57.14%, the water content was 7.87% and the ash content was 3.22%. The results show that gardenia leaves are not toxic with the LC50 value of the water extract of the gardenia leaves is 1399.64 g/mL and the LC50 value of the ethanolic extract of the gardenia leaves is 1080.96 so that it can be used as traditional medicine.

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease that is still a global health problem, caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which is acid-resistant and mainly attacks the lungs, but can also attack other organs. This disease can affect people of all ages, including babies, children, adults, and the elderly. TB transmission occurs through the air from people who cough or sneeze, with the main factors affecting public health being environmental factors and behaviours, such as uncovered coughing and poor sanitation. TB cases in Southeast Sulawesi Province have shown a significant upward trend in recent years, with the incidence rate continuing to rise every year. The success of TB treatment is influenced by a variety of factors, including medication adherence, which is a major challenge to avoid the emergence of drug resistance, such as TB-MDR. The Government of Indonesia has issued policies and focuses on reducing TB incidence through education and socialisation to encourage active community involvement in TB control to achieve the national target by 2030.
