Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of information services in advanced studies assisted by Adobe Flash media in increasing motivation for further studies in high school students. The experimental research method uses the design of one group pre-test – post-test involving 8 students who have very low motivation for further study. The results of this study indicate that the motivation of further study of students before being given information on further study assisted by Adobe Flash media, the average motivation for further study was 94.25 (SD = 6.29), then an increase after being given information services with Adobe Flash assisted study of 294.25 (SD = 9.57). The paired sample t-test results showed that Adobe Flash assisted information services were effective in increasing the motivation of further study of high school students (t(7) = 51.396, p < 0.01). This study confirms that information services for further studies assisted by Adobe Flash media can be applied to increase the motivation for further studies of high school students.

This study used pre-test – post-test one group design by involving seven students as the sample to form a group chosen by using purposive sampling. For more, treatments for the group were done in the five times session through experiential learning strategy-based group counseling. The collected data from these treatments were analyzed by using Wilcoxson analysis. From the analysis, it was known that the experiential learning strategy-based group counseling was effective to improve self-efficacy (z = -2.366, p = < 0.05). These findings prove that experiential learning strategy-based group counseling is effective to improve students’ self-efficacy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of group counseling with rational emotive behavior therapy approach to increase self-esteem and reducing online gaming addiction. This study design using non-equivalent control group pre-test – post-test design. Purposive sampling technique is used to select 14 students as research subjects. Each 7 students are placed in the experimental group and a control group so that the two groups had the same initial conditions. MANOVA test results showed that group counseling rational emotive behavior therapy approach is effective in improving self-esteem (F3.10= 24.237; p < 0.01) and reducing online gaming addiction (F3.10=29.756; p < 0.01). Furthermore, the Wilcoxon test results showed that the experimental group an increase in self-esteem (z = -2.371; p < 0.05), and a decrease in online gaming addiction (z = -2.375; P <0.05) were significant. While the control group an increase in self-esteem (z =-.175; p > 0.05) and a decrease in online gaming addiction (z = -1.342; p > 0.05) did not occur significantly. The findings of this study confirms that counseling group with rational emotive behavior therapy approach is effective in improving self-esteem and lower addicted to online games.

Abstract

The learning model used by teachers in the classroom based on the result of the researcher's initial observation is still conventional, the student's inquiring ability is low, the students' scientific attitude is not maximal and the student's motivation is low. Teachers need to use innovative learning models that are suitable and are PAIKEM. The purpose of this study is to know and analyze the ability to ask, scientific attitude, and motivation of students before and after following the model of learning CTL. The research method is quasi experimental quantitative with one group pretest and posttest design technique. Techniques and instruments of data collection is an observation technique with questioning ability observation instrument and psychometric scale measurement of scientific attitude and psychology scale of student motivation. Data analysis technique using non parametric statistical test. The results showed that the ability to ask students before and after follow the model of learning CTL is not experiencing a significant positive difference whereas scientific attitude and student motivation experienced a significant positive difference. This is reinforced by the results of hypothesis test 1 that is not accepted because the value of α = 0, 066 above the value of α = 5%. In addition, the results of hypothesis 2 and 3 are α values below α = 5%.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to analyze the model of Problem Based Learning based on ethnomatematics of cultural buildings in Semarang improving understanding of geometrical concepts of the fourth grade students’ of SD Negeri Candi 01 Semarang. The type of research was quantitative with true-experimental design by using pretest-posttest control design models. The subjects’ were 60 students of the fourth grade of elementary school that were divided proportially into a control group and an experimental group. The data collection technique used was essay test. The effectiveness was indicated from classical completeness with minimum completeness criteria (KKM), difference of average understanding of experimental and control class, improvement of understanding of geometry concept of experimental class. The results showed that (1) the understanding of the concept of geometry by using Problem Based Learning contained ethnomatematics of cultural building in Semarang has reached the classical completeness of 75%; (2) the average understanding about geometry concept of the experimental class with the learning model of Problem Based Learning contained ethnomatematics of cultural buildings in Semarang is better than the average understanding of the concept of geometry with the learning of Problem Based learning in the control group; (3) there is a difference in the understanding of the concept of geometry before and after the learning through Problem Based Learning contained ethnomatematics of cultural buildings in Semarang. In conclusion, the use of the Problem Based Learning contained ethnomatematics of cultural buildings in Semarang is effective in improving students' understanding of geometrical concept.
