Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengevaluasi dampak penambahan sukrosa (SUK) pada pengencer tris-kuning telur (TKT) terhadap kualitas semen cair dari babi landrace. Penelitian ini menggunakan semen segar dari seekor babi landrace dengan motilitas spermatozoa sebesar 84,00%, viabilitas 93,00%, abnormalitas spermatozoa 3,00%, dan konsentrasi spermatozoa 312x10^6/mL. Lima perlakuan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah: P0=T-KT (kontrol), P1=T-KT + SUK 0,1%, P2=T-KT + SUK 0,2%, P3=T-KT + SUK 0,3%, P4=T-KT + SUK 0,4%, dan P5=T-KT + SUK 0,5%, dengan masing-masing perlakuan diuji sebanyak lima kali. Penelitian ini menerapkan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) dan hasilnya dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam (ANOVA) serta uji jarak berganda Duncan. Variabel yang diukur meliputi motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup (DTH) spermatozoa. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P5 memberikan pengaruh signifikan (P<0,05) terhadap kualitas spermatozoa, dengan motilitas sebesar 50,00±0,00%, viabilitas 55,80±3,10%, dan daya tahan hidup (DTH) 70,80±1,00 jam. Kesimpulannya, penambahan sukrosa 0,5% ke dalam tris-kuning telur dapat mempertahankan kualitas spermatozoa babi landrace hingga 60 jam.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of Ambon green banana extract (SBPAL) in citrate-egg yolk extender (SKT) to preserve Duroc boar semen at a storage temperature of 18-20°C. The study material consisted of healthy Duroc boar semen aged 2 years, accustomed to semen collection. The experiment used a completely randomized design (CRD) with six treatments and five replications: P0 = 100% SKT, P1 = 100% SKT + 10% SBPAL, P2 = 100% SKT + 15% SBPAL, P3 = 100% SKT + 20% SBPAL, P4 = 100% SKT + 25% SBPAL, P5 = 100% SKT + 30% SBPAL. The variables measured included motility, viability, abnormalities, and spermatozoa longevity (LTH). The results showed that the P4 treatment produced the highest spermatozoa quality statistically (P<0.05) compared to the other treatments, with motility: 46.00±2.12%, viability: 53.74±2.42%, abnormality: 4.47±0.84%, and spermatozoa LTH: 55.28±2.40 hours. In conclusion, the addition of 25% SBPAL in the SKT extender effectively maintained the quality of Duroc boar spermatozoa for up to 48 hours of storage.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan kuning telur omega-3 dalam pengencer air kelapa muda terhadap kualitas spermatozoa babi Landrace. Bahan yang digunakan adalah semen segar dari seekor babi Landrace jantan dalam kondisi sehat dan telah dilatih dalam penampungan semen. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) yang terdiri dari lima perlakuan dengan empat ulangan, yaitu: P0: 80% Air Kelapa Muda+20% Kuning Telur Ayam Lokal, P1: 95% Air Kelapa Muda +5% Kuning Telur omega-3, P2: 90% Air Kelapa Muda +10% Kuning Telur omega-3, P3: 85% Air Kelapa Muda +15% Kuning Telur omega-3 dan P4: 80% Air Kelapa Muda +20% Kuning Telur omega-3. Semen yang sudah diencerkan, disimpan dalam cool box dengan suhu 18–20°C dan dievaluasi setiap 8 jam. Variabel penelitian yang diamati adalah: motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analysis of variance dan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sampai jam pengamatan ke-32 kualitas spermatozoa terbaik adalah pada perlakuan P3 dengan motilitas (46,25±2,50%), viabilitas (54,25±2,43%), abnormalitas (5,18±0,87%), daya tahan hidup (36,43±0,60%) dan perlakuan P4 dengan motilitas (41,25±2,50%), viabilitas (53,04±4,67%), abnormalitas (5,04±0,92%), daya tahan hidup (33,11±2,22%). Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan Kuning Telur Omega-3 sebanyak 15–20% dalam pengencer Air Kelapa Muda mampu menjaga kualitas spermatozoa babi Landrace terutama motilitas dan viabilitas namun tidak dengan abnormalitas dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa. Kata kunci: Air kelapa muda, Babi landrace, Kuning telur omega-3, Spermatozoa.

Abstract

Ponain Village is located in Amarasi District, Kupang Regency, where most of the residents work as free-range chicken farmers and general farmers. However, agricultural by-products such as rotten tomatoes and chilies have not been optimally utilized. These by-products can serve as a medium for cultivating Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots (Hermetia illucens). This community service program was conducted using the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method, which involves active participation from specific groups. The process consisted of three stages: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The implementation phase included socialization and training on BSF maggot cultivation. The evaluation was carried out through pre-tests and post-tests. A total of 30 participants attended the program, including members of Karang Taruna (youth organization), church youth, and farmers from Ponain Village. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge about BSF maggots, rising from 13.33% to 96.67%. Additionally, awareness of the potential use of agricultural by-products for BSF maggot cultivation increased from 26.67% to 83.33%. In conclusion, this community service activity successfully enabled Karang Taruna, church youth, and farmers in Ponain Village to utilize agricultural by-products for BSF maggot cultivation. Moreover, it significantly improved participants' knowledge of optimizing these resources for sustainable farming practices.Desa Ponain merupakan desa yang terletak di Kecamatan Amarasi, Kabupaten Kupang yang mana sebagian besar masyarakatnya berprofesi sebagai petani sayuran dan peternak ayam kampung.  Hasil sampingan dari pertanian adalah limbah tomat dan cabai yang tidak layak dijual dan masih belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Limbah sayuran tersebut dapat dimanfaatkan sebagai media untuk budidaya maggot Black Soldier Fly (BSF) (Hermetia illucens). Metode pendekatan pada kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini menggunakan pendekatan Participatory Action Research (PAR). PAR merupakan metode yang dilakukan dengan melibatkan partisipasi kelompok tertentu, dengan tiga tahapan yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan dan evaluasi. Kegiatan pelaksanaan meliputi penyuluhan dan pelatihan budidaya maggot BSF. Evaluasi yang digunakan yaitu pre-test dan post-test. Kegiatan ini dihadiri sebanyak 30 peserta yang terdiri dari Karang Taruna, Pemuda-Pemudi Gereja dan Petani Desa Ponain. Hasil dari pengabdian ini yaitu adanya peningkatan pengetahuan mengenai maggot BSF dari 13,33% menjadi 96,67%, serta adanya peningkatan pengetahuan peserta mengenai bahwa limbah pertanian dapat digunakan sebagai budidaya maggot BSF dari 26,67% menjadi 83,33%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa Karang Taruna, Pemuda-Pemudi Gereja dan Petani Desa Ponain mampu memanfaatkan limbah pertanian untuk budidaya maggot BSF, serta meningkatnya pengetahuan peserta dalam memanfaatkan limbah pertanian untuk budidaya maggot secara maksimal.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of adding papaya leaf juice added to egg yolk citrate diluting medium (S-KT) to assess its effect on the quality of boar sperm from crosses between landrace and duroc breeds. Fresh semen from boar aged 1.5 who were in good health and had received training in semen collection methods was used in the study. Six treatments and five repetitions were employed in an experimental setting as part of a completely random research design, namely: egg yolk citrate without papaya leaf juice (P0), egg yolk citrate + 0.5% papaya leaf juice (P1), egg yolk citrate + 1% papaya leaf juice (P2), egg yolk citrate + 1.5% papaya leaf juice (P3), egg yolk citrate + 2% papaya leaf juice (P4),  egg yolk citrate + 2.5% papaya leaf juice. All treatments are stored in a coolbox with a temperature of 15-20ºC. Every twelve hours, the spermatozoa's mobility, survival, form, and ability to migrate were assessed. With a motility of 53.00±2.73%, viability of 67.70±1.4%, abnormality of 6.00±0.70%, and survival of 54.60 hours (P<0.05), the P5 treatment with the addition of papaya leaf juice up to 2.5% produced the best outcomes at 48 hours of storage. In comparison to previous treatments, it can be said that adding 2.5% papaya leaf juice to the S-KT dilution medium improved the quality of the liquid semen produced by Landrace and Duroc cross boar

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan pengencer sitrat-kuning telur (S-KT) dengan konsentrasi level gliserol yang berbeda terhadap kualitas spermatozoa beku babi landrace. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan empat perlakuan gliserol yaitu: P1 (4%), P2 (6%), P3 (8%) dan P4 (10%) dan empat ulangan. Spermatozoa yang digunakan berupa spermatozoa segar dari 4 ekor pejantan babi landrace berusia 2–3 tahun dikoleksi menggunakan metode glove gland. Evaluasi kualitas spermatozoa dilakukan secara makroskopis dan mikroskopis. Spermatozoa diencerkan menggunakan pengencer dasar, lalu dilakukan proses holding time. Spermatozoa kemudian diproses melalui sentrifugasi. Setelah itu, bagian supernatan dibuang, dan pellet yang tersisa diencerkan kembali. Selanjutnya dihomogenkan dan dibagikan pada empat tabung perlakuan. Kemudian spermatozoa dievaluasi untuk mengetahui motilitas, viabilitas, dan abnormalitas. Spermatozoa kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam straw berukuran 0,5 mL dan diekuilibrasi. Kemudian, straw dibekukan, lalu disimpan dan dilakukan pengujian. Hasil penelitian mengungkapkan bahwa motilitas spermatozoa setelah proses thawing tertinggi ditemukan pada perlakuan P3 nilai motilitas P3= 31,50±10,03%, diikuti P2= 25,88±8,85%, P4= 20,94±8,38% dan P1= 19,42±2,83% dan berpengaruh tidak nyata (P>0,05) pada semua perlakuan. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan pengencer sitrat kuning telur (S-KT) dengan konsentrasi gliserol yang berbeda mampu menghasilkan motilitas pasca thawing tertinggi yaitu pada P3 dengan nilai 31,50±10,03% yang layak digunakan untuk inseminasi buatan sesuai standar SNI spermatozoa beku babi.

Abstract

Oelomin Village is one of the areas facing stunting problems. This condition requires serious attention, considering the long-term impacts that can be caused on the growth and development of children. The purpose of this activity was to provide knowledge about the education of the egg-eating movement to prevent stunting in toddlers and pregnant women, as well as the utilization of yards as a green fodder source for daily nutritional needs. The implementation method includes the preparation stage, implementation (counseling and practice), and evaluation which was attended by 20 members of the Sejahtera social assistance group at the Oelomin Village Office. The evaluation of the activity was carried out by filling out a questionnaire before and after the activity. The activity results showed an increase in participant knowledge of 63.23% regarding the education of the egg-eating movement, making compost from kitchen waste and organic waste, and developing a living kitchen. It can be concluded that the activity had been carried out well. However, there needs to be support and participation from partners and ongoing active assistance regarding stunting awareness, so that it can reduce the problem of stunting and improve the quality of life in Oelomin Village

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh penambahan air tebu ke dalam pengencer tris kuning telur terhadap kualitas spermatozoa pada babi persilangan Landrace dan Duroc. Materi yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah semen segar dari babi persilangan Landrace dan Duroc berusia 1,5 tahun, yang dalam kondisi sehat dan terlatih dalam penampungan semen. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan rancangan acak lengkap yang terdiri dari 6 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, yaitu: P0 = Tris kuning telur + 0% air tebu, P1 = Tris kuning telur + 5% air tebu, P2 = Tris kuning telur + 10% air tebu, P3 = Tris kuning telur + 15% air tebu, P4 = Tris kuning telur + 20% air tebu, dan P5 = Tris kuning telur + 25% air tebu. Variabel yang diamati meliputi motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa. Semen yang telah diencerkan disimpan dalam coolbox pada suhu 18-20?. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan P4 dengan penambahan 20% air tebu menghasilkan motilitas sebesar 57,00±2,74%, viabilitas 67,80±4,97%, abnormalitas 5,50±0,79%, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa mencapai 68,52 jam. Kesimpulannya, penambahan 20% air tebu dalam pengencer tris kuning telur memberikan pengaruh positif terhadap motilitas, viabilitas, abnormalitas, dan daya tahan hidup spermatozoa hingga 68,52 jam.

Abstract

The management of organic waste from the livestock sector is a significant challenge in achieving sustainable agricultural practices. The problem of poorly managed livestock waste can cause environmental pollution and contribute to greenhouse gas emissions. Therefore, the Community Service (PkM) activity was carried out at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Marine and Fisheries, Nusa Cendana University, aiming to improve the understanding and skills of alumni and final year students of the Animal Husbandry Study Program in processing waste into quality bokashi fertiliser. This activity took place from 17 April to 14 May 2024, involving 23 participants, including lecturers and partners. The methods applied included distribution of extension materials, socialisation, bokashi processing training, as well as financial management and digital marketing training. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in partners' understanding of various aspects. The biggest improvement was recorded in the aspect of simple bookkeeping, with 65% of respondents feeling more able to record transactions systematically using spreadsheet software. In addition, understanding of bokashi fertiliser processing technology increased by 35%, packaging by 38%, and digital marketing by 50%. Overall, this activity succeeded in increasing the skills (soft skills and hard skills) of partners by 40%

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) aims to to improve the knowledge and skills of the Ponain Village community, Amarasi District, Kupang Regency, in the cultivation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggot and agricultural waste management. (BSF) maggot cultivation and agricultural waste management. Through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations, this activity involved 25 members of Karang Taruna as participants. The evaluation results showed significant improvements in various aspects: understanding of the material increased from 60% to 80%, practical skills from 50% to 90%, and understanding of product marketing from 40% to 80%. The level of participation rate reached 100%, and there was a strong commitment to continue maggot cultivation and waste management. continue maggot cultivation and waste management. These results show that PKM is effective in empowering communities, increasing productivity, and opening new economic opportunities. Recommendations for future activities include further counselling and more intensive mentoring to ensure the sustainability of the programme.
