Abstract

To foster character education in Indonesia, research on the role of social capital has become an urgent issue because character crisis is one of the growing concerns and recent stunning news stakes. National identity crises have shown anti-cultural behavior, anti-character, and less use of domestic social capital blatantly. This research aims to describe the role of social capital that determines the implementation of character education through Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s perspectives. This qualitative research was designed as a case study using purposive sampling with individual resources such as headmaster, teacher, student representatives, school committee, parents, foundation management, and school supervisor. This research was conducted at Tamansiswa Primary School, Yogyakarta, Indonesia, from November 2017 to January 2018. The research result shows that the social capital role determines the implementation of character education, and in Ki Hadjar Dewantara’s perspective, character education has been applied in all learning processes. Both intra-curricular and extracurricular activities support the school culture, and the family system is an integral part of habituation and exemplary character inculcation at school, family, and societal levels through mutual love, respect, assistance, and help. The obliged elements of social capital in embodying character education are trust, norm, and network.

Abstract

Literacy skills as well as the character of discipline and independence are important for student learning success. This study aims to describe the implementation of GLS in fostering discipline and independence in grade 3 elementary schools. This research method uses a qualitative approach. The subjects of the study were 29 3rd grade elementary school students in Purworejo, Central Java. The data collection techniques used are observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. This study uses triangulation of sources and methods to support the validity of the data. The data analysis technique used in this study is an interactive model from Miles, Huberman, & Saldana which consists of three main stages, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn/data verification. The results of the study show that the implementation of GLS in elementary schools can create various forms of literacy activities, namely creating reading corners, writing reflections on literacy activity books, activating school wall magazines, creating and appreciating poems and rhymes as well as writing book reviews or synopsis, and reading reading books for 15 minutes at the 0th hour. The implementation of GLS can foster the character of discipline and independence in students. For discipline character, 84% of students in the category are excellent on the indicator of completing tasks on time, 72% on the indicator of complying with existing regulations, and 92% on the indicator of good behavior. For independent character, 72% of students in the category are very good on the initiative indicator, 82% on the confidence indicator, and 88% on the responsibility indicator. In conclusion, the implementation of GLS in elementary schools can foster the character of discipline and independence in students.

Abstract

This research aims to explain the internalization of Tri-N Tamansiswa Teaching of Primary School Teacher Education Department (PGSD) at Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University. The subjects of this research are the Study Program Chairman, lecturers and college students. As for the research object was the internalization of the Tri-N teaching of Tamansiswa. The data collection was done by observation method, interview and documentation. The research results of shows that the role of the Study Program Chairman is crucial to the internalization of the Tri-N Tamansiswa teaching in strengthening students pedagogical competence. It is because the Study Program Chairman has the authority to make policy in the internalization of Tamansiswa teaching. A pattern or model of the internalization of Tri-N Tamansiswa Teaching is known that derives from the preparation of the vision and the mission continued with the establishment of the study program policy related to the implementation of Tamansiswa teaching and integration of Tamansiswa teaching especially Tri-N in the curriculum, Semester Lesson Plan, and the learning process. In addition, the Tri-N Tamansiswa teaching has also been applied by the lecturer in classroom teaching and learning so it accustoms college students to be teacher candidate who based on Tamansiswa teaching.

Abstract

Taman Aksara has become an important strategy in introducing and preserving Indonesia's cultural heritage, namely Aksara Jawa. In the Special Region of Yogyakarta, the learning of Aksara Jawa in schools, especially through local content lessons, is still well-maintained as an effort to preserve the existence of Aksara Jawa among the Alpha generation. This community service aims to explore the teaching of Aksara Jawa using traditional games based on Tamansiswa teachings as an alternative method to introduce Aksara Jawa to children in the LUKU Community in Sarekan, Canden, Bantul Regency. The implementation of this community service involves active participation from the partners. The service activity was carried out in the LUKU Children's Community with 25 children aged between 3 and 12 years. The results of this community service show that through the traditional game of engklek, the participants were able to more easily internalize cultural values, strengthen their love for local culture, and at the same time learn Aksara Jawa in a contextual, creative, interactive, practical, and enjoyable way.

Abstract

Cooperative learning stands as a widely embraced and innovative pedagogical method adopted by educators globally. A multitude of scholars have extensively explored its effectiveness in augmenting students' learning outcomes. This research aims to scrutinize the efficacy of implementing cooperative learning methods specifically in Indonesian language classes at the elementary school level. Employing a meta-analysis approach, 18 selected research-based articles pertaining to the teaching of the Indonesian language in elementary schools were systematically analyzed. These articles were sourced from reputable academic databases such as Google Scholar and Sinta. The results highlight the impact of cooperative learning methods on elementary school students' learning experiences, showcasing their effectiveness in positively influencing academic achievements within the domain of the Indonesian language subject. These findings affirm the practicality and applicability of integrating cooperative learning methods into the pedagogical framework for teaching the Indonesian language at the elementary school level in academic settings.

Abstract

This research is a quantitative study using the Spearman Rank correlation test to evaluate the non-parametric relationship between evaluation anxiety and self-efficacy of class 4 A students at SD Negeri 1 Kadipiro Bantul. The collection technique in this research used interviews, documentation, and distribution of questionnaires. Data analysis techniques use descriptive analysis, normality test, linearity test, and hypothesis test. The research results showed that the average score for evaluation anxiety was 54.48 or in the medium category, and the results of self-efficacy showed an average score of 31.72, which was in the medium category. The results of the Spearman Rank correlation analysis test show a correlation value of -0.388, so it can be concluded that there is a negative relationship between the variable evaluation anxiety and self-efficacy, which means that the higher the level of anxiety facing evaluation, the lower the level of student self-efficacy, and vice versa.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) Identify the types of bullying that occur within the environment of SD N 1 Kayumas Klaten; and (2) Describe students’ understanding of the concept of bullying in the school setting. This research employs a qualitative approach using a case study method, focusing on an in-depth exploration of the bullying phenomenon within the context of education. This approach aligns with the research objective, which is not to test a specific hypothesis, but to obtain a comprehensive and realistic picture of students’ conceptual understanding of bullying, its impacts, and the strategies for its prevention. The case study method provides a detailed and holistic explanation of various aspects related to individuals, groups, programs, or social situations. The findings of this research indicate: (1) Bullying at SD N 1 Kayumas primarily manifests in the form of verbal bullying, often carried out spontaneously by students due to peer social influence, and frequently misunderstood as mere teasing or joking; and (2) The dominant form of bullying found at SD N 1 Kayumas Klaten is physical appearance-related ridicule, which leads to psychological distress among students.

Abstract

The LUKU community is a group of children located in Sarekan Hamlet RT 05, Plembutan, Canden, Jetis, Bantul. Luku itself stands for Put All and Read a 15-minute Book. The children collected in this community are in the age range from early childhood to junior high school. LUKU was formed on the basis of reasons during the COVID-19 pandemic and the home learning policy made children often focused on gadgets and lacked developmental stimulation according to their stage of development. Even though it is the age of these children that the stimulation of creativity is needed. The needs analysis in the LUKU community is that there is a need for developmental stimulation that hones creativity and is also connected to technology (because these children generally have gadgets, but have not been developed optimally according to children's creativity). Therefore, a service program was carried out to stimulate the creativity of the children of the Luku Community through traditional augmented reality-based games. Some of the stages that have been running include socialization, self-learning, and mentoring. The children and parents of the luku community participated in this activity very enthusiastically and always actively participated. Keywords: Creative Incubator, Traditional Games, Augmented Reality

Abstract

Literacy is often defined as the ability to read and write, so the actual concept needs to be applied. There are several efforts to develop literacy skills. The aim of this service is to increase the capacity for literacy skills in the LUKU children's community through implementing the among system using 3 principles, namely momong, among and ngemong. The method for implementing this service activity is through direct partner involvement and is implemented through 3 principles in the among system. Service activities were carried out at the LUKU Children's Community with 25 children and were attended by a variety of ages starting from 3 years old to junior high school level. The results of the implementation of this service activity provide an illustration that through the implementation of the among system, indicators of success in achieving children's literacy skills can emerge.
