Abstract

The aim of this study is to explore vocabulary teaching techniques applied by EFL teachers in primary schools in Depok, Indonesia. Using a qualitative case study approach, the study involved observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis as primary data collection methods. Three EFL female teachers from three primary schools in Depok participated in this research. The findings reveal that repetition drills and translation are the most commonly used strategies due to their effectiveness in vocabulary retention and comprehension. Visual aids and interactive activities like games also play a significant role, though their use is often limited by resource constraints, and large class sizes. The research suggests that combining traditional methods with innovative approaches can improve vocabulary teaching, but further support in terms of resources and professional development is necessary for teachers to maximize their effectiveness. The study recommends future research focusing on digital tools and technology-based interventions, assessing the impact of teacher training programs, and comparing urban and rural contexts. Additionally, exploring the long-term effects of these techniques on students’ language proficiency would provide valuable insights for enhancing English education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Pelatihan inovasi media pembelajaran berbasis kecerdasan buatan (AI) bagi dosen telah menjadi fokus utama dalam meningkatkan mutu pendidikan ting yang modern. Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi dampak pelatihan tersebut terhadap kualitas pembelajaran di perguruan tinggi. Dengan menggunakan metode pelatihan yang dirancang khusus, dosen dilatih untuk mengintegrasikan teknologi AI dalam strategi pembelajaran mereka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini efektif dalam memperkaya pengalaman pembelajaran, mendorong keterlibatan mahasiswa, serta memperkuat adaptasi perguruan tinggi terhadap perkembangan teknologi. Implikasi penelitian ini menyoroti pentingnya pengembangan kompetensi dosen dalam menghadapi tantangan pendidikan tinggi yang modern dan teknologi-canggih, serta menawarkan pandangan yang mendalam terkait transformasi pendidikan menuju lingkungan pembelajaran yang lebih adaptif dan responsif.

Abstract

Abstract: The fact is that 38% of students are satisfied and 50% are less satisfied with Indonesian language competency. Another fact, out of 30,564 there are 82.59% categories of sufficient, weak, and very weak language knowledge. Urgency is researched because there is a gap between theory, expectations, and reality. So, the aim is to determine the relationship between knowledge competency and understanding of Indonesian language learning personally, professionally, and socially. Quantitative research method with surveys. Sample of 180 people out of 360. Data collection techniques using instruments assisted by Google. Likert Scale Instrument 1-5. 25.0 Statistical analysis techniques, standard deviation, and mean. The mean level of knowledge and understanding of subject content among lecturers is very high. A relationship was found between the three domains of knowledge, understanding, and personal competence. Abstract

Abstract: Impropmtu Speech Delivery Among EFL Graduate Students: Challenges and Potential Strategies. Objectives: This study explores the challenges confronted by EFL (English as a Foreign Language) graduate students in delivering impromptu speeches, especially in formal settings. Method: The research included twelve graduate students in their first semester of the 2013/2014 academic year, majoring in English Education at a private university in Jakarta. It employed a mixed-methods approach and was descriptive in nature. Data collection tools consisted of questionnaires, interviews, reflective journals, and observations. Quantitative data were obtained from questionnaires, while qualitative data came from interviews, observations, and reflective journals completed by the students as an assignment. Findings: The study identified high anxiety and difficulties in organizing and articulating thoughts spontaneously as the primary challenges. It also noted that sufficient practice and the teacher support were effective in reducing students' anxiety and improving their speaking abilities. Conclusion The research revealed that anxiety, stemming from insufficient preparation due to time constrain and unfamiliar topics, adversely affected the speech quality. In response, the teacher focused on enhancing emotional awareness and minimizing anxiety levels. Abstract

Pelatihan critical reading ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca kritis mahasiswa psikologi, khususnya dalam memahami teks akademik dan literatur psikologi. Sebanyak 25 mahasiswa mengikuti pelatihan yang meliputi ceramah pengantar, strategi membaca kritis, praktik membaca individu, dan presentasi kritis. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui Focus Group Discussion sebelum dan setelah pelatihan. Hasilnya menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman mahasiswa tentang konsep critical reading, manfaatnya dalam konteks akademik, serta strategi-strategi yang dapat diterapkan dalam membaca teks. Mahasiswa mengakui bahwa critical reading tidaklah mudah dan memerlukan latihan berkelanjutan, terutama dalam menghadapi teks berbahasa Inggris. Pelatihan ini berhasil membekali mahasiswa dengan keterampilan dasar critical reading yang sangat berguna dalam studi psikologi mereka, namun tantangan tetap ada dalam penerapannya, terutama terkait dengan kosakata teknis. Diperlukan latihan terus-menerus untuk meningkatkan keterampilan ini di masa depan. Pelatihan ini juga meningkatkan kesadaran mahasiswa tentang pentingnya mengevaluasi sumber informasi secara kritis, yang sangat relevan dalam era informasi yang serba cepat. Meskipun mahasiswa merasa lebih siap, tantangan terbesar tetap pada pemahaman bahasa Inggris akademik, yang membutuhkan penguasaan kosa kata yang lebih mendalam. Sebagai rekomendasi, program pelatihan lanjutan yang lebih fokus pada peningkatan kosakata teknis dan latihan membaca dapat lebih memperkuat kemampuan critical reading mereka di masa depan.

Abstract

Self-regulated learning (SRL) is an essential skill for university students, empowering them to manage their academic endeavors through goal-setting, self-monitoring, and reflection. This study explores the implementation of SRL strategies to promote learner autonomy, focusing on the interplay of technology, culture, and education. Using qualitative methods, the research analyzed data from interviews, observations, and document analysis involving students and educators. Findings reveal that while students excel in goal-setting (75%), engagement in monitoring (60%) and reflection (25%) remains limited, inhibiting the full SRL cycle. Challenges such as unfamiliarity with SRL (60%), poor time management (50%), and inadequate feedback (40%) further hinder adoption. Educators emphasize SRL in feedback and goal-setting (80%) but struggle with embedding it comprehensively in curricula (50%). The study highlights technology's potential to scaffold SRL through tools that enhance feedback, progress tracking, and personalized learning. To foster learner autonomy, the research recommends structured training for students, professional development for educators, and curriculum realignment to address cultural and systemic barriers. These insights aim to advance inclusive, learner-centered environments in higher education

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis kesalahan tata bahasa dalam teks naratif yang ditulis oleh siswa kelas sepuluh. Sebanyak 28 siswa dari jurusan IPA di sebuah sekolah menengah atas dipilih sebagai partisipan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain campuran, memadukan pendekatan kuantitatif dan kualitatif, serta menganalisis kesalahan berdasarkan taksonomi strategi permukaan Dulay et al. (1982). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kesalahan pembentukan merupakan jenis kesalahan yang paling sering terjadi (43,59%), diikuti oleh kesalahan penghilangan (38,97%). Sebagian besar kesalahan tersebut berasal dari faktor perkembangan, yang mencakup 74,36% dari keseluruhan kesalahan. Temuan ini mengindikasikan bahwa siswa memerlukan peningkatan dalam internalisasi aturan tata bahasa. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini merekomendasikan penggunaan strategi pengajaran yang lebih terarah pada jenis kesalahan yang sering muncul untuk meningkatkan kompetensi tata bahasa siswa dalam penulisan naratif. Penelitian ini juga menekankan pentingnya pengintegrasian pengajaran tata bahasa secara komprehensif dalam kurikulum untuk mengurangi kesalahan berulang dan mendukung akuisisi bahasa yang lebih baik.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengeksplorasi tentang optimalisasi peran guru pembelajar di SMA melalui program kemitraan dengan industri lokal. Dalam konteks pendidikan saat ini, peran guru tidak lagi terbatas pada penyampaian materi, tetapi juga mencakup pemberdayaan siswa untuk menjadi pembelajar mandiri yang siap menghadapi tuntutan dunia kerja. Melalui kemitraan dengan industri lokal, guru dapat memperluas wawasan siswa tentang aplikasi praktis dari pengetahuan yang mereka pelajari di kelas. Literatur mendukung pentingnya kolaborasi antara sekolah dan industri dalam meningkatkan relevansi kurikulum dengan kebutuhan pasar kerja. Program kemitraan ini dapat memfasilitasi transfer pengetahuan antara sekolah dan industri, membuka peluang bagi siswa untuk magang atau kerja praktek, serta memperkuat keterampilan yang dibutuhkan di dunia kerja. Kegiatan seperti kunjungan ke tempat kerja, seminar oleh praktisi industri, dan proyek kolaboratif antara sekolah dan perusahaan dapat meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa dan mempersiapkan mereka untuk karir masa depan. Dengan demikian, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi dampak positif program kemitraan antara sekolah dan industri lokal terhadap peran guru pembelajar di SMA.

Abstract

Critical thinking skills are an important aspect of education which enables students to analyze information critically and objectively. This journal article reviews the role of critical literacy in developing critical thinking skills in high school students through an interdisciplinary approach. Through the literature review method, this article explores the concepts of critical literacy and critical thinking skills and their relationship in the context of high school education. Critical literacy allows students to develop a deeper understanding of the information they encounter, while critical thinking skills enable them to critically evaluate that information and build strong arguments. The interdisciplinary approach highlights the importance of integrating diverse subjects in developing students' critical thinking skills. In this context, this article highlights the implications and challenges of integrating critical literacy in the school curriculum. It is hoped that this article can provide valuable insights for educators and policy makers in improving critical learning at the high school level.
