Abstract

One aspect of language skills in elementary school is reading ability. Reading ability is needed to understand information or reading content, this is called reading comprehension ability. Classroom action research was carried out to overcome the lack of reading comprehension skills experienced by class VI students. A lack of reading comprehension skills can be seen in students who are confused in understanding the reading text. The researcher used the classroom action research method by applying the Game-Based Learning method assisted by Wordwall media in improving the reading comprehension skills of class VI students. The subjects studied by the researchers were class VI students at SDN 2 Batutumpang with a total of 40 people. The instruments used were activity observation sheets and reading comprehension tests. The results of the research show an increase in activity observations and reading comprehension ability tests in cycle 1 to cycle 2. The results of students' reading comprehension ability in cycle 1 were 30% then increased in cycle 2 by 90%. It can be concluded that the application of the Game-Based Learning method assisted by Wordwall media can improve the reading comprehension ability of class VI students.   Keywords: game based learning, wordwall media, reading comprehension

Abstract

This research is backgrounded by the leak of second grade students of an elementary school to beginning reading skills. This research has a purpose to find out the effect of the Structural Analytic Synthetic (SAS) method assisted with powerpoint media to students beginning reading skills on second grade students of an elementary school in Purwakarta Regency. The research used was pre-experiment research with one-group pretest-posttest design. Data collection techniques in this research used tests (pretest and posttest) and non-tests (observation). The sample of this research was 23 students on second grade class of an elementary school in Purwakarta Regency. Descriptive statistical data analysis was carried out on pretest and posttest total score data. After treatment, it was found that there was an increase in the average score, the increase in the average score was large enough, from 72.39 to 82.17. Furthermore, a t-test (paired samples test) was carried out on the total pretest and posttest scores. It can be seen that there is an effect of implementing Structural Analytic Synthetic (SAS) method assisted with powerpoint media to students beginning reading skills as seen from the significant value of <0.001 which is less than 0.05, then there is an effect of iplementing structural analytic synthetic (SAS) method assisted with powerpoint media to students beginning reading skills. Therefore, it can be concluded that the structural analytic synthetic (SAS) method assisted with powerpoint media there is an effect to students beginning reading skills.   Keywords: beginning reading skills, powerpoint media, Structural Analytic Synthetic (SAS) method

Abstract

This research has several objectives, namely: 1) to determine the improvement in narrative text listening skills of students who receive learning using the SAVI model assisted by media literacy cloud and students who receive learning using the problem based learning model; 2) determine the effect of implementing the SAVI learning model assisted by media literacy cloud on students' narrative text listening skills. The method used is an experiment with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a nonequivalent control group. The research sample was students in class III A and class III B in one of the elementary schools in Subang Regency with a total of 20 students in each class. Data before and after learning was obtained through student listening skills test instruments. The research obtained results that the SAVI model assisted by media literacy cloud improved students' narrative text listening skills as evidenced by the results of the n-gain test which obtained an average of 0.5898 in the medium category. The influence of the SAVI model assisted by media literacy cloud on narrative text listening skills is shown by the results of the t test which gets a significance value of <0.05, so H0 is accepted so that a significant difference is obtained.

Abstract

The aim of this research is of course to find out how much influence the make a match type cooperative model assisted by digital literacy cloud book media has on students' ability to read and understand narrative texts. Researchers used a quasi-experimental type of research with a nonequivalent control group design. The subjects in this research were 22 class IVA students and 22 class IVB students. The instrument used in this research was a test of the ability to read and understand narrative text. The results obtained from the influence of the make a match type cooperative model assisted by digital literacy cloud book media on students' ability to read and understand narrative text were 34.1%. So it can be concluded that students who received the make a match type cooperative learning model assisted by digital literacy cloud book media were better than students who received the think pair and share type cooperative learning model

Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan pada siswa yang mengalami kesulitan membaca permulaan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan siswa membaca permulaan sebelum menggunakan language experience approach berbantuan media bigbook; kemampuan siswa untuk membaca permulaan setelah menggunakan language experience approach berbantuan media bigbook; dan pengaruh language experience approach berbantuan media bigbook terhadap kemampuan siswa dalam membaca permulaan. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas II SD di Purwakarta, dan jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi eksperimen yang tidak   sebanding dengan kelompok kontrol. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design, dengan sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas II SD di Purwakarta. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, dapat disimpulkan: 1) nilai rata-rata pada pretest kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol berkategori rendah, dan tidak tada perbedaan nilai rata-ratanya;2) setelah diterapkan language experience approach berbantuan media gambar berseri, terdapat perbedaan pada hasil posttest kelas eskperimen dan kelas kontrol. Kemudian terdapat peningkatan nilai posttest pada kelas eskperimen. Hal tersebut dilihat dari hasil analisis deskriptif dan analisis inferensial, namun nilai rata-rata masih berkategori rendah; 3) Terdapat pengaruh yang kuat terhadap kemampuan membaca permulaan siswa setelah menerapkan language experience approach berbantuan media bigbook.

Abstract

Teachers' understanding of how to improve students' reading skills and the lack of attention to measuring students' reading results, which causes students to need more information on their reading results. This study analysed the correlation between reading comprehension ability, metacognitive components, and inferential ability using digital big books. This research method uses a factorial analysis design to see the role of metacognitive variables and inferential ability on reading comprehension. This study involved 200 elementary school students from 4 schools. The sample was taken randomly. The data collection method used was a test. In contrast, the data collection instrument for students' metacomprehension skills was measured using the ESCOLA reading awareness scale, commonly used in students aged 10-15. The reading awareness measurement scale consists of 55 multiple-choice questions to assess three dimensions of metacomprehension, namely planning, monitoring, and evaluation. The data analysis used in this study was the Bonferroni analysis. The researcher selects the data obtained from the reading awareness scale, reading comprehension test, and its acquisition before analysis. The results showed that individual reading comprehension ability can predict metacomprehension accuracy. This study implies that teachers can consider these aspects while optimizing the role of these variables to improve students' reading comprehension skills.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of the Write Around learning model assisted by digital image media on students' narrative writing skills in elementary school. This experimental research used a pretest-posttest control group design. The subjects were two classes: the experimental class, which used the Write Around model assisted by digital image media based on Canva, and the control class, which applied the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model. The results show that the Write Around model assisted by digital image media is effective in improving students' narrative writing skills. This is evident from the average score increase from 7.2 in the pretest to 18.3 in the posttest in the experimental class, while the control class only reached 13.6 in the posttest. Statistical tests also showed a significant difference between the experimental and control classes, with the Write Around model having a greater impact on students' writing skills. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the use of an innovative learning model assisted by digital media, specifically Canva-based digital images, can be an effective solution to enhance students' literacy skills, particularly in narrative writing.

Abstract

This study developed a learning model to improve students’ early reading skills in Indonesia. The model is based on social cognitive learning theory and is implemented using interactive multimedia. The research method uses Design-Based Research (DBR) and the subjects are 195 first and second graders of an elementary school in Bandung, West Java. The findings of the study show that social cognitive learning can be integrated and implemented through interactive multimedia and that interactive-multimedia-assisted social cognitive model (IMAS Model) can improve early reading skills. Students’ average early reading skill scores were measured using Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) instrument before and after intervention to see the effectiveness of the model. Pre-test – post-test results comparison showed that students’ average early reading scores increased after learning using IMAS Model. Students’ average scores of reading letters, reading syllables, reading words, reading sentences, and reading comprehension skills at pre-test were 78.06, 67.06, 60.92, 55.21, and 44.95, respectively. These scores respectively increased to 92.71, 92.45, 88.58, 74.60, and 87.08 at post-test, indicating that IMAS Model is effective to increase early reading skills.

Abstract

Minat membaca dalam diri siswa akan muncul apabila siswa tertarik melakukan kegiatan membaca. Membuat siswa tertarik melakukan kegiatan membaca dengan diberikan bacaan yang menarik perhatian mereka seperti cerita pendek. Penelitian ini, bertujuan untuk menge-tahui minat membaca cerita pendek pada siswa kelas IV, faktor yang mempengaruhi minat membaca cerita pendek serta upaya yang dapat dilakukan untuk meningkatkan minat mem-baca cerita pendek. Penelitian ini, menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk meng-gambarkan kondisi minat membaca cerita pendek pada siswa kelas IV di salah satu sekolah dasar di Tambun Selatan. Subjek yang digunakan pada penelitian ini, melibatkan siswa kelas IV yang berjumlah 32 siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan yaitu angket dan wawancara. Setelah dilakukan analisis ditemukan bahwa (1) Minat membaca cerita pendek siswa berada di kategori sedang dengan persentase 66.86%. (2) Faktor internal yang mempengaruhi minat membaca cerita pendek siswa, yaitu kurangnya motivasi dalam diri siswa, dan kondisi kesehatan fisik. Faktor eksternal yang mempengaruhi minat membaca cerita pendek siswa, yaitu peran orang tua dan lingkungan keluarga yang kurang men-dukung, sarana dan prasarana yang kurang memadai dan pengaruh teman sebaya. (3) Upaya yang telah dilakukan oleh sekolah, guru dan orang tua sudah cukup baik dan bisa ditingkat-kan lagi agar minat membaca cerita pendek siswa lebih baik.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The background of this research is the reality in the field which shows the low ability of students' reading comprehension. Students have difficulty finding the intrinsic elements of the story (determining the character, theme, setting, and message) and retelling the story. The purpose of this study was to find out about improving reading comprehension skills with the CIRC type learning model (Coopetaive Integrated Reading and Composition) in class V SD Negeri Wancimekar I Karawang regency. The type of research used was Classroom Action Research (PTK) and the research design used by researchers was the Kemmis & Mc design. The steps include planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. PTK is a way to improve and increase teacher competence in designing a research, because the teacher is the person who knows best about the classroom learning climate in the learning process. From the results of the researchers' findings that the application of the CIRC type learning model in the Indonesian language learning process at SD grade V succeeded in improving student learning activities and outcomes in reading comprehension. This is shown based on research results obtained from the two cycles that have been implemented. Based on the research results in cycle I, the average score was 65.40 with a percentage of student completeness of 32.43% while in cycle II the average score was 85.40 with a percentage of student completeness of 94.60%. Of the two cycles carried out by researchers there was an increase from cycle I to II of 62.17%. Thus it can be concluded that learning Indonesian with the CIRC type learning model (Coopetaive Integrated Reading and Composition) can improve reading comprehension skills in fifth grade students of SD Negeri Wancimekar I for the 2022/2023 academic year. Keyword: Reading Comprehension, CIRC Model, Classroom Action Research ABSTRAK Latar belakang dilakukan penelitian ini adalah adanya kenyataan dilapangan yang menunjukkan rendahnya kemampuan membaca pemahaman siswa. Siswa kesulitan menemukan unsur intrinsik cerita (menentukan tokoh, tema, latar, dan amanat) serta menceritakan kembali cerita. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tentang peningkatan kemampuan membaca pemahaman dengan model pembelajaran tipe CIRC (Coopetaive Integrated Reading and Composition) pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Wancimekar I Kabupaten Karawang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dan desain penelitian yang digunakan peneliti adalah desain Kemmis & Mc. Tanggart yang meliputi perencanaan, pelaksanaan, observasi, dan refleksi. PTK merupakan cara untuk memperbaiki dan meningkatkan kompetensi guru dalam mendesain sebuah penelitian, karena guru merupakan orang yang paling tahu akan iklim pembelajaran kelas pada proses pembelajaran. Dari hasil temuan peneliti bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran tipe CIRC dalam proses pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia di SD kelas V berhasil memberbaiki aktivitas dan hasil belajar siswa dalam membaca pemahaman. Hal ini ditunjukkan berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dari dua siklus yang telah dilaksanakan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pada siklus I, nilai rata-rata yaitu 65,40 dengan persentase ketuntasan siswa sebesar 32,43% sedangkan pada siklus II nilai rata-rata yaitu 85,40 dengan persentase ketuntasan siswa sebesar 94,60%. Dari dua siklus yang dilaksanakan oleh peneliti terdapat peningkatan dari siklus I ke II sebesar 62,17%. Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia dengan model pembelajaran tipe CIRC (Coopetaive Integrated Reading and Composition) dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca pemahaman pada siswa kelas V SD Negeri Wancimekar I tahun ajaran 2022/2023.
