Abstract

The South Pesisir area was one of the areas that was rocked by an earthquake on September 30, 2009. The earthquake that occurred caused damage and loss of life. Based on these conditions, the South Pesisir Regency area was identified as an earthquake-prone area. Therefore, it is necessary to research seismicity and return period in the regency. This research used the statistical likelihood method to determine the accumulated rock stress, seismcity and return period of eartquakes. The data used is earthquake data for the period 1934-2023 with a magnitude ≥4 SR and a depth of ≤300 km. The results of this research provided an overview of the seismicity and return period in the South Pesisir Regency. Seismicity was determined based on rock stress condition (b-value) and on the level seismic activity (a-value). Based on calculations showed that the a-value and b-value for the 20-year and 90-year intervals ranged between 6.16-10.9 and 0.953-2.17, respectively. Earthquakes return periods at intervals of 20 years and 90 years for the magnitude range 4.0-4.4 produced almost the same return period, namely less than one year. Meanwhile, earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.5-6 had recurrence periods ranging from 1 to 63 years.

Abstract

Uterine contractions cause labor pain in the first stage and can be alleviated through non-pharmacological methods like effleurage massage and acupressure. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of effleurage massage and acupressure in reducing labor pain and improving labor efficiency. This analytical experimental study used an RCT design with 30 participants, and data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the ANOVA test. Both interventions significantly reduced labor pain during the first active phase of labor. The intervention group receiving a combination of effleurage massage and acupressure showed a more significant reduction in pain, with mean scores increasing from 2.27 (SD = 0.799) to 2.73 (SD = 0.594) and significant mean differences (3.44; 95% CI: 3.04–3.85 and 3.22; 95% CI: 1.79–2.88), with F-counts of 8.870 and 9.820 (p = 0.03). In the control group receiving acupressure alone, the mean scores decreased from 3.07 (SD = 0.799) to 2.93 (SD = 0.704), with mean differences of 2.33 (95% CI: 1.79–3.77) and 3.20 (95% CI: 2.64–3.76), F-counts of 8.310 and 9.034 (p = 0.02 and p = 0.01, respectively). The combination therapy proved more effective than acupressure alone in mothers giving birth in the first active phase

Abstract

Jorong Ranah bordered Sumani segment and the Sianok segment. Both of these segments had experienced demaging earthquakes that affected Jorong Ranah. The damage caused could be determined by analyzing the subsurface lithology. This study aimed to determine the value of dominant frequency (f0) and amplification factor (A0) as well as the shear wave velocity (Vs) and subsurface lithology. Microtremor research was conducted at 8 measurement points. Microtremor signals were analyzed using the HVSR method to obtain data in the form of f0 and A0 presented in the form of H/V curves. The values were analyzed using Easy HVSR software to obtain a curve of shear wave velocity values against depth. 2D modeling of subsurface lithology was conducted using Rockworks software. The results showed that the f0 value in Jorong Ranah ranged from 1.25 - 14.75 Hz and the A0 value ranged from 3.26 - 6.92. The shear wave velocity (Vs) values ranged from 100 m/s - 1,604 m/s at depths ranging from 0 - 116.67 meters. In the first layer, the dominating subsurface lithologies were silt, hard sandy loam, breccia tuff, red soil, and gracefully sandstone. In the second layer, the dominating subsurface lithologies were silt, hard sandy loam, tuff, and volcanic breccia. In the third layer, the dominating subsurface lithologies were red soil, volcanic breccia, tuff, and tuff breccia. And in the fourth layer, the dominating subsurface lithologies were red soil and tuff breccia. Subsurface lithology affected potential damage, with high shear wave velocity (Vs) indicating stable, dense rocks and lower damage potential, while low Vs values suggested soft rocks that were more prone to deformation and higher damage risk.

Abstract

Purpose: This study explores self-stigma in people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV) who used Puskesmas services in Yogyakarta and its impact on their health service access. Method: Data come from in-depth interviews with three PLHIVs (one male and two female). Results: Self-stigma occurs among the respondents at the first diagnosis as HIV positive. Self-stigma is triggered by wrong judgments about HIV disease from health workers and communities. Self-stigma is based on negative thoughts of feeling different, having exclusivity (different from their environment). Thus, it is easier to feel rejected, showing the worst if they are discriminated against. The first thought when the respondent was diagnosed with positive HIV was, “how do I die? How will I die tomorrow?” "Not expect, why should I?" "My world has been destroyed; I have no hope anymore.” Feeling of vulnerability and helplessness related to death and illness trigger hypersensitive responses, so they tend to withdraw from social relationships. Continuous exposure will result in a reluctance to access health services due to decreased motivation for treatment. Conclusions Self-stigma is a defense mechanism to fight stigma and discrimination. Hypersensitivity protects to anticipate rejection from the surrounding environment. Thus, PLWHA understands disclosure to reveal the status or not to the closest people. However, this condition needs to be regulated so that self-stigma does not develop to interfere with life functions such as social relations, economy, and work. Self-stigma can reduce treatment prognosis and increase comorbidity and mortality due to lack of a support system, decreased treatment motivation. Therefore, Puskesmas should collaborate with families and communities. Puskesmas can create volunteer groups from people with stigmatized diseases as agents of change to build trust between PLWHA, families, and health workers. For suggestion, meetings with patients as well as an activity to support human rights in celebration day to develop equal and acceptance feelings.

Abstract

Nagari Kampung Batu Dalam, Danau Kembar District, experienced a landslide caused by high rainfall and steep topography (slope). However, there needs to be more information regarding the classification of landslide potential levels that will occur. So it is essential to carry out this study to determine the soil type, sediment depth, and seismic vulnerability index. Ten microtremor data are scattered in this area. Measurements are carried out using an MAE Sysmatrack and 3D Seismic Surface Sensor, and this is done because these measurements are not difficult to carry out and do not require a large amount of money. However, there is an abundance of information that can be analyzed. Microtremor signal data were processed using Geopsy software with the Horizontal to Vertical Spatial Ratio (HVSR) method and soil profiles which stated the parameters of the shear wave velocity (Vs) and the depth of the sediment layer (H) using the ellipticity curve method. The results obtained show that the f0 value ranges from 0.6-4.37 Hz, the Amplification Factor ranges from 1.4-17.1, the sediment thickness (H) ranges from 24.5-240.8 m, and the seismic susceptibility index ranges from 1.72E-04 - 3.21E-02 cm/s2. Based on the mapping and modeling, it shows that alluvial rocks dominate the locations that have the potential for landslides.
