Abstract

This study discusses the development of a mathematics learning video based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) on quadrilaterals, which aims to determine the process of developing a valid, practical, and effective RME-based mathematics learning video. The type of research used is research and development (R&D) with a 4D development model consisting of four stages: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The subjects of this study were 20 students of grade VII of SMP Negeri 4 Selayar. The instruments used included expert validation sheets, student activity observation sheets, teacher ability observation sheets in managing learning, student response questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The developed learning video was declared valid based on the study's results. This video was declared practical based on the teacher's ability to manage learning, which was categorized as very good, and the results of the teacher response questionnaire were categorized as very practical. In addition, this video was also declared effective because it met three criteria for effectiveness: student response questionnaires with a very positive category, student activities that were classified as good, and mathematics learning outcome tests that achieved a 100% completion percentage. The development of RME-based learning videos provides valid, practical, and effective learning media, which can help teachers manage mathematics learning in a more interactive and meaningful way.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the characteristics and distribution of Higher Order Thinking Skills type questions in class X high school mathematics textbooks on Trigonometry material of the independent curriculum published by Erlangga in terms of indicators of Higher Order Thinking Skills questions based on the revised Bloom Taxonomy. The type of research used is descriptive qualitative to provide an overview of the characteristics and distribution of HOTS questions on trigonometry material contained in class X mathematics textbooks of the independent curriculum, compiled by Drs. B. K. Noormandiri, M.Pd., published by Erlangga. The subject of this research is the question of each comprehension test in chapter 3 in the grade X high school mathematics textbook on trigonometry material. Data collection uses related documents. In this study, an analysis was conducted to describe the characteristics and distribution of questions based on Anderson & Krathwohl's Revised Bloom Taxonomy on Trigonometry material totaling 40 questions. The results showed that the comprehension test questions contained in class X high school mathematics textbooks, especially on Trigonometry material, there were only 4 questions that could be grouped as HOTS questions. These questions are only in the lowest aspect of HOTS, namely at the cognitive level of analyzing (C4). There is no practice question that can be categorized as HOTS questions in the aspect of analyzing (C5) and creating (C6). The questions in the textbook are uneven in supporting students' higher order thinking skills.

Abstract

Penelitian ini membahas penggunaan media puzzle dalam perkembangan berpikir logis anak usia 5-6 tahun di TK Ceria Kasimpurang, Sinjai Barat, Kabupaten Sinjai. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengevaluasi pengaruh media puzzle terhadap perkembangan berpikir logis anak di TK Ceria Kasimpurang. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Informan terdiri dari 2 guru kelas dan 12 peserta didik di TK Ceria Kasimpurang. Data dianalisis dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan analisis data kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 12 anak peserta didik kelas B di TK Ceria Kasimpurang, tidak ada yang berada dalam kategori "belum berkembang" (BB). Sebanyak 7 anak berada dalam kategori "mulai berkembang" (MB), 3 anak berada dalam kategori "berkembang sesuai harapan" (BSH), dan 2 anak berada dalam kategori "berkembang sangat baik" (BSB) dalam perkembangan berpikir logis. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan media puzzle di TK Ceria Kasimpurang masih belum optimal, dan sekolah berada dalam tahap "mulai berkembang" dalam hal ini. Implikasi dari penelitian ini adalah perlunya maksimalkan penggunaan media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kemampuan peserta didik, meningkatkan minat belajar, dan perhatian lebih lanjut terhadap perkembangan berpikir logis anak agar perkembangan kognitif lebih kompleks dengan pemahaman yang lebih baik dan komprehensif.

Abstract

Critical thinking and reasoning skills are essential cognitive aspects that must be developed in mathematics education to address the demands of the 21st century. This study aimed to analyze the differences in students’ critical thinking and reasoning abilities in solving open-ended problems through the implementation of Problem-Based Learning and Discovery Learning models. A quantitative approach was used, employing an experimental method with a factorial design. The sample consisted of two groups of students, each receiving a different treatment, with a total of 58 participants. The research instrument was a set of open-ended essay questions. Data were analyzed using univariate t-tests and multivariate mean difference tests. The findings indicated no significant difference in critical thinking skills between students taught with the two learning models. However, a significant difference was found in reasoning ability, as well as a simultaneous difference in both critical thinking and reasoning between the groups.

Abstract

Problem-solving is a fundamental mathematical skill that serves as both the primary goal and the core of mathematics education. Problem-solving is often presented in the form of word problems, including those found in the topic of systems of linear equations in two variables (SPLDV). Self-efficacy is one of the many factors that influence students' problem-solving abilities. This study aims to describe the problem-solving abilities of junior high school students based on their self-efficacy levels. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects were three eighth-grade students from MTsN 1 Bone. The primary instrument used in this study was the researcher, supported by interview guidelines and a problem-solving test on the SPLDV material. The findings revealed that high-ability students were able to plan and implement strategies to solve problems effectively, while students with moderate and low abilities lacked accuracy in solving problems. All three students demonstrated a reasonably good level of self-confidence in solving the given problems, utilized their learning experiences in the process, and had a positive outlook on the results obtained. The implication of this study suggests that strengthening students' self-efficacy can be an effective strategy for improving mathematical problem-solving skills, particularly in the topic of SPLDV.

Abstract

One of the most important competencies in the 21st century is mathematical literacy. However, the importance of mathematical literacy has not been in line with the achievements of Indonesian students, who are still relatively low. One of the reasons is that the learning model used to manage activities in the classroom has not been maximized. The writing of this article provides an overview of the development of Real Math Literacy (RML) learning model components consisting of syntax, social system, reaction principles, support system, instructional impact, and accompanying impact. Real Math Literacy (RML) learning model designed is the result of analysis, elaboration, and synthesis of relevant learning theories, the main components underlying mathematical literacy, the discovery learning model, and assessment for learning. Real Math Literacy (RML) learning model is expected to be a practical alternative for educators in designing learning processes that can improve students' mathematical literacy.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui keefektivan penerapan model pembelajaran project based learning (PjBL) terhadap kemampuan literasi matematika peserta didik. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif, yang dilaksanakan di SMPN 2 Bulukumba dengan populasi berjumlah 201 peserta didik kelas IX dan jumlah sampel sebanyak 50 peserta didik yang dipilih menggunakan simple random sampling. Instrumen penelitian berupa tes kemampuan literasi matematika. Teknik analisis data berupa statistic deskriptif dan statistic inferensial yaitu independent sampel t test dan uji efektivitas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran project based learning (PjBL) memiliki pengaruh secara signifikan dan efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi matematika peserta didik kelas IX SMPN 2 Bulukumba.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui penyebab terjadinya miskonsepsi siswa pada materi Sistem Persamaan Linear Dua Variabel (SPLDV) serta miskonsepsi yang muncul ketika siswa menggunakan Three Tier Test pada materi SPLDV. Penelitian ini dikategorikan sebagai penelitian deskriptif dan menggunakan metode kualitatif. Kelas VIII-C menjadi subjek penelitian yang dilaksanakan di SMP Negeri 52 Makassar. Teknink pengumpulan datanya yaitu, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah tahap Miles dan Huberman, yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Uji keabsahan data menggunakan teknik triangulasi. Three Tier Test dan instruksi wawancara yang telah menjalani dua validasi yahni instrumen penelitian yang digunakan. berfungsi sebagai alat penelitian. Instrumen tersebut divalidasi oleh dua validator dan dianggap sesuai untuk digunakan.  Temuan penelitian, kesalahpahaman berikut muncul dalam materi SPLDV menggunakan Tes Tiga Tingkat: 1) Menggunakan situasi sebagai dasar untuk model matematika dalam bentuk persamaan linier dua variabel dan memanfaatkan pendekatan gabungan untuk menangani serangkaian persamaan linier dalam dua variabel. 2) Buatlah grafik dari sistem persamaan linier dua variabel yang diberikan. 3) Identifikasi persamaan linier dua variabel. Siswa, instruktur, materi instruksional, dan elemen lainnya seperti keterbatasan waktu adalah sumber kesalahpahaman siswa.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the application of ethnomathematics in the Bissu Traditional House in Pangkep Regency, South Sulawesi, by examining the various mathematical concepts embedded in the design and structure of the building. A qualitative method with an ethnographic approach was employed. Data were collected through direct observation, interviews with the guardians of the traditional house (Puang Matoa), and field documentation. The data were analyzed through the stages of reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Bissu Traditional House incorporates concepts such as geometry, numerical patterns, proportionality, symmetry, and measurement. These concepts were then adapted into questions and contextual learning activities for the classroom, including calculating the volume of a triangular prism, analyzing symmetry, and determining stair gradients. This study demonstrates that ethnomathematics can serve as a bridge between mathematics learning and cultural preservation, fostering relevant, contextual, and meaningful learning experiences for students.
