Abstract

Green packaging can be a solution to environmental pollution problems caused by plastic waste generation as a result of bakery business packaging. One of them is paper-based packaging which is considered easier to recycle so that it is also automatically more environmentally friendly. However, bakery businesses still don't use green packaging a lot, which indicates low interest in using green packaging. This study aims to describe consumer perceptions of bakery businesses on plastic packaging and paper packaging. The research was conducted in Indramayu Regency from February to May 2023. The results showed that consumers preferred paper-based packaging to plastic packaging, namely 83.00% for bakery products and 68.00% for sponge cake products. Consumers who like plastic packaging have the perception that plastic packaging for bakery products is practical, attractive, inexpensive, and protects the product better. For sponge cake products, consumers consider plastic packaging to be attractive, practical and protect the product better. Meanwhile, consumers who prefer paper-based packaging think that paper packaging as a packaging for bakery products can reduce plastic waste, is practical, attractive, protects products better, is more hygienic and healthy, and is unique. For sponge cake products, consumers consider paper packaging to be attractive, protect the product better, reduce plastic waste, and be practical. The large number of positive perceptions of paper packaging compared to plastic packaging indicates that consumers have started to switch to environmentally friendly habits.

Abstract

Ciamis Regency is one of the main areas for horticultural agriculture in West Java for chili commodities, where there are five sub-districts as the main contributors to chili production, including Sukamantri, Panumbangan, Panjalu, Cihaurbeuti and Panawangan sub-districts. The aim of this research is to see whether there are significant differences in chili production and evaluate the production levels of the five sub-districts in Ciamis Regency during the period 2018 to 2022. The data collection method uses library research using secondary data taken from BPS Ciamis Regency. One Way ANOVA test was carried out to test the proposed hypothesis. The results of the research show that there are significant differences in chili production between Sukamantri sub-district and four other sub-districts, namely Panjalu, Panumbangan, Cihaurbeuti and Panawangan sub-districts. However, there are no significant differences between the four sub-districts, so it is assumed that the average production output is almost the same.

Abstract

One of the important activities in oil palm cultivation is harvesting. This activity is very important because it is directly related to the yields quantity and quality, which will affect the farmer's income. In the Regulation of Agriculture Minister of the Republic of Indonesia No. 131/Permentan/OT.140/12/2013 concerning the Guidelines for Good Palm Oil Cultivation, states that farmers must implement Good Agriculture Practices (GAP). The aim of this research is to analyze the implmentation of GAP in oil palm harvesting activities by the Sukabumi II Farmers Group, the problems faced by farmers in implementing  GAP, and find out the right solution. The research was carried out using a qualitative approach, and the research technique was a case study at the Sukabumi II Farmers Group in Lubuk Gaung Village, Sungai Sembilan Subdistrict, Dumai Municipality, Riau Province. Informants were selected purposively, namely: heads of farmer groups, Field Agricultural Extension, staff of related agencies, community leaders, and harvest workers. Data were analyzed descriptively and using the Causal Loop Diagram tool. The results of the research show that only around 25 percent of farmers in the Sukabumi II Farming Group carry out oil palm harvesting activities in accordance with the GAP. The problems faced by farmers in implementing GAP are: the narrow area of oil palm plantations, low knowledge about good harvest methods, have another more profitable jobs, and the merchant do not pay attention to the yields quality. The solution to the problems above are continuous coaching on the benefits of using the correct harvest method so as to increase the selling value of the harvest, and strengthening farmers' bargaining position through implementing a one-stop sales system.

Abstract

Palm sugar is a processed product from palm trees (nira) which is cultivated by many craftsmen, especially UMKM craftsmen. Activity of UMKM is an effort to increase income for palm sugar craftsmen. However, there are still obstacles in its development, namely the difficulty of obtaining raw materials in the form of nira because it is related to tradition and the low selling price of palm sugar. This low price results in the craftsmen's income being low. Generally, craftsmen never take into account production costs in detail, so that the income they earn cannot be calculated with certainty. The aim of this research is to calculate the costs and income of palm sugar craftsmen, as well as the factors that influence craftsmen to run a palm sugar business. The research method used is a case study in Ciranggem Village, Jatigede District, Sumedang Regency by taking 10 palm sugar craftsmen with census. The research results show that for one palm sugar production process, the average cost incurred is Rp. 164,000 and produces 10 kg of palm sugar. The selling price for palm sugar is Rp. 20,000/kg, so the income earned is Rp. 36,000/one production process. The R/C for palm sugar is 1.22, meaning that the palm sugar business is worth pursuing. The factors that most influence craftsmen to cultivate palm sugar are to increase family income.

Abstract

Indonesia is experiencing a deficit in crude oil, necessitating the country to import oil from other nations. In response to this, the government has issued policies to replace fossil fuels with biodiesel, especially from palm oil. Palm oil biodiesel is identified as a crucial component in achieving the renewable energy blend targets set by the government. This research employs a descriptive qualitative method with a case study approach to analyze the factors influencing the development of palm oil biodiesel. The results of the analysis of internal and external factors indicate that palm oil biodiesel has the strength to enhance the value-added of palm oil products. However, there are weaknesses related to uneven fuel supply storage. The most significant opportunities lie in a promising market due to the consistently high demand for fuel, but threats arise from palm oil production prioritized for export. Through a SWOT analysis, six strategies are derived to ensure the sustainability of biodiesel production, enhance the quality of operational facilities, and provide transparent information to the public. Subsequently, the SMART Goals analysis sets specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely targets for the new renewable energy blend through the specific development of palm oil biodiesel. This research focuses on concrete strategies and steps that can be implemented to optimize the role of palm oil biodiesel in achieving new renewable energy targets in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Giri Senang Forest Farmer Group (KTH) has experienced a significant decline in arabica coffee production over the past few years. This indicates the existence of risks that need to be addressed immediately. The research was conducted with the aim of identifying the causes of risks in arabica coffee farming, understanding the mitigation actions that have been taken by KTH Giri Senang, and proposing mitigation actions that can be implemented to overcome these problems. The research was carried out using descriptive qualitative analysis with a case study research technique. The causes of risk were identified using a Fishbone Diagram and analyzed with the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method. Based on the results of the research, there are 7 priority risk causes out of 26 total causes: unfavorable weather, leaf rust disease, insufficient or excessive rainfall, leaf spot disease, coffee berry borer pests, weather changes due to the La Nina-El Nino phenomenon, and lack of pruning. Mitigation actions that have been taken include making a holding pond, using pesticides, traps, pest control agents, harvesting spoils, and sanitation to eradicate pests and diseases, as well as forming a Pest Control Team. Proposed mitigation actions that can be implemented include organizing agricultural insurance, subsidizing insurance premiums, making holes or roraks, switching to organic farming, using spare harvest bags, collaborating with educational or research institutions, holding discussion forums for farmers, and creating video tutorials and educational content as alternative extension activities.
