Abstract

This study addresses a critical gap in comparative research on the agricultural rutawt tradition as an integrated model for national food security within Indonesia's ethnic diversity. The objective of this study is to analyze the symbolic communication and value negotiation of Ruwat Pertanian across three communities: Kasepuhan Ciptagelar, located in West Java, Kasepuhan Cicarucub in Banten, and Adirasa in Central Java. A qualitative comparative-ethnographic approach was employed to collect data through in-depth interviews with traditional leaders and direct observations. The results identify three distinct models of cultural resilience: the Conservative Model in Ciptagelar, which strictly preserves ecological authority to maintain food sovereignty; the Integrative Model in Cicarucub, which harmonizes ancestral customs with Islamic values; and the Pragmatic Model in Adirasa, which rationalizes rituals for economic utility. Despite these variations, Ruwat functions as an ecological rite of passage that serves to legitimize spiritual authority and sustainable cultivation norms. These findings offer critical policy implications, suggesting that integrating these diverse local wisdom typologies specifically the leuit system and syncretic practices into national strategies is essential for achieving food sovereignty and religious moderation

Abstract

The global environmental crisis demands a communication approach that is not solely technocratic but also rooted in society's moral and cultural values . In Muslim societies, Eco-Islam offers a relevant theological-ethical framework, but previous studies tend to emphasize normative aspects and local practices, while the media's role in shaping and disseminating Eco-Islamic narratives remains understudied. This study aims to analyze the construction and representation of Eco-Islamic narratives in environmental communication, identify the actors and media involved, and evaluate the challenges and strategies of media communication in academic literature. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) in accordance with the PRISMA 2020 guidelines. A search was conducted in Scopus and Google Scholar databases for English-language open-access journal articles published between 2017 and 2025. Of the 276 initial documents, 20 articles were analyzed using thematic content analysis. The results show the dominance of the values of Tawhid, Khilafah, and Amanah mediated through religious and digital media, but they are still normative and do not encourage changes in ecological behavior. This study enriches studies of environmental communication through media and religion and offers strategic implications for the development of more transformative Eco-Islamic communication

Abstract

Background: This study addresses the critical issue of workforce readiness for Industry 4.0, focusing on the community service subject of the Balai Latihan Kerja Komunitas (BLKK) vocational training program. It aims to evaluate the program's effectiveness in enhancing the skills of participants from rural and underserved communities to meet modern labor market demands. Purpose of the Study: The purpose is to assess the impact of the BLKK program on improving participants' employability and entrepreneurial preparedness. Its objectives are to evaluate training effectiveness, measure participant satisfaction and self-efficacy gains, and identify key factors for sustainable skill development. Methods: The research employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, actively engaging at least 34 BLKK partners and participants in identifying skill gaps and co-creating the training curriculum. The analysis was framed within a multidisciplinary theoretical framework combining Empowerment Theory, Human Capital Theory, and Digital Literacy Theory. Results: The findings indicate exceptionally high participant satisfaction, with a mean score of 4.38/5 for training quality. The program successfully enhanced economic preparedness, with 59% of participants strongly agreeing they felt more prepared for employment or entrepreneurship. Key to this success was the integration of digital literacy, technical skills, and continuous mentoring. Recommendations include expanding digital literacy components and strengthening long-term mentorship and external network support to ensure program sustainability and economic inclusion.
