Abstract

Discourse on trustee and witness in marriage is one of the seemingly never-ending controversies. Discussions surrounding it, nevertheless, is regarded as the access point to the equality between the role of men and that of women. Even though both sides whose opinion is contradictory all the way around have the same goal in elevating women’s value and dignity, methods and approaches they conduct in comprehending the religious texts are different to each other. For this reason, the re-interpretation of the texts can presumably bridge the gap. The discourse, however complex it is, can be solved in different situation by using methods developed by traditional and contemporary scholars. This article elaborate principle methods in re-interpreting authoritative religious texts relating to, more particularly, trustee and witness in marriage based on Islamic Jurisprudence, as well as arguments proposed by both sides and the re-interpretation to their arguments.

Abstract

UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is an institution representing Islam as values, religion, ideology, rituals, and symbols. With these characters, Islamic political parties gain a high sympathy in this institution. Having approximately 25,000 students, 1000 academic and administrative staffs, UIN should have been a mass basis for Islamic political parties. Despite the assumption that Islamic community is a potential vote raiser for Islamic political parties, the parties were not significantly considered by the UIN Jakarta academicians. This study focuses on the students’ acceptance on political parties by their party affiliations. 450 respondents were questioned on this matter and 51,1% of them stated that they are not affiliated or a part of Islamic political parties (while the 48,9% stated that they are). Only 42% of respondents (140 students) are affiliated to Islamic parties, while 58% are not.

The tradition of memorizing the Quran during the COVID-19 pandemic experienced obstacles, especially for students using Arabic as their language of instruction. This study, therefore, aims to explore the obstacles and creativity during their task of memorizing and repeating the Quran (murojaah) , particularly in answering the question; what are their challenges and creativity on learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and to what extent this creativity can be maintained in normal periods. The findings of this study prove that among their obstacles are the burdensome learning method, internet network problems, and limited pulse. While their creativity is the use of new applications, memorization with partners, and voice recording. Furthermore, this study also demonstrates that the pandemic does not restrict them to be successful in their tasks and make their memorization fluent, they, even, can encourage new creativity that can be maintained in normal times. This research method is in the theme of living Quran research which makes the tradition of memorizing as part of the type of community interaction with the Quran.

Abstract

This study aims to explain the integration of science and Islam contained in the vision and mission of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Indonesia, as seen in the theme of my student thesis at the Faculty of Science and Technology. This research is qualitative. The object of study for the Faculty of Science and Technology student thesis is the Informatics Systems Study Program at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta. Implementation of research in 2000–2020 The instrument used is an observation of the thesis theme, which aims to map the thesis from a scientific integration perspective. Interview techniques and questionnaires for lecturers and students via Google Forms are used to obtain information about obstacles and solutions in student research related to scientific integration. According to the study's findings, there has been scientific integration in final student assignments in the form of a thesis theme that connects science and the study of the Qur'an with all of its obstacles and challenges. With the concept of policy implementation, it was found that the cause of these obstacles was the vision of scientific integration at the university level, which needed to be entirely appropriately coordinated. The implication is the lack of synchronization between university programs and the units below them. The findings of this study will show a new relationship between religion and science that students can implement in their thesis.

Abstract

This article aims to describe the exclusiveness of the interpretation of the tartīb nuzūli model (an interpretation written based on the sūrah order) by Izzat Darwazah in his interpretation, Tafsīr al-Ḥadis. This article found that some ahl al-kitāb is disbelievers (kāfīr), while others are muʾmin. The term ahl al-kitāb is not only used by Jews and Christians but as Majūsī, Ṣābiʾīn, and others also receive books from Allah they also can be categorized as ahl al-kitāb. This article used a thematic interpretation method by collecting verses talking about ahl al-kitāb, and the discussion was carried out using a content analysis approach. We compared Tafsir al-Ḥadith written by Izzat Darwazah and other interpretation works. We concluded that not all ahl al-kitāb have similar attitudes to Prophet Muhammad and Muslims. Based on the Quran revelation order, as the basis of Sūrah’s order in writing this interpretation, Izzat Darwazah explained that the Quran describes the ahl al-kitāb in Mecca as softer than those in Madinah. Ahl al-kitāb in Mecca admitted the existence of Muhammad as the Prophet and Apostle and accepted the truth of his treatise, The Quran. Even they left their old faith and moved to Islam. Then, marriage and food exchange between Muslims and non-Muslims were allowed by the Quran as a big step in the road map of tolerance between Islam and other religions.
