Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the form of politeness compliance in Makassar language in learning interaction, (2) describe the form of politeness violation in Makassar language in learning interaction. This research is a qualitative research with descriptive design. Data collection techniques in this research used observation method, free listening technique and recording technique. Data analysis in the study used qualitative descriptive analysis method, namely (1) data tabulation, (2) data presentation, (3) interpretation, and (4) making conclusions. The results showed that there is (1). The form of politeness compliance in Makassar language in learning interaction is in the form of (a) maxim of wisdom, (b) maxim of praise, (c) maxim of agreement, and (d) maxim of sympathy. (2). The form of violation of politeness in Makassar language in the interaction is in the form of (a) maxim of wisdom, (b) maxim of praise, (c) maxim of agreement, and (d) maxim of sympathy.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the reading comprehension ability of Bugis folklore texts of class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Maros. This research is descriptive quantitative. The population in this study were all class X students totaling 134 people. The sample set as many as 100 students using simple random sampling technique . The data analysis technique used to collect data in this study is the reading test technique. The data to be collected were analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that the ability to read comprehension of Bugis folklore texts of class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Maros was declared incapable. This can be seen in the percentage of students who scored ≥75 as many as 69 people with a percentage (69%) in the category of not being able to reach the set criteria of 75%.

Abstract

This study is a quantitative research using a pre-experimental method aimed to: (1) describe the poetry writing skills of 12th-grade students at SMA Negeri 2 Sidrap before applying the Project-Based Learning model; (2) describe the students' poetry writing skills after using the model; and (3) examine the significant impact of the Project-Based Learning model on students' poetry writing skills. The sample consisted of 120 students selected randomly from a population of 173 students. Data were collected through pretests and posttests. The analysis results showed a significant improvement in students' poetry writing skills after applying the model, with a t-test result indicating a t-value (17.74) greater than the t-table (1.980), proving that the Project-Based Learning model had a significant effect on students' poetry writing skill.

Abstract

Abstrak. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan soft skills siswa melalui pelatihan drama di SMP Islam Athirah Makassar. Program dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan partisipatif dan experiential learning yang menempatkan siswa sebagai subjek aktif dalam proses pembelajaran kreatif. Kegiatan berlangsung selama empat minggu dengan melibatkan 25 siswa kelas VIII melalui tahapan orientasi, pelatihan, kolaborasi pementasan, dan refleksi. Data dikumpulkan secara kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan jurnal reflektif untuk menilai perubahan perilaku dan sikap peserta. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan signifikan pada kepercayaan diri, kemampuan komunikasi verbal, kerja sama, dan empati siswa. Pelatihan drama menjadi media efektif untuk menumbuhkan ekspresi diri, mengatasi rasa takut, serta menginternalisasi nilai-nilai karakter seperti tanggung jawab, kejujuran, dan kedisiplinan. Guru juga merasakan peningkatan kreativitas dan keterlibatan siswa dalam pembelajaran. Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini membuktikan bahwa pembelajaran berbasis seni dapat menjadi strategi pedagogis inovatif dalam memperkuat keterampilan abad ke-21, terutama dalam membangun karakter, kreativitas, dan kesadaran sosial siswa di lingkungan sekolah.Kata kunci: soft skills, pelatihan drama, pendidikan karakter

Abstract

Nilai Budaya dalam Tradisi Sampulo Anruwa pada Masyarakat di Kelurahan Garassi Kecamatan Tinggimoncong Kabupaten Gowa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai budaya yang ada dalam tradisi Sampulo Anruwa pada masyarakat di Kelurahan Garassi Kecamatan Tinggimoncong Kabupaten Gowa dengan menggunakan teori nilai budaya yang dikemukakan oleh Steward Djamaris. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kulaitatif, yang bertujuan untuk mendapatkan informasi mengenai kondisi objek penelitian yang ada. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tradisi Sampulo Anruwa tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sarana untuk memperkuat ikatan sosial antar anggota masyarakat, tetapi juga sebagai media untuk mengekspresikan identitas budaya yang kaya. Dalam pelaksanaannya terdapat nilai nilai budaya seperti, ketakwaan, suka berdoa, berserah diri kepada kekuasaan Tuhan, gotong royong, tolong-menolong, musyawarah, kerukunan, penyatuan dan pemanfaatan daya alam. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi dalam pemahaman lebih lanjut mengenai kekayaan budaya, serta pentingnya pelestarian tradisi dalam menghadapi tantangan modernisasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji keefektifan media cerita bergambar dalam pembelajaran membaca nyaring bahasa Makassar pada siswa kelas III UPT SDN 13 Bontoramba, Kabupaten Jeneponto. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan membaca nyaring siswa, ditandai dengan kurangnya intonasi, mimik, dan ketepatan pelafalan saat membaca. Metode yang digunakan adalah eksperimen dengan desain One Group Pretest-Posttest. Populasi penelitian berjumlah 23 siswa dengan teknik sampling jenuh. Instrumen yang digunakan berupa tes membaca nyaring yang mencakup pelafalan, intonasi, tanda baca, dan ekspresi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 71,7 dengan ketuntasan 47%, meningkat menjadi 81,56 pada posttest. Uji hipotesis menggunakan uji-t menunjukkan thitung (14,35) > ttabel (9,70), sehingga H₀ ditolak dan H₁ diterima. Dengan demikian, media cerita bergambar terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca nyaring bahasa Makassar siswa kelas III.

Abstract

Tradisi Attowana Lemba pada masyarakat Makassar di desa Boddia Kabupaten Takalar (Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan mitos dalam ritual Attowana Lemba masyarakat makassar di desa Boddia Kabupaten Takalar memiliki makna (1) denotasi yaitu unti tekne, bente, kanrejawa buaja, dupa, kaluku, leko passili, jajjakkang, sikuyu, umba-umba, jangang kebo, taibani, bayao. Makna (2) konotasi yaitu unti tekne, songkolok, jajjakkang, jangang kebo melambangkan harapan akan keselamatan, kesehatan, rezeki yang lancar, serta kehidupan yang manis. Makna (3) mitos yaitu beberapa benda diyakini membawa penyakit dan pertanda buruk, seperti rake-rake dimaknakan sebagai pembawa penyakit, unti tekne sebagai tanda bencana berturut-turut, bente menandakan kekurangan rezeki, dan kanrejawa kalotorok sebagai pertanda hal buruk. Namun ada pula yang bermakna positif, seperti dupa sebagai penolak bala dan kaluku sebagai lambang hati yang bersih.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms and functions of illocutionary speech acts found in the dialogues of Almira Bastari’s novel Home Sweet Loan. The objectives of the study are to describe the forms of illocutionary speech acts in Almira Bastari’s novel Home Sweet Loan, and to describe the functions of illocutionary speech acts in Almira Bastari’s novel Home Sweet Loan. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method, with data sourced from the dialogues in Almira Bastari’s novel Home Sweet Loan. The data collection techniques used are reading, note-taking, and documentation. The results of this study indicate that five forms of illocutionary speech acts were identified in Almira Bastari’s novel Home Sweet Loan, namely assertive, directive, expressive, commissive, and declarative. Twenty functions of illocutionary acts were identified. Four functions of the assertive illocutionary act were found: stating, suggesting, complaining, and affirming. Eight functions of the directive illocutionary act were found: commanding, requesting, advising, recommending, prohibiting, asking, warning, and questioning. Five functions were identified in the expressive speech act category: expressing gratitude, offering congratulations, apologising, blaming, and praising. Twenty functions were identified in the commissive speech act category: offering something and refusing. One function was identified in the declarative speech act category: resigning oneself.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the comparative educational dimensions in Pramoedya Ananta Toer's Bumi Manusia novels and Tere Liye's Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar (Continue to Be Stupid, Don't Be Smart) through the perspective of Hans Robert Jauss's literary reception theory. Using a qualitative descriptive method with a comparative literature approach, this study examines three main dimensions: affective, cognitive, and moral. The data sources are linguistic units in both novels collected through literature study, reading and note-taking, and content analysis. Data analysis was conducted systematically through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that both novels function as media for social transformation and character education. Bumi Manusia novel presents colonial resistance through a poetic-symbolic style, while Tere Liye's work critiques modern capitalism straightforwardly. The novelty of this study lies in the application of a three-dimensional educational analysis, the first of its kind in Teruslah Bodoh Jangan Pintar (Continue to Be Stupid, Don't Be Smart), emphasizing literature's position as a relevant, cross-era humanistic educational tool.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the representation of love in the novel Kau, Aku, dan Sepucuk Angpau Merah by Tere Liye using Robert Sternberg's Love Triangle theory which includes three main components, namely intimacy, passion, and commitment. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a thematic analysis approach. The research data are in the form of quotations in the novel that contain elements of love based on the three main components of Robert Sternberg's theory (1986). The analysis process is carried out through the stages of data reduction, classification, and interpretation of the meaning of the quotations in accordance with the theoretical framework used. The results of the study show that the novel Kau, Aku, dan Sepucuk Angpau Merah represents love in a deep and complex way through its three components: 1) intimacy is depicted through emotional closeness, sincere attention, and warmth of the relationship between the characters Borno and Mei; 2) passion is seen through feelings of longing, emotional attraction, and inner turmoil described with symbolic and reflective language; and 3) commitment is the most dominant aspect, shown through an attitude of loyalty, determination, and sincerity to love even if it means letting go. Furthermore, combined forms of love, such as romantic love (intimacy and passion) and friendly love (intimacy and commitment), enrich the dynamics of relationships between characters. This research confirms that Tere Liye's works present love stories not only as a form of romance, but also as a reflection of human emotional and moral maturity. Thus, this research contributes to the development of psychological literary studies and strengthens the relevance of Robert Sternberg's theory of love in the analysis of modern Indonesian literary works.
