Abstract

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution 4.0 demands improvements in the quality of education to produce superior human resources. In learning chemistry, especially colloid materials, students still have difficulty understanding abstract concepts and show low science literacy. This study aims to determine the needs analysis, the feasibility of e-modules, and the improvement of student learning outcomes using STEM e-modules based on project-based learning on colloid materials. This study was conducted at SMAN 1 Percut Sei Tuan and the sample class Matlanfor. The research method used is Research and Development (R & D), and the development model is ADDIE. Data collection is through interviews, observations, questionnaires, and tests. Data analysis of learning outcomes improvement uses the N-Gain test. The results obtained indicate that teachers have not maximised the use of the PjBL learning model and have never used PjBL-based STEM E-Modules; the books used do not contain projects or STEM. 77% of students reported feeling bored during the learning process because the media used or the teacher's teaching methods were less engaging. 92% need new teaching materials to improve students' knowledge of colloid learning through PjBL-based STEM E-Modules. The project-based learning (STEM) e-module on colloidal materials had a feasibility of 90.39%, categorised as very high, and was declared feasible. The learning outcomes of students who were treated with the PjBL-based STEM e-module increased by 72.47%.

Abstract

This research investigates the differences in learning outcomes and student activities between the Project-Based Learning (PBL) model and the conventional teaching model on acid-base material at SMAN 2 Percut Sei Tuan. Two classes from the XI grade were selected as samples: one experimental class using the PBL model and one control class using traditional lecture and discussion methods. Data analysis involved tests for normality, homogeneity, hypotheses, and correlations. The Independent Sample T-test results indicated a significant difference in both learning outcomes and student activities, with a significance value of 0.00 (? 0.05), supporting the acceptance of Ha and the rejection of H0. Furthermore, the correlation test revealed a significant relationship between learning outcomes and student activities in the PjBL context, with a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (? 0.005). These findings highlight the efficacy of the PjBL model in enhancing student engagement and academic performance in learning acid-base concepts.

Abstract

Chemistry learning on acid-base material still tends to be abstract and less related to everyday life, so innovative and contextual teaching materials are needed. This study aims to develop and determine the level of validity and response of teachers and students to LKPD based on discovery learning model with ethnoscience integration in acid-base chemistry material. This study is a research and development research (R&D) with a 4D model that was carried out up to the development stage involving expert validators, chemistry teachers, grade XI students as research subjects, using instruments in the form of validation sheets and Likert scale response questionnaires. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of the discovery learning model with an ethnoscience approach that links the concept of acid-base with local cultural phenomena, so that learning becomes contextual and meaningful. The results showed that the developed LKPD had a validity level of material experts of 80.42% (feasible category) and media experts of 81.87% (very feasible category). Teacher responses to LKPD were 96.79% and students' responses were 81.11% with a very feasible category. These results indicate that the developed worksheets are not only valid and practical, but also have the potential to enhance conceptual understanding and student engagement in learning, thus supporting more contextual and meaningful acid-base chemistry learning through connections to everyday life.
