Abstract

Energi listrik merupakan salah satu unsur terpenting dalam aktivitas masyarakat. Hampir seluruh aktivitas membutuhkan energi listrik untuk bekerja dengan alat atau mesin disertai dengan perkembangan teknologi yang semakin meningkat. Indonesia memanfaatkan batu bara sebagai energi sebanyak 30%, bahan bakar gas 23%, BBM sejumlah 41%, dan 6% lainnya memanfaatkan sumber energi terbarukan. TPA Pakusari per harinya sampai pada angka 194 ton dari 17 kecamatan yang artinya dalam satu tahun dihasilkan sampah kisaran 70.810 ton. Maka proses pengolahan energi sampah sebagai sumber energi alternatif PLTSa (Pembangkit Listrik Tenaga Sampah) dirasa tepat menjadi inovasi teknologi untuk menyelesaikan permasalahan rkait pengolahan sampah di TPA Pakusari Kabupaten Jember. Metode yang digunakan adalah Analisa potensi sampah yang dapat diubah menjadi sumber energi PLTSa.  Dengan sumber potensi energi sampah 5.820 ton setiap bulannya dapat memproduksi energi listrik sebesar 1.820,3kWh.

Abstract

Sisa Batu bara di lokasi pertambangan, menjadi masalah pencemaran lingkungan, sehingga perlu langkah yang tepat. Bekas batu bara yang tidak terpakai di pertambangan, sebenarnya memiliki potensi sebagai briket bio-batu bara. Perlu modifikasi dalam pembuatan briket bio-batu bara. Pada penelitian ini, melakukan metode eksperimen terkait pengaruh penambahan arang tebu dan proses pirolisis. Hasil uji proksimat, terjadi perbedaan briket bio-batu bara batu bara (BP) dan (BTP). Nilai kalori (BP) sebesar 5129,05 kal/gram dan (BTP) 5374,87 kal/gram. Nilai kadar air, abu, zat terbang dan karbon juga terjadi perbedaan, hal ini juga disebabkan pengaruh proses pirolisis. Pengujian laju pembakaran selama 30 menit, briket bio-batu bara  (BP) terjadi penurunan massa sebesar 24,68 gram dan (BTP) 27,36 gram. Laju pembakaran briket bio-batu bara (BP) rata-rata 0,85 gram/s dan (BTP) 0,99%. Proses pirolisis memiliki pengaruh terhadap uji proksimat, penurunan massa dan laju pembakaran. Batu bara proses pirolisis, memiliki karakteristik tidak keras. Hal ini disebabkan suhu pirolisis dapat memecah struktur susunan batu bara, sehingga menjadi lebih lunak.

Abstract

Bahan bakar fosil yang mengandung minyak bumi memiliki dampak negatif bagi lingkungan dan ketersediaannya semakin menipis. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan alternatif bahan bakar yang dapat mengurangi emisi gas rumah kaca dan meningkatkan efisiensi mesin. Salah satu alternatif bahan bakar adalah bioetanol, yaitu bahan bakar nabati yang dihasilkan dari fermentasi tanaman seperti tebu, jagung, atau gandum. Bioetanol dapat digunakan secara langsung pada mesin atau dicampur dengan bensin sebagai campuran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis performa mesin motor 4 langkah dengan menggunakan campuran bioetanol-pertamax sebagai bahan bakar. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pengujian torsi dan daya pada mesin 4 langkah 110cc dengan variasi putaran mesin dari 5000-9000 rpm. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campuran bioetanol-pertamax dapat meningkatkan daya dan torsi mesin pada putaran tinggi, sehingga dapat menghemat konsumsi bahan bakar dan merawat mesin lebih baik.

Abstract

Roasted coffee is an Indonesian export product and the Ketakasi Cooperative is one of the coffee exporters and a tourist destination. In its development, the Ketakasi Cooperative needs a machine that can facilitate the roasting process and has a small capacity for profiling and educational tourism. The solution offered is the use of a Smart Eco Roasting Machine. The method for implementing this service is competency development in the form of training and mentoring at the Ketakasi Cooperative which includes three stages of activities, namely the preparation stage, implementation stage, and evaluation stage. Based on the overall evaluation results, there was an increase in the understanding of coffee farmers and cooperative administrators about the roasting process. Training participants are interested in using the Smart Eco Roasting Machine.

Abstract

Masalah pengelolaan limbah plastik rumah tangga telah menarik perhatian global karena dampak negatifnya terhadap lingkungan dan kesehatan manusia. Di Desa Plalangan, kabupaten Jember, permasalahan serupa juga menjadi isu yang membutuhkan solusi yang berkelanjutan. Tingkat pengangguran dan rendahnya perekonomian di desa tersebut menjadi hambatan utama dalam mencapai kesejahteraan masyarakat. Akumulasi limbah plastik rumah tangga yang sulit terurai, terutama dari konsumsi makanan dan minuman, mengakibatkan penyumbatan saluran drainase dan meningkatkan risiko banjir.Program ini bertujuan untuk mengatasi permasalahan lingkungan dan ekonomi di Desa Plalangan dengan memanfaatkan limbah plastik rumah tangga untuk produksi bahan bakar minyak. Tujuan khususnya adalah mengurangi limbah plastik, meningkatkan taraf hidup masyarakat melalui pelatihan produksi bahan bakar minyak, serta menciptakan model pemberdayaan ekonomi yang berkelanjutan. Pendekatan pembangunan komunitas diterapkan, dengan partisipasi aktif masyarakat dan dukungan akademisi dari Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember.Program ini melibatkan identifikasi dan pengumpulan limbah plastik, daur ulang menjadi bahan bakar minyak, pelatihan masyarakat, dan pemasaran produk bahan bakar minyak. Teknologi pirolisis digunakan untuk mengkonversi limbah plastik menjadi bahan bakar minyak tanpa melibatkan oksigen. Evaluasi program didasarkan pada jumlah limbah plastik yang diolah, peningkatan pendapatan masyarakat, serta keterlibatan mereka dalam program.Diharapkan program ini mampu memberikan solusi bagi permasalahan lingkungan dan ekonomi di Desa Plalangan, sambil menciptakan pemberdayaan ekonomi yang berkelanjutan bagi masyarakat desa.

Abstract

Limbah pertanian di Desa Plalangan memiliki dampak lingkungan yang signifikan jika tidak diolah dan dimanfaatkan dengan baik.  Proposal ini mengusulkan program pengabdian masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk memajukan industri ekonomi kreatif di Desa Plalangan melalui pemanfaatan limbah pertanian. Limbah pertanian seperti tongkol jagung dan jerami padi dapat dimanfaatkan untuk dijadikan bahan dalam produksi bahan bakar padat. Seperti banyak desa di Indonesia, Desa Plalangan memiliki potensi pertanian yang melimpah tetapi masih menghadapi tantangan ekonomi yang signifikan.Program ini akan melibatkan berbagai pihak, termasuk komunitas petani setempat, mahasiswa, dan tim peneliti. Kegiatan utama melibatkan pelatihan petani dalam pengelolaan limbah pertanian, khususnya limbah tongkol jagung dan jerami padi untuk diubah menjadi bahan bakar padat yang ramah lingkungan.Upaya ini juga akan membantu mengurangi dampak negatif penggunaan bahan bakar fosil di desa, mengurangi dampak limbah pertanian, dan mengurangi emisi karbon.Hasil yang diharapkan dari program ini adalah peningkatan pendapatan petani, peningkatan kesadaran lingkungan, dan dukungan nyata terhadap perkembangan industri ekonomi kreatif di Desa Plalangan. Melalui kolaborasi antara komunitas lokal, akademisi, dan peneliti, program ini diharapkan dapat menjadi contoh yang berdampak positif pada desa-desa lain di Indonesia, mempromosikan pembangunan berkelanjutan dan kreativitas ekonomi di tingkat lokal.

Abstract

Panarukan District, Situbondo Regency, has marine potential that supports marine fish-based processing industries, including UD FARAH in Paowan Village, a producer of turmeric fish chips. However, UD FARAH's production capacity is still low because it uses traditional equipment such as wood stoves. Technological development is needed to increase production efficiency and quality, which is expected to increase profits and meet growing market demand. The aim of this activity is to improve employee skills in operating Vacuum Frying Machines for the production of turmeric fish chips and strengthen their understanding of occupational safety and health (K3). UD FARAH faces traditional production problems which result in less than optimal product quality and quantity, as well as working conditions that do not meet K3 standards. Solutions include the application of Vacuum Frying Machine technology and K3 training to increase production efficiency and work safety. The program also includes mentoring and evaluation to ensure long-term success. After the service activities, UD FARAH experienced a significant increase in productivity and product quality with the implementation of the Vacuum Frying Machine. Employees' knowledge of technology and K3 also increases, which contributes to work safety and efficiency. In addition, the sustainability program includes marketing strategies and product diversification, such as the development of mango chips, which utilize local resources and open up new market opportunities. It is also hoped that the sustainability of this program will reduce UD FARAH's dependence on one type of product, increase competitiveness and create added value for the local community. This activity succeeded in improving the skills of UD FARAH employees in operating vacuum frying machines and implementing K3, as well as encouraging product diversification and improving marketing strategies to increase productivity and sales.

Abstract

This electrical maintenance training on three-wheeled motor vehicles aims to improve participants’ understanding and skills in diagnosing, repairing, and modifying electrical systems, focusing on the charging, ignition, and starter systems. The activity used a problem-based training approach and was held over two days at the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory of Universitas Muhammadiyah Jember. Participants included vocational students, beginner technicians, and micro-business operators. Evaluation was conducted through pre-tests and post-tests, practical observations, and satisfaction questionnaires. Results showed an increase in average scores from 51 to 86 and a high level of participant satisfaction. This training effectively strengthened participants’ technical competencies and contributed to community empowerment through practical automotive skills

Abstract

This Community Service Program was carried out in Tenggor Village with the aim of improving the productivity and efficiency of catfish farming through the application of the biofloc system. The biofloc method was selected for its ability to utilize microorganisms to convert organic waste into natural feed, thus reducing feed costs and maintaining water quality. The program was implemented using a participatory approach, involving stages of field surveys, socialization, technical training in biofloc pond construction, cultivation assistance, and evaluation for sustainability. The results show the successful construction of one biofloc pond with a capacity of 1,000–1,200 fish, an increase in community knowledge from 40% to 85%, faster growth rates with a survival rate of 90%, and operational feed cost efficiency of 20–30%. In addition to its economic benefits, the program strengthened community cooperation and improved entrepreneurial awareness. These outcomes indicate that the biofloc system has strong potential to be expanded as a model for sustainable local economic development based on aquaculture.

Abstract

Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) plays a critical role in maintaining safe and sustainable production, particularly in small-scale agro-industrial operations such as coffee processing. This study applies the Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Risk Control (HIRARC) framework to evaluate workplace hazards at Kopi Lanange Jagad, a micro-scale coffee producer in Malang Regency, Indonesia. Field observations and structured interviews were conducted to identify potential hazards across four production stages roasting, grinding, sieving, and packaging. Quantitative measurements were also taken, including ambient temperature, noise level, and airborne dust concentration, to provide empirical data for risk evaluation. The findings identified a total of 12 hazards, classified into three risk categories: high (25%), moderate (50%), and low (25%). The roasting process exhibited the highest risk score (R = 18.4), with average workplace temperatures reaching 85°C–120°C, significantly exceeding the national occupational limit of 30°C for moderate workloads (Permenaker No. 5/2018). The grinding stage also presented considerable hazards, with airborne dust concentrations averaging 2.4 mg/m³, approaching the Ministry of Manpower’s threshold limit value (TLV) of 3 mg/m³. Manual packaging was associated with ergonomic strain, where workers lifted 15–20 kg sacks repeatedly, leading to potential musculoskeletal disorders. Risk evaluation revealed that existing control measures such as natural ventilation and sporadic use of personal protective equipment (PPE) were insufficient to ensure worker safety. To reduce these hazards, the study recommends implementing engineering controls such as local exhaust ventilation and machine insulation, combined with administrative measures including job rotation, scheduled rest breaks, and regular safety training. Ensuring consistent PPE use especially heat-resistant gloves, dust masks, and ear protection can further mitigate residual risks. Overall, the application of the HIRARC framework at Kopi Lanange Jagad demonstrates its effectiveness as a low-cost and practical tool for identifying, prioritizing, and managing occupational hazards in small-scale coffee industries. Implementation of the proposed control strategies is projected to reduce total workplace risk by 35–40%, improving both worker well-being and operational productivity.
