Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of integrating local ethnomathematics based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) on students’ mathematical critical thinking skills. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a non-equivalent control group design. The study was conducted at SMA Negeri 3 Maros, involving 54 eleventh-grade students divided into an experimental class (27 students) and a control class (27 students). The experimental class received mathematics instruction through the integration of local ethnomathematics supported by an AI-based adaptive learning system, while the control class was taught using conventional methods. Data were collected using a critical thinking test administered as pretest and posttest, based on indicators of analysis, evaluation, inference, and conclusion. The results revealed that the experimental class achieved a higher mean posttest score (88.40) compared to the control class (83.20). The N-Gain score of the experimental class (0.78; very high category) was also greater than that of the control class (0.68; high category). Independent samples t-test indicated a significant difference between the two groups (p < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that integrating local ethnomathematics with AI significantly enhances students’ mathematical critical thinking skills and provides an innovative, contextual, and adaptive learning alternative.

Abstract

This study investigated the role of local wisdom–based school culture in improving students’ discipline and learning motivation. The research aimed to identify the forms of local cultural values implemented in the school, examine strategies used in applying those values, and analyze their impact on students’ academic behavior. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach to explore the phenomenon naturally and understand the meaning behind the actions and experiences of the participants. Data were collected through observations of school cultural activities, in-depth interviews with the principal, five teachers, and ten students, and documentation of school records and relevant programs. The findings revealed that the school implemented several forms of Bugis local wisdom, including the values of siri’ na pacce, mutual cooperation (massiddeng), politeness through greeting habits, religious routines, and the use of local language as a cultural preservation approach. These values were integrated through exemplary leadership, structured habituation, curriculum and extracurricular programs, and collaboration with parents and the community. The results indicated a significant improvement in student discipline, demonstrated by a decrease in rule violations and an increase in responsibility and punctuality. Additionally, students’ learning motivation increased due to a positive school climate, emotional bonding with the school, and cultural identity pride. The study concluded that school culture based on local wisdom served as an effective strategy for character building and enhancing academic motivation, and it is recommended to be implemented sustainably in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of artificial intelligence (AI)–based digital learning in developing the critical thinking skills and digital literacy of eighth grade students at SMAN 3 Maros. The research employed a quantitative approach using a quasi experimental nonequivalent control group pretest posttest design. The research sample consisted of 50 students, with 25 students from Class VIII C assigned to the experimental group and 25 students from Class VIII B assigned to the control group. The research instruments included a critical thinking skills test and a digital literacy assessment. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques. The results indicate that the experimental group experienced a greater improvement in critical thinking skills and digital literacy compared to the control group. The mean critical thinking score of the experimental group increased from 39.76 to 85.08, while the control group increased from 40.36 to 80.36. Similarly, the digital literacy score of the experimental group increased from 36.96 to 82.88, whereas the control group increased from 37.04 to 79.32. These findings confirm that AI based digital learning is effective in enhancing students’ reasoning quality and digital literacy in a more consistent and meaningful manner

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based learning on the improvement of literacy skills among eighth-grade students at SMP PGRI, Maros Regency, in the Indonesian language subject. The research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research population consisted of all eighth-grade students, who were entirely included as the sample through a total sampling technique, totaling 32 students (17 females and 15 males). The research instrument was a literacy skills test administered before and after the AI-based learning intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, a paired sample t-test, and normalized gain (N-Gain) analysis. The results indicated a significant increase in students’ literacy scores from pretest to posttest. The normality test results confirmed that the data were normally distributed, thus meeting the assumptions for parametric analysis. The paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of p < 0.05, indicating a statistically significant effect of AI-based learning on students’ literacy skills. Furthermore, the N-Gain value fell within the moderate to high category, demonstrating the effectiveness of AI-based learning in optimizing the improvement of students’ literacy skills. It can be concluded that AI-based learning is effective in enhancing junior secondary school students’ literacy skills and has strong potential as an innovative instructional strategy to support educational transformation in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of implementing the Deep Learning approach in digital learning on students’ mathematical literacy skills. The study employed a quantitative approach using a one-group experimental design with a one-group pretest–posttest model. The research subjects consisted of all eighth-grade students of SMA PGRI Tamalate, totaling 30 students. The learning process was conducted in mathematics instruction by applying the Deep Learning approach integrated into digital learning. The research instrument was a mathematical literacy test administered before and after the intervention. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The prerequisite analysis was conducted through a normality test, while hypothesis testing employed a paired sample t-test. The results indicated an improvement in students’ mathematical literacy skills from a low category in the pretest to a high category in the posttest. The paired sample t-test results revealed a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, with a significance value of less than 0.05. The N-Gain value was classified as high, indicating that the implementation of the Deep Learning approach in digital learning was effective in improving students’ mathematical literacy skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of utilizing Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in the digitalization of learning on improving the digital literacy of Grade X students in the Computer and Network Engineering (TKJ) program at SMK Maros. The research employed a quantitative approach with an experimental method using a pre-experimental design, specifically a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research population consisted of all Grade X TKJ students totaling 42 individuals, who were simultaneously used as the research sample through a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a digital literacy test and observations of the learning process. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques. The results indicate that the utilization of AI technology in digital learning has a significant effect on improving students’ digital literacy. This is evidenced by an increase in the mean digital literacy scores from the pretest to the posttest, as well as the results of the paired sample t-test, which showed a significance value of less than 0.05. In addition, observational findings revealed increased student engagement, participation, and positive attitudes during AI-based learning activities. Therefore, it can be concluded that AI-based digital learning is effective in enhancing students’ digital literacy and is relevant for implementation in schools to support students’ readiness in facing the challenges of the digital era.

Abstract

One of the problems faced in preventing diseases that can be prevented by immunization is the low coverage of complete basic immunization. The government's program in an effort to improve children's health is that before the child is one year old, basic immunization should be given completely according to a high and even schedule. In this condition, it is expected that the immune system can be formed optimally so that the impacts caused can be minimized. The purpose of this counseling activity is to increase public knowledge and awareness about the importance of complete basic immunization in preventing infectious diseases, especially Diseases That Can Be Prevented by Immunization (PD3I) so that children as the nation's successors can live healthy lives free from pain, disability and even death. The method used is lectures and discussions. This activity was carried out in the Mandai Health Center Work Area, Maros Regency with 25 participants. From the results of the counseling, there was an increase in the knowledge and understanding of mothers so that it is hoped that there will be awareness and willingness to bring their children to get immunizations according to the schedule and their age on time. This counseling activity can be carried out continuously in all Health Center work areas with government support.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) was carried out in Binaga Sangkara Village, Maros Regency, with the aim of increasing community knowledge about the health benefits of seaweed and encouraging its local utilization. The background of this activity is based on the global rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) due to poor dietary habits, as well as the underutilization of seaweed among coastal communities as a functional food source. The program included nutrition education, socialization of seaweed benefits, and training in seaweed-based food processing. Evaluation results showed a significant improvement in participants' knowledge, with those in the high-knowledge category increasing from 20% to 60% after the program. Additionally, there was a growing interest among residents in developing seaweed products independently. This activity demonstrates that an educative-participative approach can effectively raise nutritional awareness and empower coastal communities through the sustainable use of local resources.

Abstract

Socialization and education about the dangers of drug abuse among adolescents are essential to building a drug-free generation, considering that high school students play a critical role in shaping the nation’s future. Drug abuse not only causes health problems but also has long-term social, economic, and legal impacts. This community service activity was conducted at SMA N 2 Sidrap, involving 30 students aged 16–17 years. The purpose was to increase awareness and knowledge about the definition, classification, risks, and prevention of drug abuse. The program began with a pre-test, followed by an interactive lecture using PowerPoint slides and animated videos to make the material more engaging. Students were actively involved through discussions, case analysis, and a Q&A session. A post-test was administered to assess knowledge improvement. Results indicated a significant increase in understanding: definition (86.7% to 93.3%), classification (83.3% to 93.3%), impact (80% to 96.7%), and prevention (90% to 100%). The use of multimedia and interactive delivery proved effective in maintaining attention and promoting active learning. Beyond immediate knowledge gains, the activity fostered critical thinking and empowered students to act as peer educators, spreading anti-drug messages in their communities. This approach can serve as a sustainable model for other schools, contributing to broader efforts in reducing drug abuse prevalence among youth and supporting the creation of a healthy, resilient, and informed generation.

Abstract

This experimental study aimed to investigate the effect of digitalized learning based on numeracy literacy through the ELPSA (Experience, Language, Pictures, Symbols, Application) approach on the mathematical conceptual understanding of students at SLB Negeri 2 Makassar. The study population consisted of all students enrolled in SLB Negeri 2 Makassar, and a sample of 65 students was selected using probability sampling. The sample included students with visual impairments, hearing impairments, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism. Data were collected using instruments that measured numeracy literacy skills, conceptual understanding, and an observation sheet to assess the implementation of the ELPSA approach. Data analysis employed descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that the integration of digitalized learning based on numeracy literacy through the ELPSA approach had a positive impact on students’ numeracy literacy and mathematical conceptual understanding. Descriptive results indicated an increase in the mean scores from pretest to posttest in both numeracy literacy and conceptual understanding, although both remained within the medium category. Inferential analysis further showed that digitalized learning based on numeracy literacy (X) directly influenced mathematical conceptual understanding (Y) with a path coefficient of 0.42 (p < 0.05). Additionally, digitalized learning significantly influenced the ELPSA approach (Z) with a coefficient of 0.51 (p < 0.05), and the ELPSA approach (Z) significantly affected mathematical conceptual understanding (Y) with a coefficient of 0.46 (p < 0.05).
