Abstract

This research focuses on the socio-cultural transformation of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama’ (NU) communities in the prismatic communities of East Java (i.e., Jember, Bondowoso, and Lumajang). This condition cannot be separated from transforming various sectors in people’s lives that make it a prismatic (transitional) society. Therefore, this research seeks to find and understand the basic framework for the socio-cultural transformation of Muhammadiyah and NU communities in society. From the unit of analysis, this study uses a qualitative approach with ethnographic research, while the data collection techniques use in-depth interviews, participatory observations, field notes, and documentation. This research uses interactive data analysis by Miles, Huberman, and Saldana. This research finds that Muhammadiyah and NU communities have relatively different characteristics. In these three districts, members of Muhammadiyah and NU tend to be stagnant and unaffected by their various oppositional organizational doctrines. However, their socio-cultural transformation occurs triggered by external and internal factors dialectically related to themselves. The implication is that the modernist corporate identity attached to Muhammadiyah and the traditional community identity to NU is relatively irrelevant, especially when there is a progressive and alternating socio-cultural transformation between the two communities.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of appreciating Islamic values in fostering an organizational culture at the Miftahul Ulum Suren Islamic Boarding School (PMUS) Jember, especially in implementing and integrating Islamic values. This study uses adaptive culture theory with qualitative research methods and phenomenological types. The research participants were three Kiai and ustadz in Islamic boarding schools. The interview technique was used to dig up complete data. Data analysis was carried out by data reduction procedures, presentation, and interpretation. This study finds that the institutional culture of pesantren is born out of the theological and philosophical values of the Kiai, which are lived by giving examples (role models), guidance, teaching, training, or using the experiences of the pesantren residents themselves. This culture has implications for the achievements of the pesantren, including the achievement of the prophetic tasks of the pesantren.

Abstract

This study intends to investigate how Adversity Quotient (AQ) or Intelligence in Facing Student Obstacles might be formed through online learning at PTKIs, the Private University in Malang and the Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. The COVID-19 epidemic, which compelled universities to adapt to online learning, caused alterations in learning patterns at PTKI, which served as the foundation for this study. The study aimed to explore the Adversity Quotient among students, focusing on four core dimensions: Control, Ownership, Reach, and Endurance. Additionally, the study examined four dimensions pertinent to online learning: Student Performance, Technology, Lecturer, and Self-Regulation. As a result, it is clear that the responders at the State University of Malang have performed admirably, are able to overcome obstacles, and are able to maximize the potential that rises daily. In contrast to the low scores of University "X" Malang respondents. As long as life proceeds pretty smoothly, the individual is often responsible for navigating it. However, the individual may experience more setbacks or become disheartened by the accumulation of life's difficulties In addition to offering recommendations for the future development of online learning, it is envisaged that this research will give an overview of how online learning at PTKI can affect students' AQ.
