Abstract

In the ideal level, Islamic education must touch on 3 (three) aspects. "Knowing" realm understanding value Islamic religion, "doing" realm practicing the values Islamic religion, "being" go through a period of life following values Islamic religion. However, the development of the 21-st Century, which provides open access to all information from cyberspace, has not been fully implemented in the field of Islamic education so that it gives a challenge for the world of Islamic education in implementing the concept of "being" optimally in the process of learning. This article aims to describe and analyze the development of the Islamic education curriculum through 3 (three) approaches: multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary. This article uses a qualitative approach to the type of literature study research. A literature study that is in line with the research theme leads this research to the conclusion. First, the Common Core State Standards (Kurikulum Inti) emerge as a form of balance standardization between the aspects of ideal learning and skills needs in the 21st-century. Second, the difference between multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary approaches lies in the "starting point" of each approach. Multidisciplinary emerge as the form of concepts and skills desired by each discipline (explicitly), interdisciplinary in the form of shared concepts and skills, as long as a scientific discipline (implicitly) and transdisciplinary in the form of real reality in life where students being both subject and object in gaining that knowledge. Third, the similarity between multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary approaches lies to balance between accountability, relevance, and development of the 21st-century; all three are integral parts of the Core Curriculum; all three involve more than one scientific discipline in discussing a theme/issue and; all three have aspects of evaluation/assessment during the learning process.

Abstract

This research focused on the collaboration-convergence construction of Freire’s liberating education and Islamic education systems. These two systems are integrated into a single dimension of education that has spiritual roots. Therefore, this research tries to analyze Paulo Freire’s educational thinking, which is elaborated, collaborated, converged, and integrated with Islamic education’s theological and philisophical values. This research approach uses a qualitative type of literature study, so it tended to use documentation techniques in collecting its data. The data in this research were analyzed using the interactive analysis of Miles, Hubermann and Saldana. With this method, this research can be more detailed and comprehensive to understand and interpret Freire’s liberation education thinking and Islamic education. This research finds that Freire's education system has an axiological basis of secular humanism that can be collaborated and converged with the values of transcendental humanism in Islamic education. From this collaboration-convergence process, an education system has been created. It has an ontological basis and is integrated with theological values. It is also an axiological dimension of trancendental humanism. This education system has a mission to realize transcendental humanism in the educational process so that this system can be referred to as participatory-trancendental education.

Abstract

Riset ini memfokuskan pada respon kelembagaan pesantren dalam membangun kesesuaian mutu kependidikan dengan perkembangan kebutuhan masyarakat. Di dalamnya terdapat fenomena upaya membangun mutu kependidikan pesantren di dalam bingkai Total Quality Management (TQM). Oleh karenanya, riset ini menggunakan pendekatan penelitian kualitatif untuk mendeskripsikan kerangka dasar tata kelola mutu pendidikan pesantren. Data riset ini diperoleh dari sumber-sumber kepustakaan yang dianalisis menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif analitis. Riset ini menemukan bahwa mutu pendidikan pesantren perlu disesuaikan dengan laju perkembangan kebutuhan masyarakat secara terus menerus. Pola ini menjadikan pucuk pimpinan (kiai) berada di bawah yang menjadi melayani pimpinan yang berada di level menengah; dan pimpinan menengah juga melayani ustadz/ustadzah, dan ustadz/ustadzah harus melayani kebutuhan santrinya. Bahkan, pesantren perlu melakukan perbaikan berkesinambungan malalui siklus PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) yang dikenal dengan lingkaran Deming. Siklus ini terdiri dari langkah-langkah perencanaan, pelaksanaan rencana, pemeriksaan hasil pelaksanaan rencana, dan tindakan korektif terhadap hasil yang diperoleh.

Abstract

This research is developed on the basis of analytical construction focusing on two ideologies in Islam, namely Sunni, and Shi’ite. These two mainstreams of school of thoughts often create social conflict in the region of Puger. This research attempts to offer practical solutions. To explore deep understanding, a phenomenological approach involves eight participants, consisting of religious leaders, government officials, and community leaders. An in-depth interviews is used for the main data collection, such as the interview protocol instrument. All data are analyzed by data reduction theory, starting with identifying, determining, and narrating. This study has found that there are some factors trigger the conflict between two groups in the region of Puger including religious sect differences, rivalry existence in pesantren (Islamic boarding school), provocateurs, and allegations of discrimination against particular ideologies. Additionally, this study also affirms that there are other ideologies involved in this conflict. This study suggests intensive communication among the communities in the region of Puger, Jember, East Java, could potentially reduce the issues. Abstract

Through transformational leadership, pesantren are able to make institutional changes to achieve success. Because this leadership style can build a strong organizational culture for the effectiveness of Islamic education in pesantren. Therefore, KHMA in PNIA is very effective in carrying out the construction of pesantren culture and shapes the behavior of all pesantren human resources. Therefore, this research uses a qualitative approach with a phenomenological type; which aims to identify and analyze the kiai's transformational leadership style in building an organizational culture in pesantren. The theoretical framework used to analyze the dynamics of the kiai's leadership is the paradigm of Bass & Riggio. He divided the four dimensions of transformational leadership, i.e: idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual motivation, and individual consideration. This research found KHMA constructs pesantren culture by taking from the thoughts of ulama' salaf which are contained in the book of salaf -which is commonly called Kitab Kuning. On the one hand, the effectiveness of KHMA's self-leadership in PNIA is also inseparable from the normative doctrinal values of Islam, so that the kiai's leadership style is based on Islamic values. The implication is that the construction of organizational culture ranging from a philosophical framework to the practical values of pesantren needs to be bound by the basis of social-religious transformation. Abstract

Abstract Pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) has been continuously aligning its educational system with the needs of society and the times. The development of pesantren is inseparable from the role of kiai in carrying out the institutional transformation. This study focuses on transformational leadership of the kiai in developing the pesantren institution. The results of this study indicate that the concept of developing pesantren is transcultural with the principle of "accepting a new good culture and preserving the old one that is still relevant", based on the vision and mission, directed at an integrative education system which combines the mind and heart traditions using rational domain and spirituality in order to achieve worldly (profanistic) and ukhrawi (sacralistic) goals; transformational leadership styles of a kiai include idealized influence behavior, inspirational inspiration, intellectual stimulation, individual consideration, and individual spiritual greatness; and the implications of transformational leadership include two dimensions, namely the human resources and institutional resources. Therefore, this leadership can be said to be prophetic transformational leadership with the addition of individual spiritual greatness (Five I'S). Pengembangan pesantren tidak terlepas dari peran kiai dalam melakukan transformasi kelembagaan. Penelitian ini memfokuskan pada kepemimpinan transformasional kiai dalam mengembangkan kelembagaan pesantren. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa konsep pengembangan pesantren bersifat transkultural dengan prinsip “menerima budaya baru yang baik dan melestarikan budaya lama yang masih relevan”, berpijak pada visi dan misi, diarahkan pada sistem pendidikan integratif yang memadukan antara tradisi akal dan hati menggunakan domain rasional dan spiritualitas untuk mencapai tujuan yang bersifat duniawi (profanistik) dan ukhrawi (sakralistik); gaya kepemimpinan transformasional kiai meliputi perilaku idealized influence, inspirational inspiration, intellectual stimulation, individual consideration, dan individual spiritual greatness; dan implikasi kepemimpinan transformasional meliputi dua dimensi, yaitu dimensi sumberdaya manusia dan kelembagaan. Karenanya, kepemimpinan ini dapat dikatakan kepemimpinan transformasional profetik dengan penambahan individual spiritual greatness (Five I’S). Abstract

This research focuses on the leadership of the A’wam Council, group of young religious scholars or kyai (Lora) at the Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Pamekasan Madura Islamic Boarding School, in carrying out institutional transformation of the pesantren (traditional Islamic boarding schools). As the protector of religious-culture, Lora not only preserves the various acpects of religion such as marriage and security (by performing the rituals of tahlil, or yasinan) but also maintains public morality and good social and political relations in the community. Lora functions as the a protector of culture and religion (amanah or public trust) in order to increase the social capital of the pesantren (enriching social networks). Using the collective leadership theory by O’Neill & Berinkerhoff and a qualitative approach through observation, interviews, and documentation, this article finds that Lora leadership made use of Islamic values in transforming this institution from a traditional pesantren (salaf) to modern one (khalaf). This process was coupled with the development of an interconnective-integralist paradigm that led to a new pesantren model that not only preserves the traditional methods but also adopted new developments in contemporary thought, namely combining and integrating religious knowledge with general science Riset ini memfokuskan pada dinamika kepemimpinan Dewan A’wam –yang merupakan kumpulan kyai muda (Lora) di Pesantren Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Pamekasan Madura- dalam melakukan transfomasi kelembagaan pesantren. Sebagai pelindung budaya-agama, Lora tidak hanya memposisikan diri untuk menjaga berbagai dimensi agama seperti pernikahan dan keselamatan (tahlil, atau yasinan), namun juga menjaga moralitas budaya masyarakat serta dinamika sosial politik. Konsistensi dalam peran sebagai pelindung budaya-agama difungsikan oleh Lora untuk menumbuhkan modal sosial pesantren (amanah dan jejaring sosial). Dengan menggunakan teori kepemimpinan kolektif oleh O’Neill & Berinkerhoff dan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi, wawancara, dan dokumtasi, artikel ini menemukan bahwa kepemimpinan Lora didasarkan pada nilai-nilai religius Islam di dalam melakukan pengelolaan pesantren hingga mampu bertransformasi dari pesantren tradisional (salaf) ke modern (khalaf). Proses tersebut dirangkai dengan perkembangan paradigma interkonektif-integralis yang berimplikasi pada model pesantren yang hanya mengajarkan ilmu agama akan diganti dengan nuansa baru, yaitu memadukan dan mengintegrasikan ilmu agama dengan ilmu umum

Abstract

Sasambo Youth Education Nusa Tenggara Barat (SYE NTB) as a youth organization has played an active role in providing services and guidance in various online and offline educational activities from kindergarten-equivalent to higher education. The NTB Provincial Government has actually made efforts and paid attention to education in NTB. However, SYE NTB continues to contribute and take part in overcoming educational problems due to the Covid-19 pandemic which requires changing the learning system. SYE NTB certainly has a strong reason to continue to play a role in education issues in NTB. The purpose of this article is to find out the reasons behind SYE NTB providing educational services and also to find out the various programs held to optimize the quality of education in NTB. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method. The results of this article show that SYE NTB has a vision and mission which then encourages other NTB youths to join SYE in order to achieve the targets and goals that have been proclaimed and realized through various programs.

Abstract

Artikel ini mengurai tentang rekonstruksi paham keagamaan relasi egaliter antara laki-laki dan perempuan melalui sistem pendidikan di perguruan tinggi Kota Malang. Riset ini dilaksanakan di dua perguruan tinggi yaitu Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Maulana Malik Ibrahim dan Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) yang terus membangun pola pendidikan egaliter. Karenanya, riset ini fokus pada realitas kependidikan egaliter tersebut serta dampak pada tumbuh kembangnya paham keagamaan yang humanis, moderat, dan egaliter di tengah sivitas akademika. Dari telaah tersebut, riset ini menyimpulkan bahwa paham keagamaan tentang keperempuanan bisa tumbuh dari realitas sosial kependidikan. Munculnya sistem pendidikan tersebut dilandasi oleh nilai integratif antara dimensi realitas empirik (ayat kauniyyah) dan wahyu normatif (al-Qur’an dan al-Hadist (ayat qauliyyah)). Nilai-nilai integratif dalam sistem pendidikan tinggi inilah oleh peneliti dikatakan sebagai kaldera egaliter religius. Upaya humanis melalui pola sistem pendidikan egaliter mendorong adanya lembaga pendidikan yang bisa mengangkat harkat derajat perempuan dalam mainstreaming paham keagamaan. Bahkan ia mampu mereproduksi kultur akademik yang lebih progresif dan moderat.
