Abstract

This research is purposed to learn the vegetables farmers group’s ability class performance in Banjarbaru city according to the good vegetables cultivation guidance and farmer group ability appraisal guidance. it is also aimed to learn about the influencing farmer group performance class factor and also about the problem which is handled by vegetables farmers group in Banjarbaru. Based on the result of data counting and analysis, it is concluded that 1)The vegetables farmers group’s ability class performance in Banjarbaru shows that all farmers group ability on vegetables cultivation is not classified as a firstrate, whereas the ability class is classified as advance (80%) and high (20%). 2) The influencing factor the vegetables farmers group’s ability in Banjarbaru consist of: Cultivation factor and farmers group ability movements. 3) Farmers group’s problem is the limitation of financial capital, hard to have a meeting, limited field, weather condition, less of production facilities, no note and documentation of farmering, pesticides are not according to SOP, not yet use a tested and legal bio-pesticides, and also there is no clear history of filed for one year.

Abstract

Agricultural development has experienced a rapid shift from traditional to modemagriculture. Some important factors are considered to develop modem agriculture, include improvements oteccess to markets and advanced technology, economic stability, and government intervention. The research identifies the role of agricultural extension and the problems in agricultural machinery app/Jcationin Desa Bangkal, Kecamatan Cempaka, HanJarbaru. I he study finds that the education role is high, which mean that the extension can facilitate the learning process to meet farmer satisfaction .. The role of dissemination, facilitation, and consultation are also cc;3tegonzed as high. On the other hand, the role of supervision, monitoring and evaluation are categorized as medium. Thus, this problem should be tackled downto optimize the extension role.

Abstract

The study is aimed to describe the condition of farmers livelihood before and after land conversion as well as knowing its socio-economic impact. It is a qualitative study, where respondents were purposively selected by using snowball sampling. The results show that the change of farmers’ income before and after land conversion is varied – increase, decrease or no change. Housing and assets ownership has not changed much both before and after the conversion. Health condition is also relatively stable. Land conversion has social and economic impacts as farmers should shift and diversificate their livelihoods on agriculture and non-agriculture sector. The change on household income is depending on the type of new business established. Land conversion also has environmental effect since land conversion for residential area is followed by river backfill which create water flow disturbance.

Abstract

The succeed of a cooperative in achieving the goals is highly relied on the members activities, whether they can cooperate, have work spirit, and obeying all rules and guidance decided on member meeting. The purpose of joining the cooperative is to achieve common goal, that is income increase Thus, the increase of members' income should become the cooperative concern. The study is aimed to: (1) describe the micro finance institution on the cooperative; (2) explore the role of micro finance institution in increasing the farming income; and (3) identify the obstacles faced by the micro finance. The respondents involved were 60 members and non-member of Koperasi Pertanian Mitra Usaha Tani, Kelurahan Landasan Ulin Utara, Kecamatan Liang Anggang, Kata Banjarbaru, Kalimantan Selatan. As located in the middle of agricultural area, the cooperative provides easy credit access to the farmers in nearby area. The credit aid has increased the members' income signifi cantly compared to the non-members'. However, several problems should be settled include limited human resources to manage the cooperative, financial limitation, delay of credit payment, and the work spirit decrease among to committees
