Abstract

Generalization is a feature that students can think mathematically. Teachers can develop teaching materials in the form of textbooks to facilitate generalization abilities. This study was the developmental stage of ADDIE model, namely the implementation and evaluation. The study produced a textbook for 8th grade even semester which was oriented to students' mathematical generalization skills. The textbook integrating a realistic mathematics education approach contained five principles including phenomenological exploration, bridging by vertical instruments, pupils’ own constructions and productions, interactivity, and intertwining. The flow of activities provided more than one problem context, identifying similarities in patterns or strategies to draw conclusions related to the material as well as modeling exercises to facilitate students' mathematical generalization abilities. Based on the results of textbook implementation involving 30 8th grade students from one of a state junior high school in Yogyakarta, the percentage of students in good category met the minimum point of 75%, which reached 93.33%.

Abstract

Information Technology really supports the teaching and learning process in mathematics learning, but in reality there are still very few teachers who use ICT in learning activities, even though if teachers use ICT in the learning process it can help students and teachers in learning mathematics. This research aims to determine the effect of multimedia mathematics learning assisted by the Geogebra application on students' conceptual understanding of exponential and logarithmic function material. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D), referring to the ADDIE development model. The subject of this research was carried out at SMA Negeri 1 SILIMAKUTA class X-3. The instruments used are student online response questionnaires, teacher online response questionnaires. Based on the results of testing the development of teaching materials assisted by Geogebra in learning exponential and logarithmic functions, from all aspects of statements from student response questionnaires and teacher responses, the average response percentage was 89.7%. Thus, the high percentage of student responses proves that the development of mathematics learning media assisted by Geogebra can increase students' understanding of concepts and can be used effectively and practically as an additional reference for mathematics learning media, especially material on exponential and logarithmic functions. The implication is that if every lesson uses the right media, it will increase students' learning motivation and improve their learning achievement.

Abstract

One of the tribes in North Sumatra Province that has a wide variety of art is the Deli Malays, especially the Songket motifs. Songket is a type of traditional Indonesian weaving that should be preserved to maintain Indonesia’s wealth. The motifs in the Malay Deli Songket can be analyzed because of its symmetrical pattern. In this study, the author developed the Malay Deli Songket motif based on the concept of the symmetry group. The motif development was carried out with the Matlab program based on the frieze group pattern and the crystallography group pattern. The Frieze pattern, often called the Frieze Group, is a symmetry group created from one-way translation, forming a linear pattern that repeats one way. The crystallography group has 17 crystallographic patterns formed by a specific transformation from each type of unit lattice. Through the development of motifs, 6 new Songket motifs were obtained based on the Frieze pattern in 11 observed Malay Deli Songket motifs, namely the Moon Orchid motif, the Orchid motif, the Balong Ayam motif, the Coffee Flowers motif, the Tobacco Leaves 1 and 2 motifs, the Corn motif, the Paddy motif, the Tampuk Manggis motif, the Tobacco motif, and the Ulam Raja motif. In 4 previously observed Malay Deli Songket motifs, 11 new Songket motifs were obtained for crystallography patterns: the Deli Tobacco Leaves motif, the Coffee motif, the Tampuk Gelugor motif, and the Undang Kupu-Kupu motif.

Abstract

This systematic literature review examines the integration of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) with Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) in science education, focusing on mapping empirical findings, implementation patterns, and research gaps that have not been widely studied. This study aims to identify the learning outcome variables measured, describe the characteristics of PjBL–SSI implementation, and reveal the main challenges and limitations of previous studies. Using PRISMA guidelines, 6 peer-reviewed journal articles (n = 6) published between 2020 and 2025 were analyzed. These articles covered various educational levels, from elementary school to higher education, with diverse research designs. The results of the study show that the integration of PjBL with SSI consistently has a positive impact on students' critical thinking, problem-solving, science literacy, digital literacy, and ethical awareness, especially through involvement in real-issue-based projects that require multidimensional analysis and value-based decision-making. However, this study also identified a number of key challenges, namely the limited readiness of teachers in designing SSI-based projects, the lack of standardized learning resources and assessment tools, and the dominance of research focus on the cognitive domain. Another important finding shows that the affective, social, and reflective aspects of students have received relatively little attention in previous studies, thus opening up opportunities for further research. Overall, this review provides a conceptual contribution by presenting a structured synthesis of the characteristics, impacts, and challenges of PjBL–SSI integration, as well as a practical contribution as a reference for educators and curriculum developers in designing contextual, relevant, and socially responsible science learning.
