This study aims to explain the ability of the Ikhwanul Muslimin in mobilizing and framing their da’wah movement. The research was conducted by analyzing the concept of Hasan al-Banna’s da’wah movement and its impact on the existence of the Ikhwanul Muslimin’s da’wah movement. This study uses a qualitative method with a Social Movement Theory approach. This research seeks to explain the ability of the IM in mobilizing and framing its da’wah movement to maintain its existence against various resistances. The results of this study indicate that three important factors have caused the IM to maintain its existence until now, namely Internal Organizational Solidity, External Community Support, and the Moderation of the Ikhwanul Muslimin. With these three factors, the IM has become a modern Islamic organization that can withstand various pressures both from within the country and from outsiders.

Abstract

Accurately translating the messages embedded in Quranic verses into the target language is of paramount importance. Although numerous studies have examined translation qualities in Quranic translations, there is limited research exploring the effectiveness of an imitation technique in enhancing students' translation skills for Quranic verses into Indonesian. This qualitative descriptive study aims to investigate the efficacy of imitating sentence patterns through the utilization of drill techniques in teaching Arabic-to-Indonesian translation. The study involved a total of 18 students who underwent a pre-treatment translation test and a post-treatment test. The primary focus of the translation assessment centered on accuracy. The findings unveiled that the implementation of this method significantly improved students' translation skills, particularly in terms of accuracy. Not only did it enable students to effectively imitate patterns, but it also fostered creativity by encouraging variations within these patterns while upholding accuracy in conveying the intended meanings from Arabic to Indonesian. The students exhibited enhanced translation quality following the treatment, thus highlighting the positive impact of employing the imitating sentence patterns method. This approach is especially well-suited for beginners as it facilitates the comprehension of fundamental sentence patterns, expands vocabulary, and enhances translation proficiency. When employing this method, it is crucial to consider factors such as using analogous sentence patterns in both languages, avoiding cultural terminology in examples, ensuring literal translations of sentence patterns, and permitting flexibility for variations.

Abstract

This research focuses on the typology of mosques in the Bandung area, Indonesia. Due to its close ties to Islam, research on mosque typology is still limited. This mosque holds significant value within the Muslim community. This research was conducted in Greater Bandung: Bandung City, Cimahi City, Bandung Regency, West Bandung Regency, and Sumedang Regency. This study employed qualitative methods (Creswell, 2008) with descriptive research characteristics. Using the Bandung Grand Mosque as a reference, as suggested in previous studies, the results show that the dome-shaped roof element is a dominant feature replicated by mosques in Greater Bandung. Other elements, such as columns, openings, and roof ornamentation, are also replicated by several research subjects, but to a lesser extent. This research provides a broader overview of the area, with a more diverse analysis of factors such as time, socio-cultural, and technological aspects.

Abstract

In religious conversations, syncretism is often perceived negatively even though it is actually a healthy process. One form of syncretism that emerged in Indonesia is the religion of Tridharma which consists of Buddhism, Confucianism, and Daoism. This paper discusses syncretism in the religion of Tridharma in Indonesia. Using a historical approach during the 1970s, this paper is a literature study of two magazines affiliated with the religion of Tridharma, namely the Hikmah Tridharma magazine and the Tjahaja Tri-Dharma magazine. This paper rethinks the concept of syncretism as a dirty word, or at least negative form, to one of neutrality. Considering religion as dynamic, syncretism in the religion of Tridharma or Sam Kauw has been a historical process since the Ming dynasty in Mainland China. The Hikmah Tridharma magazine and the Tjahaja Tri-Dharma magazine during the 1970s illustrate how syncretism in the body of Tridharma religion occurs not only between Buddism, Confucianism, and Daoism but also with Hinduism and group of theosophy. As one element of the dynamics of religious belief, the politics of recognition is important. In Indonesia, the state gave a different attitude to Chinese religions or all things Chinese-affiliated in general during the New Order era, and the era of transition to reform, Gus Dur. This then triggered contestation between Chinese religions themselves in Indonesia, especially between the religion of Tridharma and Confucianism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the needs for developing the Merdeka Curriculum in the subject of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) and Character, based on local wisdom at the senior high school level, with a focus on the cultural context of West Java communities. The background of this research lies in the predominance of textual and normative approaches in PAI instruction, which have not fully accommodated local values such as religious traditions, regional languages, and living cultural practices within society. Using a mixed-methods approach with a concurrent triangulation design, data were collected through questionnaires and interviews involving 373 students and 191 PAI teachers from five public senior high schools in West Java. The findings indicate that more than 70% of respondents support the integration of local wisdom values into the PAI curriculum. The most prominent aspects include the need for contextual learning guidelines, the scarcity of locally relevant textbooks, and the importance of using regional languages in delivering religious materials. The study concludes that developing a PAI curriculum adaptive to local cultural contexts is not only crucial for enhancing the relevance of learning but also strategic in shaping an inclusive, moderate religious identity rooted in students’ social realities. The results of this needs analysis are expected to serve as both a conceptual and practical foundation for designing a PAI curriculum that is contextual and responsive to the dynamics of Indonesia’s multicultural society.
