Abstract

Health check-ups play an important role in maintaining and improving the health of individuals, especially in rural communities such as Terong Tawah Village. These health checks are not only to diagnose diseases, but also to prevent diseases and improve overall health. The purpose of this activity is to provide an understanding of the importance of health checks for residents in Terong Tawah Village as a Vital Investment in Public Health. The method used in the implementation of this activity is a collaboration between lecturers and students of Politeknik Medica Farma Husada Mataram with Community Health Centre (CHC) officers who can increase the effectiveness of health checks in Terong Tawah Village, Labuapi District, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara in January 2024. Blood pressure and blood sugar checks play an important role in maintaining good health, preventing chronic diseases, and improving the overall well-being of the community. By emphasizing the importance of monitoring these vital signs, individuals can take proactive steps to achieve better health outcomes, while community-wide screening initiatives can have a positive impact on public health. Prioritizing regular check-ups for blood pressure and blood sugar is crucial to promoting a healthier society. As such, increasing public awareness of blood pressure and blood sugar levels is critical to improving overall health and well-being. Education, early detection, and proactive management are key components in the fight against hypertension, diabetes, and their associated complications.

Abstract

One form of activity in health promotion is in the form of socialization that we do. These activities strengthen the skills and abilities of individuals to take action, and the capacity of groups or communities to act collectively to exercise control over the determinants of health. Socialization activities strengthen the skills and abilities of individuals to take action, and the capacity of groups or communities to act collectively to exercise control over the determinants of health. This activity uses lecture, discussion and question and answer methods with residents. The location of the activity was Persil Village, Central Lombok with 25 participants and accompanied by 3 lecturers and 5 students. The results of our socialization show that local residents need solutions to health problems and hope that Hydrogen Rich Water (AKH) is a solution to the disease problems that they and their families are currently facing. The knowledge of the local community is still categorized as low and requires special attention from the local government and stakeholders. Some residents who participated in the activity had a history of their own diseases, such as gastritis, cholesterol, high blood pressure, allergies and some of their families also had a history of certain diseases, such as kidney stones, diabetes, stroke, cancer and so on. Persil villagers gained knowledge about health, especially the differences in various kinds of water consumed daily. The villagers originally thought that all water is the same, but after we provided information about water, the villagers became more understanding and more selective about the drinks they consume daily.

Abstract

Efforts to foster environmental awareness through environmental education will contribute greatly to preventing further environmental damage and even repairing damage that has already occurred. One approach model that can be developed is the Eco-Pesantren education. Study on the Application of Eco-Pesantren Program in environmental management is carried out at Islamic boarding schools in West Lombok Regency. This study aims to determine the implementation of the Eco-Pesantren program in Islamic boarding schools in West Lombok Regency towards environmental attitudes using the SWOT analysis method. This research was conducted in January to March 2017. Data collection techniques were carried out using data triangulation techniques (observation, interviews and questionnaires). Interviews were conducted using Snowball Sampling and questionnaires were conducted by taking 10% students at each pesantren. Based on the calculation, the percentage obtained for the development of environmentally friendly boarding school policy is 65%. For the development of an Islamic-based environmental curriculum by 32%. Development of natural curricular extra curricular based on 45%. Development of facilities and infrastructure supporting boarding schools by 33%. Based on the criteria for measuring attitudes obtained values> 60% -96%.

Abstract

Pineapple leaf is a waste product of pineapple cultivation which may leads to environmental issues. Pineapple leaf fibre (PALF) is an important natural fibre with high cellulose content that exhibits high mechanical properties which is high specific strength and stiffness which may vary for each cultivar. Besides, isolation of cellulose from lignocellulosic fibre become more crucial. In this study, isolation of cellulose were undergo by alkaline treatment In that order, concentration of NaOH 0.5% at 121oC for 60 min and bleaching teatment using NaClO 10% at 121oC for 30. The PALF and treated fiber were characterized using Tensilon, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Fourier Transmission Infrared Spectroscopy. Based on results, 5%  NaOH (60 min) and bleaching process by using 10% NaClO (30 min) in autoclave succeed to remove pektin, lignin, and unwanted components. The surface morphology showed high surface area, however still remaining small amaount of pektin and lignin was confirmed from FTIR and SEM images.

Abstract

Banana peels are often considered waste despite being rich in bioactive compounds with potential as natural antioxidants. This study aimed to evaluate the antioxidant activity of an ethanol extract combination of Cavendis banana peel (Musa acuminata) and Kepok banana peel (Musa paradisiaca) using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) method. The extraction process was conducted using 96% ethanol maceration, yielding an extraction efficiency of 9.13%. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids/terpenoids in the extract. Antioxidant activity was assessed through the DPPH method, resulting in an IC50 value of 6.47 ppm and an AAI value of 5.40, classified as very strong antioxidants. These results are comparable to the positive control (Vitamin C), which had an IC50 value of 6.29 ppm and an AAI value of 5.56. The findings suggest that the ethanol extract combination of Cavendis and Kepok banana peels has significant potential as a natural antioxidant source applicable in the food, pharmaceutical, and cosmetic industries. Recommendations for future research include optimization of extraction methods, isolation of key active compounds, in vivo testing, and functional product formulation development to maximize the extract's potential.

Abstract

Background: Industri farmasi terus berkembang seiring dengan meningkatnya kebutuhan masyarakat akan produk kesehatan yang inovatif dan berkualitas. Kewirausahaan di bidang farmasi atau Farmapreneur menjadi peluang besar bagi apoteker dan pelaku usaha untuk menciptakan produk yang tidak hanya memenuhi standar kesehatan, tetapi juga memiliki daya saing tinggi di pasar. Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan edukasi dan pelatihan kepada calon wirausahawan farmasi mengenai strategi inovasi produk, manajemen bisnis, serta regulasi yang harus dipatuhi dalam industri farmasi. Metode: Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini meliputi presentasi, group discussion, dan pendampingan intensif kepada peserta dalam merancang dan mengembangkan produk farmasi berbasis inovasi. Materi yang diberikan mencakup formulasi produk, analisis pasar, strategi pemasaran digital, serta aspek hukum dan perizinan. Hasil: Hasil dari kegiatan ini menunjukkan bahwa peserta memiliki pemahaman yang lebih baik tentang proses pengembangan bisnis farmasi yang berkelanjutan dan berdaya saing, rata-rata skor post-test meningkat menjadi 82,6. Beberapa peserta berhasil merancang prototipe produk yang berpotensi dikembangkan lebih lanjut untuk masuk ke pasar. Kesimpulan: Dengan adanya program ini, diharapkan semakin banyak farmapreneur yang mampu menciptakan produk farmasi inovatif yang sesuai dengan kebutuhan masyarakat dan regulasi yang berlaku. Program ini juga berkontribusi dalam meningkatkan kemandirian ekonomi serta memperkuat ekosistem bisnis farmasi di Indonesia.

Abstract

Banana peels, often considered agricultural waste, are rich in bioactive compounds with significant antioxidant potential. This study evaluates the antioxidant activity of a combined ethanol extract from Cavendis (Musa acuminata) and Kepok (Musa paradisiaca) banana peels using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) assay. The extraction was performed via maceration with 96% ethanol, yielding 9.13%. Phytochemical analysis identified key compounds including flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids/terpenoids, which are known to exhibit antioxidant properties. The extract demonstrated strong radical scavenging activity with an IC50 of 6.47 ppm and an Antioxidant Activity Index (AAI) of 5.40, comparable to Vitamin C (IC50 = 6.29 ppm; AAI = 5.56). These results indicate a synergistic effect from combining the two banana peel varieties, enhancing antioxidant efficacy beyond that reported for individual peels. This study supports the potential use of Cavendis and Kepok banana peel extracts as sustainable natural antioxidants for application in food preservation, nutraceuticals, and cosmetics. Future work should focus on optimizing extraction methods, detailed phytochemical profiling, stability assessment, and in vivo validation to advance product development and maximize health benefits.

Abstract

Inflamasi merupakan respon tubuh terhadap kerusakan jaringan yang disebabkan oleh trauma fisik, zat kimia dan zat mikrobiologi. Tanaman yang dilaporkan memiliki aktivitas antiinflamasi adalah daun kelor dan jahe. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memformulasi dan mengevaluasi karakteristik fisik sediaan krim kombinasi ekstrak daun kelor dan jahe sebagai krim antiinflamasi. Formula krim disusun berdasarkan variasi konsentrasi emulgator (tween 80 & span 80). Ketiga formula krim selanjutnya di uji organoleptis, tipe krim, daya sebar, daya lekat, nilai pH, dan viskositas selama 14 hari penyimpanan (hari ke 0, 7 dan 14). Hasil uji organoleptis hari ke-0 menunjukkan krim berwarna hijau, bau khas ekstrak, dan berbentuk stabil. Sedangkan hari ke-7 dan 14 menunjukkan warna & bau tetap sama, tetapi krim memisah antara fase minyak dan air, pada ketiga formula. Hasil uji tipe krim hari ke-0,7,14 menunjukkan tipe krim minyak dalam air (M/A) untuk ketiga formula. Hasil uji daya sebar, daya lekat, dan nilai pH tidak berbeda antara ketiga formula baik sebelum ataupun sesudah penyimpanan. Hasil uji viskositas hari ke-0 menunjukkan nilai viskositas F1 (224,600 cPs), F2 (215,100 cPs), F3 (323,100 cPs), sedangkan penyimpanan selama 14 hari menyebabkan terjadinya penurunan nilai viskositas pada ketiga formula krim, dengan nilai viskoitas paling rendah pada formula 2 sebesar 76,290 cPs. Formula krim ekstrak daun kelor dan jahe dengan variasi konsentrasi emulgator memiliki karakteristik fisik yang memenuhi persyaratan nilai pH, daya lekat, daya sebar, dan tipe krim yang tidak berubah selama 14 hari penyimpanan, namun tidak memenuhi persyaratan nilai viskositas dan mengalami breaking pada hari ke-7 dan 14.

Abstract

Air merupakan senyawa kimia yang sangat penting untuk kehidupan makhluk hidup di bumi. Fungsi air bagi kehidupan tidak dapat digantikan oleh senyawa yang lain. Penggunaan air yang utama dan sangat vital bagi kehidupan adalah sebagai air minum. Kehilangan air sebesar 15% dari berat badan dapat mengakibatkan kematian yang diakibatkan oleh dehidrasi. Hydrogen Rich Water merupakan salah satu jenis air hasil olahan teknologi mesin elektrolisis. Dari proses elektrolisis tersebut dihasilkan hidrogen bebas (H2) dalam jumlah yang banyak. Hidrogen ini merupakan antioksidan terkecil dimuka bumi, yang tentunya berperan dalam pencegahan bahkan penyembuhan berbagai penyakit. Oleh karena pentingnya manfaat air dalam tubuh dan besarnya manfaat Hidrogen bebas bagi tubuh, maka penulis melakukan edukasi kepada masyarakat luas tentang manfaat air hidrogen bagi tubuh. Hasil akhir dari kegiatan ini adalah terbentuknya masyarakat yang faham tentang pentingnya air bagi tubuh, dan adanya transformasi pengetahuan masyarakat terkait dengan jenis air yang baik untuk konsumsi sehari-hari.
