Abstract

Bullying in vocational schools, which involves late adolescents with complex psychosocial dynamics, requires a holistic prevention approach. This study examines the implementation of a humanistic approach through collaboration between Guidance and Counseling Teachers and Homeroom Teachers to prevent bullying at State Vocational High School 1 Narmada, West Lombok. Using a qualitative case study design, data are collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The results show that structured collaboration through regular coordination meetings, informal communication, and joint interventions, such as home visits, is highly effective for early detection and case management. The humanistic approach, embodied in empathy, unconditional acceptance, and reflective dialogue, is consistently applied in counseling services and learning interactions. School policy support through the Duta Sahabat and Teman Curhat programs strengthens the creation of an inclusive and safe school climate. This collaborative model not only reduces incidents of bullying but also promotes emotional awareness, peer support, and a culture of mutual respect. This study concludes that the synergy between humanistic approaches and teacher cooperation, supported by school leadership, is an effective strategy for building a positive learning environment in vocational schools. Abstract

This study was conducted in response to the low level of students' critical thinking skills and the predominance of teacher-centered instruction in mathematics classrooms. It aims to analyze the differences in students' critical thinking skills between those taught using the MHM approach assisted by GeoGebra and those taught through traditional methods on the topic of the Pythagorean Theorem in Class VIII at SMPN 3 Lingsar, West Lombok.  This study employed a quasi-experimental design, specifically a nonequivalent control group design, involving two groups of 27 students each.  The experimental group received instruction using the MHM approach with GeoGebra, which emphasizes reflective, persistent, and evidence-based mathematical thinking habits, while the control group used conventional methods  Data were collected through pretest and posttest critical thinking assessments, student worksheets, and learning observations. The initial abilities of both groups were comparable, as indicated by the independent t-test on the pretest (p > 0.05). Posttest results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group (mean = 82) compared to the control group (mean = 65), with a posttest p-value of 0.000 (< 0.05) and a very large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.90), indicating a substantial difference in learning outcomes between the groups.  Observations also revealed very high engagement levels in the experimental group. These findings demonstrate that the MHM approach, aided by GeoGebra, effectively enhances students' critical thinking skills and fosters reflective, systematic, and collaborative learning habits. This study recommends adopting MHM strategies and visual technologies like GeoGebra in mathematics education.

Abstract

This community service program aims to overcome environmental and educational challenges in Gresik, where limited waste management and the use of plastic waste in mathematics learning media in secondary schools have not been implemented. Based on discussions with MGMP Mathematics SMA Gresik Regency, two main gaps were found: (1) the absence of a program to develop plastic-based mathematics learning media, and (2) the lack of assistance to support teachers in the production and implementation of these media. This program aims to provide sustainable assistance to teachers in creating environmentally friendly plastic waste-based mathematics learning media, as a contribution to local sustainability initiatives. The method used is FAVA (Focus Group Discussion, Action, Validity, Accountability) which will be held from December 2025 to February 2026. The first FGD was held at SMA Muhammadiyah 1 Gresik on December 8, 2025, involving representatives of 20 MGMP Mathematics SMA/SMK/MA Gresik. The action was carried out through offline and online mentoring to develop a prototype of learning media using common plastic waste, such as bottles and caps, for mathematics topics. The validity stage ensures clear curriculum and procedural suitability. This program produced three winners of mathematics learning media at the Gresik Regency level, strengthening teachers' capacity in contextualizing mathematics learning with environmental values.

Abstract

This study investigated the effectiveness of integrating the Snowball Throwing cooperative learning model with visual cue cards in improving elementary students’ science achievement on ecosystem concepts. The study employed a true experimental pretest–posttest control group design involving 66 fifth-grade students randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. Student achievement was measured using a validated multiple-choice test. Prior to hypothesis testing, data met parametric assumptions, as indicated by normal distribution (Shapiro–Wilk, p > .05) and homogeneous variance (Levene’s test, p = .651). Data were analyzed using independent samples t-tests and effect size estimation. The results revealed that the experimental group achieved significantly higher posttest scores than the control group (t(64) = 6.12, p < .001), with a large effect size (Cohen’s d = 1.46). Gain score analysis also showed a significant difference (t(64) = 7.22, p < .001; Cohen’s d = 1.80), indicating substantially greater learning improvement among students exposed to the cooperative–visual approach. These findings suggest that combining structured peer interaction with visual scaffolding effectively enhances conceptual understanding in elementary science learning. The study provides empirical support for implementing multimodal cooperative strategies to improve science achievement in primary education. Abstract

Purpose – Toilet training in early childhood education is commonly treated as a matter of independence, bodily control, and hygiene. In Islamic early childhood settings, however, it may also function as a routine through which aqidah, sharia, akhlaq, and thaharah are introduced and practiced. What remains less clear is how this ordinary bodily routine becomes a medium of value internalization in everyday school life. This article examines how Islamic values were internalized through toilet training activities at RA SBB Cahaya Ilahi, Serang City, and how that process became visible in children’s behavior.Design/methods/approach – A qualitative descriptive case study was conducted with Group B students, the principal, classroom teachers, and assistant teachers. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Credibility was strengthened through source and technique triangulation.Findings – Islamic values were internalized through a four-stage process of introduction, habituation, reinforcement, and evaluation embedded in the school’s daily toileting routine. Toilet training therefore operated not only as a hygiene practice but also as an embodied pedagogical routine in which prayer, etiquette, modesty, responsibility, and cleanliness were repeatedly taught and monitored. The outcomes of this process were visible in children’s behavior across aqidah, sharia, akhlaq, and thaharah domains. At the same time, internalization was uneven. Brief and highly repeated actions such as prayer recitation and entry and exit etiquette appeared more stable than actions requiring fuller bodily coordination and more complete procedural follow-through.Research implications/limitations – The findings suggest that value internalization in early childhood is structured, mediated, and uneven rather than automatic. At the same time, the study is limited to one Islamic early childhood institution and does not fully capture the continuity between school-based habituation and family practice.Practical implications – Islamic early childhood institutions can use daily care routines such as toilet training as structured sites of character education by linking bodily procedures with value language, consistent teacher guidance, reinforcement, and family continuity.Originality/value – The article brings toilet training research into conversation with Islamic value education and shows that toilet training can be understood not merely as a developmental routine, but as an embodied pedagogical mechanism through which religious values are translated into children’s daily conduct.Paper type Case study

Abstract

Purpose – This study evaluates the Market Day program at TK ABA Percontohan, Bojonegoro Regency, as an authentic learning strategy to foster independence in early childhood using a CIPP-based evaluation framework.Methodology – The study used a qualitative approach. Participants were selected purposively and involved 27 respondents: the principal (n=1), teachers (n=4), and parents/guardians (n=5), while 17 children were observed as research subjects without being interviewed. Data were collected through structured observations during Market Day, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. Data analysis followed an interactive process of reduction/coding, data display, and drawing and verifying conclusions through source and method triangulation.Findings – Market Day functioned as an authentic learning activity that stimulated children's life skills, including early financial literacy, confidence in social interaction, decision-making based on their allowance, responsibility for their goods and sales booth, and emotional self-regulation (waiting in line, being patient, and accepting consequences). The main challenges were money, numeracy skills—especially when calculating and giving change—differences in children's confidence and communication, queue discipline, and inconsistent parental involvement and product standards. These findings suggest the need for stronger scaffolding to support money-related numeracy.Contribution – This study contributes by providing a holistic CIPP-based evaluation of Market Day, formulating observable indicators of children’s independence in authentic transaction settings, and offering practical recommendations to strengthen scaffolding and program quality in kindergarten and similar early childhood education contexts.
