Abstract

Public street lighting plays an important role in enhancing safety and comfort in urban areas. However, the use of conventional energy for public street lighting significantly contributes to greenhouse gas emissions. This research aims to study the optimization of solar energy usage in public street lighting systems to reduce urban emissions. The methods used include energy efficiency analysis, case studies of solar energy-based public street lighting implementation, and environmental impact evaluation. The results of the study show that the application of solar energy technology in public street lighting can increase energy efficiency by up to 30% and reduce CO2 emissions by 25% compared to conventional systems. In the case study of public street lighting in the city of Binjai, the reduction in carbon emissions reached 99.96%. Additionally, this study also identifies key factors affecting the success of implementation, such as technical design, initial costs, and government policy support. Therefore, optimizing solar energy-based public street lighting not only has the potential to reduce negative environmental impacts but also supports sustainable urban development.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the potential of solar energy in Pematang Serai Village, Tanjung Pura District, Langkat Regency, to support the development of solar power plants (PLTS) as an alternative energy source. This village faces challenges of dependency on fossil energy, which is non-renewable and harmful to the environment. Using qualitative and quantitative research approaches, data collection was conducted through direct observation, interviews, and measurement of sunlight intensity with specialized devices. The results show that the sunlight intensity in this village peaks at 12:00 PM, with an input power of 74.91 W/m² and an average panel efficiency of 15%. The total power produced over six hours reaches 922.38 Wh, providing a significant opportunity to create an energy-independent community through renewable energy utilization. This study suggests the application of PLTS at both household and commercial levels as a practical solution to decrease reliance on fossil energy.

Abstract

In the palm oil industry, three-phase induction motors have a very important role in the production process. One of the problems that arises is the quality of the loading power on the motor which can make the motor performance less than optimal. In this study, an analysis and calculation of the power of a three-phase induction motor were carried out with the condition of opening the control valve in stages from 0% to 100%. The motor to be discussed is a three-phase induction motor that works as a pump driver for transferring crude glycerine water to the tank farm at the fatty acid 2 plant at PT. Unilever Oleochemical Indonesia. By using the observation method in conducting research to obtain measurement data, the variables taken are changes in current, power factor, and input power. From the results of this study, the output power value and power efficiency on the motor were obtained when the valve was opened 0%-100%, at the highest valve opening      of 100%, the motor output power was 4.39 KW with a power efficiency on the motor of 95%, at the lowest valve opening, the motor output power was 3.22 KW with an efficiency value obtained 95%.
