Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has indirectly forced people to adapt to the new normal, doing activities outside the home with proper health protocols or not leaving the house to reduce the spread of the virus; this also affects food consumption and sedentary behavior. For some people, the pandemic causes anxiety and even stress. The design of this study was cross cross-sectional, using a survey method online with Google Form carried out from April to September 2021. Descriptive analysis was conducted on 1185 respondents who are currently studying at universities in Indonesia., The results of the study stated that the pandemic had an impact on Indonesian students. This survey researched the differences in eating habits, changes in body weight, and lifestyle in Indonesian students based on where they lived during the Covid-19 pandemic. From the results of data analysis, it is known that most of the respondents experienced changes in body weight during the Covid-19 pandemic, whether they lived together or alone. However, more than half of the respondents have a habit of weighing their body weight irregularly. The results showed that the COVID-19 pandemic influenced eating habits, lifestyle, and changes in body weight. The community, especially students, both living alone (dormitory/boarding/apartments) or living with family or relatives should have sufficient knowledge and attitudes about nutrition to maintain unwanted weight changes during the pandemic.

Abstract

The low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding is directly influenced by the weak intention of mothers in providing exclusive breastfeed since pregnancy. Mothers who have had the intention of breastfeeding since pregnancy are 3 times faster in the practice to breastfeed their babies after birth, compared to mothers who just decided to breastfeed their babies after giving birth. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors associated with the intention of exclusive breastfeeding of pregnant women. The sample of this research was pregnant women who came to Kebon Jeruk Community Health Center (Puskesmas) The intention of exclusive breastfeeding was measured using the Infant Feeding Intentions (IFI) scale questionnaire. Bivariate analysis was used to see the correlation between knowledge and attitude towards exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding intention. Most of the respondents had a relatively high intention of exclusive breastfeeding (62%). More than half of the respondents had good knowledge on Early initiation of breastfeeding (EIBF) and exclusive breastfeeding (60%). Their attitudes toward EIBF and exclusive breastfeeding were also positive (54%). The factors that influenced the intention of exclusive breastfeeding for pregnant women at the Kebon Jeruk Community Health Center include gravida, education, knowledge and attitudes toward EIBF and exclusive breastfeeding. Measurement of the intention of exclusive breastfeeding should be carried out since the first trimester of pregnancy as an early detection of the success of exclusive breastfeeding so that promotive and preventive efforts can be carried out from an early age.

Abstract

Abstract

Breastfeeding is essential for infant health and development, yet Indonesia faces challenges in meeting global breastfeeding targets. This review examines the potential of tele-counseling (telelactation) as a solution to improve breastfeeding support in the digital era, focusing on overcoming geographical and service delivery barriers. A systematic literature search covering PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and local Indonesian journals identified 25 articles from 2019 to 2023, with 14 unique studies meeting inclusion criteria. Findings indicate that telelactation primarily utilizes WhatsApp groups, Androidbased apps, and online counseling sessions, resulting in improved breastfeeding techniques, increased exclusive breastfeeding rates, and enhanced maternal knowledge. However, privacy concerns and technological barriers persist, though these are addressed through specialized training and ongoing support for healthcare providers. Telecounseling demonstrates promise in supporting breastfeeding in Indonesia, though further research is needed to address geographical limitations and assess longterm impacts. Integrating telecounseling into national breastfeeding policies could significantly advance maternal and child health outcomes in Indonesia.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit various parts of the world, including Indonesia, has had an impact on society. One of the layers of society that has experienced this impact is students. With the large-scale social restrictions, Indonesian students do a lot of activities at home. Many students become concerned with themselves, but there are also students who feel bored because of low social interaction which in turn causes high food consumption and sedentary behaviour at home. The objective of this study to determine changes in body weight, food consumption and lifestyle in Indonesian students. The design of this study was cross sectional, with descriptive analysis conducted on 1185 students in Indonesia. The results of the study stated that the pandemic had an impact on Indonesian students. During the pandemic as many as 67.1% of students experienced changes in the size of their BB. Most of the students experienced moderate stress (77.1%), and bad sedentary behaviour by 63.4%. However, diet and exercise habits have changed for the better as much as 52.6% and 63.7%, respectively. Indonesian students need to pay more attention to changes in body weight and lifestyle during the pandemic so as not to have a negative impact on health and nutritional status.

Abstract

Background: One of the community groups affected by the Covid-19 pandemic is college students. The pandemic has changed the learning system that requires college students to study from home. In addition, it changes college student life habits, including physical activity, diet, body composition, stress, changes in body weight, and others. Objective: Aim to model the impact of the pandemic on weight changes in college students in Indonesia. Method: this study was conducted on 1185 college students for 35 days with a cross-sectional design. The research design used a cross-sectional study design. Analysis of the data used is SEM with LISREL. Result: The results showed a causal relationship between the latent variables of significant lifestyle factors on consumption factors and important consumption factors on changes in body weight in a positive direction. Structural model of the determinants of weight change = 0.05 consumption + 1.03 lifestyle. Conclusion: Lifestyle and consumption factors affect changes in body weight during the Covid 19 Pandemic in college students. Recommendation: There needs to be more attention to public health after the Covid-19 Pandemic hit, especially regarding consumption patterns and stress. People must be able to adjust to new normal conditions so as not to vent their stress by consuming lots of snacks or foods high in fat and sugar
