Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of lavender aromatherapy inhalation against hemodialysis complications such as fatigue, anxiety, decreased sleep quality, AVF stabbing pain, and depression. The method used in this research is a systematic literature search from several online databases. The results showed that from ten articles reviewed, and lavender aromatherapy inhalation could reduce hemodialysis complications, namely fatigue, anxiety, decreased sleep quality, and AVF is stabbing pain. In contrast, lavender aromatherapy inhalation for hemodialysis complications such as depression did not show significant results. In conclusion, overall lavender aromatherapy inhalation effectively overcame hemodialysis complications except for depression complications. Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the effectiveness of weight bearing in postoperative lower extremity fractures. The method used is to review the literature results by analyzing data systematically using a checklist of protocols and rules (PRISMA) and for the feasibility of the study results using the PICO framework. Search for articles using three online databases, namely Science Direct, Google scholar, and PubMed. The results showed that the five pieces discussed the impact of early weight bearing on postoperative lower extremity patients with discussions that had a positive effect—withholding weight / early weight bearing results reducing the incidence of thromboembolic disease. Active movement can reduce joint stiffness, maintain muscle mass, and the ability to return to activities. In conclusion, early weight bearing can be used to increase muscle strength after surgery for lower extremity fracture. Keywords: Orthopedic surgery, Lower extremity fracture

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) technology on pain scales in post-TKR osteoarthritis patients. Using previously defined keywords, this research uses the literature review method, which originates from the database, namely ClinicKey Nursing, EBSCOhost, ProQuest, and Embase with Publish in 2018-2022. The results showed that after the four databases were determined, 511 articles were produced, of which Clinickey Nursing (n = 41), EBSCOhost (n = 17), EMBASE (n = 3), and ProQuest (n = 450). First and second screening (n = 81) (=26). duplication and filtering of titles/abstracts, and based on inclusion and exclusion criteria, the number of articles were grouped into 5 (n=5). In conclusion, VR technology devices still need to do an in-depth study regarding the effectiveness of their use as a distraction technology in post-TKR patients. Specific assessment of the use of VR technology in terms of Visualization, Auditory, and Type of VR Devices used to control functions. Keywords: Osteoarthritis, Pain Scale, Total Knee Replacement, Virtual Reality

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the results of published studies related to nonpharmacological management to reduce complaints of constipation in orthopedic patients. The research method used was Systematic Review which was carried out through a search strategy in 9 electronic databases with the keywords (orthopedic patient OR orthopedic patient) AND (nonpharmacological management OR nonpharmacological therapy) AND (constipation OR obstipation). The results showed that there was various nonpharmacological management used to treat and prevent the severity of constipation in orthopedic patients, including interventions such as chewing gum, abdominal massage, acupressure, hydrotherapy, biofeedback therapy, and nursing interventions based on the patient's active involvement in care. Various nonpharmacological strategies are used to treat constipation in orthopedic patients, and the best method to treat constipation in orthopedic patients cannot be ascertained due to the variety of instruments used and differences in sample characteristics in each study. Selected articles were assessed for quality using the Critical Appraisal Skill Program (CASP) guidelines. The six reviewed articles obtained that the range of patients who were given nonpharmacological interventions was ≥ 18 years. Instruments for measuring the incidence and severity of constipation are the Constipation Assessment Score, ROME III, Bristol Scale, Rasmusen measuring scale, Constipation Score Method, and Constipation Risk Assessment Scale. In conclusion, several nonpharmacological therapies can be applied to orthopedic patients to reduce their constipation complaints, thereby reducing the impact of hospitalization on patients and improving their quality of life. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) as a distraction technique in pain management. The method used in this research is a literature study through online databases: EBSCOhost, PubMed, and Scopus, with free full-text criteria, using English, publications in the last five years, and clinical trial or randomized controlled trial research designs. The results showed that there were 1,012 articles, with six pieces according to the inclusion criteria, which identified the effectiveness of Virtual Reality (VR) in reducing pain, anxiety, vital signs, experiences, levels of satisfaction, and side effects. In conclusion, Virtual Reality (VR) can be a distraction method to reduce pain, anxiety, and patients' vital signs. VR produces a positive and fun experience that is also considered feasible and safe. Keywords: Distraction, Comfort, Pain, Virtual Reality
