Abstract

PDAM Tirta Musi Palembang is a regional company engaged in the supply of clean water, especially in the Palembang area. The company still has not implemented the warehousing method properly. This is indicated by the presence of material with the highest frequency of picking placed far from the entrance and exit of the warehouse, the occurrence of long queues when picking up material for a unit in the warehouse, the aisle is used as the placement of goods, the labeling of materials is uneven, and placing goods in the area empty without regard to entry and exit. For this reason, it is necessary to improve the layout of the warehouse using the ABC Class-Based Storage method. The use of this method is based on the ease of managing the movement of goods in/out based on the frequency of movement of goods. Based on the results of data processing carried out, the grouping of materials using ABC analysis was obtained, namely Class A (HDPE Pipe, Sealtape, Elbow PE, Ferulle, Knee GS, and PVC Glue), Class B (Foucet Elbow and Knee PVC) and Class C (PVC Pipe, Clam Saddle, Box Meter, GS Pipe, and PVC Headlight). The Material Handling costs incurred in the proposed layout amounted to IDR 45,910687 (61.64% savings) which reduced the total distance by 66.30%. Abstract

PT XYZ is a multinational company from France that focuses on lubricant products. Problems at PT XYZ include overstocked items and damaged or defective product packaging during production, storage, and distribution. To compete in the Indonesian lubricant business market, it is necessary to analyze the supply chain performance using the SCOR model approach. The goal is to design supply chain performance indicators and propose improvements for low-performing areas. There are 12 existing KPIs and 8 additional KPIs from literature studies that have been adapted to the company's needs. KPI properties are compiled, and data is processed to determine the weights for each performance level with the help of Expert Choice. Data processing is carried out by calculating secondary data obtained for each KPI, except for KPI-8, KPI-13, KPI-14, and KPI-19, which do not have data requirements. Normalization is carried out for each KPI, and the total supply chain performance measurement for PT XYZ is 56.78, with an additional contribution value of 13.3. It can be concluded that around 70% of the maximum performance has been achieved, which falls into the "Good" category.

Abstract

The forwarding company that will be studied is a subsidiary operating in the logistics services sector of a State-Owned Enterprise (BUMN) company that provides forwarding and warehousing services. The company has 30 trailer trucks in operation so it needs a competent spare parts supplier to meet the company's needs. Currently, companies only pay attention to price as the main factor in choosing suppliers, which ultimately causes late deliveries from these suppliers. In addition to looking for the best suppliers that companies should choose, this research aims to determine the main criteria and main sub-criteria for businesses in the process of selecting spare parts providers. In determining the weight of each criterion and ranking of suppliers that companies should prioritize, the TOPSIS approach and AHP method are used in this research. There are 5 criteria and 15 sub-criteria as well as 4 alternative suppliers that are compared. The supplier with the highest weight after using Expert Choice 11 software and the AHP technique is supplier 1 with a weight of 0.421, supplier 2 with a weight of 0.164, supplier 3 with a weight of 0.12, and supplier 4 with a weight of 0.294. By using the TOPSIS approach, supplier priority is obtained, namely supplier 1 has a preference value of 0.9256, supplier 4 has a value of 0.5217, supplier 2 has a value of 0.1829, and supplier 3 has a value of 0.0180.

Abstract

MDLY Gold is a small and medium business partner (MSME) engaged in the fashion sector that has been established since 2017. As of 2022, MDLY Gold successfully has 9 production and retail locations throughout the major islands of Indonesia with the main outlet located in Tanah Abang, Jakarta. Center. However, ordering MDLY Gold raw materials requires a lead time of 2 weeks. So this will affect the long production time so that it causes losses for MDLY Gold. Therefore, to maximize raw material inventory and reduce losses, we can analyze using the Economic Order Quantity method. Through solving the inventory control problem, the total Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) of raw material inventory for MDLY Gold production is 27,413.8 Yards during January to June. This EOQ aims to manage inventory that can optimize the total cost consisting of ordering costs and holding costs. Besides this, MDLY Gold must reorder when the stock reaches a reorder point of 17,668.4 Yards with additional supplies needed if there is no shortage of raw materials or safety stock of 10,112.24 Yards. Determination of ROP and SS is useful for MDLY Gold to be able to find out when is the best time to place an order besides there is an order lead time, so that raw materials will arrive on time and the production process will run smoothly without any problems in inventory control.

Abstract

Production planning in the oil and gas industry is a key element for operational efficiency and response to changes in market demand. This research focuses on smart and adaptive strategies through the application of two main approaches: forecasting. The purpose of this study is to determine the most suitable forecasting model from the five forecasting models (Simple Exponential Smoothing, Naive Method, Simple Moving Average, Weighted Moving Average, and Exponential Moving Average) to be used in LPG production and calculate the value of forecasting in the next five periods. Using LPG historical data from 2017 to September 2023.  Then the results are compared using forecasting error metrics such as MAPE and RMSE. It was concluded that the Simple Exponential Smoothing model showed a forecasting error value of 21.58% for MAPE and 72764.01 for RMSE. The Naive model has a forecast error value of 20.33% for MAPE and 78044.48 for RMSE. Meanwhile, the Simple Moving Average recorded a forecast error value of 20.28% for MAPE and 64449.76 for RMSE. On the other hand, the Weighted Moving Average shows a percentage error of 16.34% with an RMSE value of 48426.57. Finally, the Exponential Moving Average (EMA) shows an optimal level of accuracy, with a forecast error value of 16.01% for MAPE and 46046.42 for RMSE. Thus, from the five models evaluated, it can be concluded that the Exponential Moving Average (EMA) is the best model for forecasting LPG products, considering the lowest level of accuracy and percentage of forecasting errors. This study identifies the EMA as the best method in forecasting LPG production. The implication is a positive contribution to the accuracy of predictions and planning efficiency.
