Abstract

The demands and the need to be able to learn various cutting-edge techniques and media in the creation of visual arts, require students to be able to absorb a number of information combined with an intuitive understanding of things that are relevant in every situation. Amidst the COVID-19 global pandemic, various virtual learning communities initiated a trend of visual arts learning. This study aims to reveal the online Community of Inquiry (hereinafter, CoI) learning model that takes place in virtual learning communities in Indonesia. The method of the investigation was a qualitative virtual ethnography approach involving 24 members from two virtual learning communities in Indonesia. Understanding their learning experience was achieved through interviews, participatory observation, and assessment of the participants’ artworks that had been produced during the learning process. Results revealed that the experience of creating visual arts through an online community of inquiry learning had had a positive impact on creation and appreciation activities. By studying how the visual arts learning process takes place in virtual learning communities, we can contribute to ensuring the success of the ongoing community of inquiry model for online learning and suggest comparable tactics to raise the standard of visual arts education online.

Abstract

Students today must have 21st-century skills to succeed in the workplace. Unfortunately, some pupils lack 21st-century skills due to an inefficient educational system. The study's overarching goal was to compare and contrast the problem-solving abilities of students exposed to Problem-Based Learning and those exposed to Discovery Learning, focusing on the relationship between the two in terms of students' self-efficacy. The research design used a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study was fourth-grade elementary school students in the Citapen area, Bogor Regency, and the sampling technique was simple random sampling at a state elementary school in Bogor Regency. The research sample was 96 students consisting of 2 experimental and one control class. The research instrument is a problem-solving ability test and a self-efficacy questionnaire. The restudy's results were tested using two-way ANOVA, showing differences in students' problem-solving abilities with high, medium, and low self-efficacy taught by Problem-Based Learning and Discovery Learning. It is hoped that the results of this study can provide a reference as a learning alternative that could improve students' problem-solving abilities.

Abstract

Elementary school students' lack of critical thinking skills in scientific learning is a result of a lack of opportunities for kids to exercise their critical thinking skills in decision-making and problem-solving. Appropriate learning models and strategies in science education can help students develop their critical thinking skills. Consequently, this research aimed to examine how well cooperative learning develops students' capacity for critical thinking. This research is novel in that it will examine different journals of environmentally friendly cooperative learning models while keeping in mind the theme of the SDGs, which has not been the focus of previous studies but has shown results related to environmental insights, especially in science learning. A method of the systematic literature review was adopted for this investigation. Previous relevant scientific studies on the same topic served as the basis for this research. Data reduction, presentation, synthesis, and conclusion drawing constitute the data analysis method. Students develop their critical thinking capacity through collaborative learning strategies, including game or role-playing, Jigsaw, TGT, STAD, and learning together, and by analysing previously relevant scientific materials. Reading these relevant, previously published scientific publications can bolster students' knowledge and ability to think critically and creatively. For topics not covered here, such as the effects of cooperative learning with an ecological lens on students' critical thinking, this study can serve as a useful resource.

Abstract

The development of the creative economy in Indonesia encounters several obstacles, including regulatory issues and government protection, as well as the need for more technological knowledge and innovation owned by business people. Higher education academics, as intellectuals, play an essential role in developing this creative economy, considering that academics are very closely related to science, technology, and research innovation. This article will discuss Indonesia's creative economy and how people perceive it. Furthermore, it will look at the importance of higher education as a printer for young entrepreneurs in the sector. This article examines two aspects of curriculum development based on the creative economy and work placements for young entrepreneurs. It will then demonstrate how young graduates can be empowered to build creative economy careers. This research uses a literature review as the design. Five articles were taken as the data sources for this study. The results of the study show that to create young creative workers, higher education must create a curriculum that is based on the creative economy and is oriented towards; competency-based, facilitating creativity, skills, and talents possessed by students, and there is a balance of soft science and hard science for future tertiary graduates. In the narrative of job placement for young creative workers, every tertiary institution is trying to connect and even be able to create business opportunities in various sectors of the creative economy without looking at the economic and social factors of these young creative workers.
