The purpose of this writing is to prove that there is a threat of discontinuity of ancient scripts in Malay Islamic manuscripts. Preservation of cultural heritage in the form of ancient script tends to be ignored. Abandonment of ancient scripts in the form of discontinuity the inheritance of ancient scripts; discontinuity of ancient script writing and discontinuity due to myths. In fact, these three aspects have the effect of threatening the discontinuity of ancient script. Through direct and indirect observation of digital collections of ancient manuscripts and free interviews with informants consisting of government agencies, traditional leaders and communities of ancient script lovers. Three ancient scripts that are threatened with discontinuity were found: (1) Jawi script, (2) Ulu script and (3) Lontaraq script. To then do data analysis by means of descriptive, interpretive and reflective of the existing data. This research shows that the government's policy regarding the preservation of cultural heritage must be handed down by the local government in an effort to preserve ancient scripts with outreach, workshops/training as a condition for the sustainability of cultural heritage. In addition, recruitment of ancient script experts is needed to increase qualified human resources and ancient script experts so that local content subjects can be realized. This is important to increase the preservation of ancient scripts.

Abstract

This research aimed to explore the forms and characteristics of Arabic written symbols used in traditional medicine. Traditional medicine is in demand by the public, because of the perceived high cure rate and the failure of modern treatment that patients have undergone after undergoing medical treatment. Traditional medicine is more convincing than medical treatment. There has not been much research regarding the characteristics and methods of traditional medicine using Arabic symbols/writing. Arabic symbols or writing have been researched more in terms of meaning and ritual. Hence, this research utilized data source triangulation and technical triangulation. This qualitative research adopted a phenomenological approach. The research subjects were traditional medicine practitioners who used Arabic symbols/writing in their treatments and patients who had used traditional medicine. Determining the subjects of this research was carried out using a purposive sampling technique. The research results showed that prayers originating from the Qur'an and rajah with Arabic letter symbols were the therapist's mainstay medicine for treating patients. The use of prayers and rajahs with Arabic letter symbols varied from one therapist to another. Rajah in traditional medicine was used to treat various kinds of patient complaints. The rajah writing came from the books of Shams al Ma'arif al Kubra and Al Mujarrabat. Rajah came from verses from the Qur'an which were rewritten in the book of medicine. Proper interpretation and use of the Qur'an could provide effective improvements to a person's weak mental and psychological condition.

Abstract

The grammatical linguistic symbols (GLS) are used in teaching yellow book (kitab kuning /traditional Islamic texts) and Arabic grammar in traditional Islamic boarding schools using regional languages such as Javanese and Sundanese, and are beginning to be adopted in the Indonesian language. This study aims to explore their usage practices in the latter language while examining their benefits, limitations, and impacts. This research novelty lies in its focus on the Indonesian language, considering that previous studies on GLS primarily focused on regional languages. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative, utilizing observation, interviews, and tests as instruments at Pondok Tahfidz Zawiyah Darul Hayat. The observational and interview data are analyzed using Saussure's semiotics theory. The test results are used to determine the impact of using GLS. This study investigates the use of GLS in Indonesian and examines its advantages, drawbacks, and effects. The results show that GLS is useful for comprehending yellow book grammatical functions, particularly those related to syntax, fa'idah, and word abbreviations. Notwithstanding its benefits, GLS isn't universally applicable and might cause mistakes, particularly when choosing symbols. Test results indicate that GLS helps with grammatical position determination. In an effort to address these limitations, the research recommends the creation of a standardized guidebook explaining the use of GLS and the addition of new symbols to support uncovered grammatical functions. This study makes a substantial contribution to the preservation of local knowledge in the context of Indonesian Islamic boarding schools, especially with regard to Arabic grammar teaching. By examining this aspect, the study enriches understanding not only of language dynamics but also of cultural preservation and educational practices in Indonesia.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the feasibility of web-based digital Arabic language gamification media from experts and users. Specifically, the research investigated the feasibility analysis of web media with the URL: https://belajararabonline14.wordpress.com/ containing Plotagon, Wordwalls, and Genially apps in learning Arabic at the Junior High School level. Generally, Arabic language instruction remains conventional and lacks interactivity. Consequently, students may experience boredom and reduced motivation to learn. Creating interactive materials using gaming principles could be one approach to solving this issue. This research was a type of quantitative descriptive research. This research involved 37 users and 4 validators. Data collection was carried out by distributing questionnaires to validators and users of this media and was analysed using descriptive statistics. The findings showed that web-based digital Arabic language gamification media received very valid responses from experts and users with details: a score of 4.53 from material experts, a score of 4.41 from media experts, a score of 4.93 from teacher responses, and a score of 4.06 from students. These findings suggest to Arabic teachers the potential benefit of incorporating this media as an auxiliary resource in Junior High School-level Arabic language instruction.
