Abstract

This conceptual study examines how Islamic philosophy provides a transformative ethical foundation for moral education by synthesizing the key ideas of classical thinkers such as Al-Farabi, Al-Ghazali, and Ibn Miskawayh. In response to the global moral crisis and the limitations of behaviorist approaches in education, the study critically explores four interrelated concepts ʿaql (reason), tazkiyah (moral purification), adab (refined conduct), and hikmah (wisdom) as philosophical frameworks for character formation. Using a qualitative conceptual research design, the study employs library research and thematic content analysis to reinterpret classical Islamic texts and contemporary academic literature. The findings reveal that reason serves as the foundation for ethical judgment and autonomy, moral purification strengthens internal discipline and sincerity, refined conduct represents the external expression of virtue in social life, and wisdom integrates intellectual, ethical, and spiritual maturity. Practically, these principles can guide educators in developing value-based curricula, reflective learning, and ethical role modeling in both Islamic and pluralistic educational contexts. Collectively, the study proposes an Islamic philosophical framework for rehumanizing moral education and bridging the gap between knowledge and virtue in contemporary learning environments.

Abstract

This study examines the relationship between the implementation of GUG, organizational culture, internal control, and management performance at State Islamic Religious Universities (PTKIN) in North Sumatra, with organizational commitment as a moderating variable. This research is a quantitative associative study conducted in 2023, focusing on PTKIN in North Sumatra Province. The research population consists of all program study leaders at State Islamic Religious Universities in North Sumatra. Data analysis was conducted using PLS SEM with the Smart PLS application. The research results indicate that Good University Governance (GUG) has a significant influence on management performance at PTKIN. Additionally, a strong organizational culture and effective internal control also positively contribute to management performance at PTKIN. Organizational commitment does not significantly affect management performance at PTKIN and does not moderate the influence of factors such as GUG, Organizational Culture, and Internal Control. This suggests that despite implementing GUG, a strong organizational culture, and an internal control system, organizational commitment does not significantly impact the strengthening of PTKIN management performance in North Sumatra. This research also indicates that management performance, measured by the Balanced Scorecard (BSC), is highly correlated with the integration of tawhid, such as financial performance being related to ihsan and israf, internal process performance being related to the principles of itqan and amanah, learning and growth performance being closely related to Tafaqquh fi 'l-Din and Ilm, and customer performance being related to Adl and Maslahah.

Abstract

Young investors on the IDX have experienced a significant increase in recent years. This could be a sign of how they are starting to pay attention to investments and savings. This study is aimed at finding out the factors that affect the investment and savings behavior of young people. This study adopts a quantitative research type. The approach used is the purposive sampling method. The data collection method used was a survey using a questionnaire. The questionnaire was given to young people in Indonesia through an online survey specifically designed to obtain data related to Investment and Savings factors. A total of 288 respondents were then used in the empirical analysis. The data obtained was analyzed using SEM data analysis techniques, using Smart PLS 4 software. The relationship hypothesis is created using partial and determinant structural equation modeling. The results of the partial test showed that financial knowledge and management liquidity had no effect on investment and savings variables. The variables of financial behavior and financial tax planning have a significant positive effect on the variables of investment and savings. Meanwhile, in terms of determination, independent variables correlated 46% with the dependent variables studied. This research has novelties of the variables of financial and tax planning, liquidity management that have not been studied by researchers before

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of judicial discretion in interpreting the division of joint property (gono-gini) in the Banten High Religious Court (PTA), with a focus on factors of fairness and contribution. Formal norms such as Article 97 of the Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI), which stipulates a 50:50 division, are often inadequate when faced with unequal economic and non-economic contributions, bad faith, and the socio-economic vulnerability of the weaker party. This study uses a content analysis method on appeal decisions from 2021-2025, supplemented by a review of Islamic law literature and Maqasid al-shari'ah. The results of the study indicate that judges use discretion to adjust the distribution proportion based on actual contributions, the child's best interests, and the principle of benefit. The maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah framework serves as a normative basis that binds deviations to remain proportional and oriented towards substantive justice. The findings also emphasize the need for interpretive guidelines, gender-friendly evidentiary standards, and strengthening mediation and prenuptial education to reduce disparities in decisions. This study concludes that judicial discretion is not merely a technical freedom, but a teleological instrument for realizing adaptive and inclusive justice in the Indonesian religious court system.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the philosophy of pesantren education as the philosophical foundation for innovation in the development of Islamic boarding schools amid the dynamics of social change and the demands of modernity. The study is grounded in the assumption that pesantren innovation is not merely technical or pragmatic in nature, but is deeply rooted in the ontological, epistemological, and axiological constructions of pesantren education. Employing a qualitative approach with a multi-site case study design, the research was conducted at Mahirul Hikam Assalafi Islamic Boarding School in Semarang Regency and Nurul Qur’an Islamic Boarding School in Boyolali. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and subsequently analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The findings reveal that ontologically, pesantren education is based on a conception of human beings as religious and social entities; epistemologically, it relies on the selective integration of revelation, classical Islamic scholarly traditions, and modern rationality; and axiologically, it is oriented toward moral formation, communal well-being, and social responsibility. These philosophical foundations serve as the primary basis for pesantren innovation, encompassing institutional development, curriculum design, and educational programs. The innovations implemented by both pesantren are contextual and gradual in nature, aimed at preserving the tradition of tafaqquh fi al-dīn while enhancing the relevance of pesantren education to contemporary societal needs. This study underscores that the philosophy of pesantren education plays a strategic role in bridging tradition and modernity, and functions as a normative framework for adaptive and sustainable pesantren development.

Abstract

This study explores the multidimensional concept of hijrah in the Qur’an through the perspectives of two contemporary exegetes representing the Sunni and Shia traditions: Muhammad Quraish Shihab (Tafsir al-Mishbah) and Nāṣīr Makārim Shīrāzī (Tafsir al-Amṯāl). Employing a qualitative library-based approach and a cross-mazhab thematic tafsir method, the research aims to uncover how both scholars interpret hijrah as a relevant social and spiritual transformation. Findings indicate that both exegetes view hijrah holistically, encompassing physical movement, social struggle, and inner purification. Shihab emphasizes hijrah as moral and societal renewal toward an inclusive and ethical community in the Indonesian context, while Shīrāzī highlights its spiritual dimension as an inner jihad against egoism and injustice. Despite doctrinal differences, both use similar analytical and literary-social methods, demonstrating a convergence on hijrah as a timeless call for ethical transformation and social justice. This cross-mazhab approach enriches Qur’anic scholarship by bridging sectarian perspectives and offering practical implications for contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

Assessment in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) at the secondary level, particularly within the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) framework, is essential for evaluating students’ mastery of spiritual, cognitive, and affective competencies. This study systematically reviews assessment practices in Islamic education under the GCSE context, drawing on the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method guided by PRISMA protocols. The review highlights the range of conceptual approaches employed, including argumentation-based assessments, value-oriented frameworks, and the integration of character education. Findings reveal several challenges, such as aligning assessment methods with both national standards and faith-based objectives, ensuring cultural and technological relevance, and addressing limitations in teacher preparedness. At the same time, developments in digital platforms and innovative assessment strategies present opportunities to strengthen validity and inclusivity. The study concludes by offering recommendations for advancing Islamic education assessment in the GCSE framework, particularly through the integration of technology, teacher training, and policy support, thereby contributing to more holistic and contextually grounded evaluation practices.

Abstract

This article provides an analytical study of the legal reasoning and arguments underpinning the DSN-MUI fatwa that permits Hajj financing through debt and financing schemes. Utilizing a descriptive literature review, the study traces relevant fatwas and examines their sharia bases, particularly the principles of maqasid al-shari'ah such as al-ibāhah (permissibility) and manhaj al-taysir (the approach of ease). The research aims to explore how this fatwa adapts to modern economic contexts while preserving core sharia principles, particularly regarding the reinterpretation of istitha’ah (capability). Findings demonstrate that the fatwa is fundamentally supported by a paradigm oriented toward achieving maslahat (benefit) and dar’ al-mafsad (avoidance of harm), emphasizing justice and accessibility for Muslim communities seeking to perform Hajj via sharia-compliant financing. This study offers in-depth insights into the legal construction and foundational sharia principles used by DSN-MUI, contributing critical perspectives on the social and economic implications of debt-based Hajj financing for scholars, Islamic finance practitioners, and policymakers.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effective communication strategies at State Islamic University (UIN) Ar-Raniry to strengthen the understanding and application of Islamic Sharia, given the institution's critical role in Aceh. Employing a qualitative case study method through interviews, observations, and document analysis of eight research subjects (R1–R8), the findings indicate that UIN Ar-Raniry implements a comprehensive strategy combining traditional approaches such as interpersonal communication, student mentoring programs, and collaboration with scholars with the utilization of digital media (social media, websites) to reach a wider audience. These strategies involve contextual messaging and interactive discussions, as well as the integration of Sharia values into the curriculum and the development of Islamic character. The success of these strategies is evidenced by an increased understanding of Sharia values among students, high participation in religious activities, and the application of Islamic ethics in academic life. Academically, these findings contribute by affirming the importance of synergy between modern and traditional communication and collaboration among stakeholders to support the optimal implementation of Islamic Sharia.
