Pendas : Jurnah Ilmiah Pendidikan Dasar is a journal published twice a year, namely in June and December that aims to be a forum for scientific publications to pour ideas and studies complemented with the results of research related to primary school education. To achieve this, basic education journals will selectively disseminate ideas and studies complemented by quality research results related to basic education, develop an education center to the elementary-school that can produce innovative, creative and original work and tested in the field of education and learning elementary School to be disseminated and implemented for improving the quality of primary-to-national education at the national, regional and international levels.

This research aimed at describing the increase of descriptive essay writing skill on Indonesian Language subject at the fifth grade of State Elementary School 006 Pasir Sialang District through Outing Class learning strategy. It was classroom action research. The subjects of this research were a teacher and 18 students. The objects were Outing Class strategy and descriptive essay writing skill. This research was conducted for two cycles, and every cycle comprised two meetings. Observation, test, and documentation were the techniques of collecting data. The technique of analyzing data was descriptive analysis with percentage. The research findings and data analyses showed that descriptive essay writing skill before the action was still low, and it was 72% or on poor category. After the improvement action by using Outing Class learning strategy was conducted in the first cycle, descriptive essay writing skill increased to 76,1%, and it was on good enough category. In the second cycle, descriptive essay writing skill increased again to 84,8%, and it was on very good category. Therefore, it could be concluded that the implementation of Outing Class learning strategy could increase descriptive essay writing skill on Indonesian Language subject at the fifth grade of State Elementary School 006 Pasir Sialang.

This study aims to improve students' initial reading skills through the Inductive Model with picture word media in class I students of UPT SDN 004 Langini in the 2024/2025 Academic Year. The type of research used is Classroom Action Research. The subjects of this study were 20 students, while the objects in this study were the Inductive Model of picture words and for students' beginner reading skills. In this study, 2 cycles were carried out, each cycle was carried out 2 meetings. Data collection techniques used in this study were observation, tests and documentation. Based on the increase in the number of students who achieved the learning objective achievement criteria (KKTP) and the increase in the average class and classical scores. The presentation value of classical completeness in cycle I meeting I was 40%, in cycle I meeting II 55%, and cycle II meeting I.65%, then in cycle II meeting II 80%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that through the Inductive Model with Picture Word media, it can improve students' beginner reading skills in class I UPT SDN 004 Langgini.

This study aims to explore in depth the efforts made by teachers in overcoming reading comprehension difficulties in grade IV students at SD Negeri Babakan, Tangerang Regency. Given the important role of reading comprehension in academic success, this study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. Data were obtained through in-depth interviews with the principal, teachers, and students, as well as direct observation during learning and analysis of related documents. The findings of the study indicate that teachers apply various strategies to overcome difficulties in reading comprehension. These strategies include the use of text-based learning methods that are appropriate to the level of students' abilities, the application of interactive techniques such as group discussions, and individual approaches to address specific difficulties faced by each student. In addition, teachers also conduct regular formative evaluations to monitor the development of students' reading comprehension. These findings indicate that an approach that is tailored to the individual needs of students and collaboration with parents can improve the effectiveness of the reading learning process. This study recommends the need for more in-depth training for teachers on innovative and adaptive reading teaching strategies to address various challenges in students' reading comprehension.

This study aims to analyze the readiness of elementary schools in developing critical thinking and computational thinking skills as learning demands of the 21st century. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study design carried out at SD Al Firdaus Surakarta. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observations, and documentation studies of teachers and students of grade V. Data analysis was carried out using the Miles and Huberman model which included data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawn. The results of the study show that teachers have a good initial understanding of the essence of 21st century learning, even though the application of critical thinking and computational thinking is still implicit. The Unit of Inquiry (UOI)-based school curriculum allows for cross-subject integration through research-based projects and digital technologies. Students show positive initial readiness in critical and computational thinking, while schools have provided digital facilities. Nevertheless, optimizing the use of technology and strengthening teachers' pedagogic literacy is still needed so that 21st century learning can be carried out in a sustainable and measurable manner

This study aims to analyze the implementation of environmental character education through a recycled mask-making activity among fifth-grade students at Elementary School. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach with data collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and tests. The results showed that project-based learning effectively fostered character values such as responsibility, cooperation, care, and discipline. Four key indicators of environmental awareness were identified: (1) adherence to classroom cleanliness rules was evident as most students maintained clean work areas; (2) the use of trash bins reflected emerging awareness of waste sorting, though inconsistently applied; (3) efficient use of electricity and ventilation was observed through reliance on natural lighting and airflow; and (4) cleaning tools were used responsibly, particularly by students assigned to cleaning duties. These findings suggest that project-based learning strengthens students’ environmental awareness through hands-on experiences, despite challenges such as inconsistent waste separation habits.

This study aims to understand mathematics anxiety in Children with Special Needs (ABK) in the context of inclusive schools, a topic that has not been widely researched so far. The study used a combined approach, combining a meta-analysis review from 14 reputable journals with an analysis of empirical data from 61 primary school students (7 ABK and 54 non-ABK). The aim was to analyze the relationship between math anxiety and teacher support. This research focuses on three specific mechanisms experienced by ABK: cognitive (related to working memory or memory), emotional (related to learning fear or trauma), and relational (related to teacher support). To ensure that the analysis was valid despite the limited number of ABK samples, the study used a special statistical technique called bootstrap resampling (with 1000 iterations). The main results were quite surprising and contrasting: In general, there was no significant difference in the level of math anxiety reported between ABK students (mean 2.09) and non-ABK students (mean 2.04). However, one critical behavioral difference was identified: ABK students significantly more often procrastinated on math assignments (p=0.025). Further analysis revealed that the main cognitive factor linking anxiety to achievement was working memory (memory to process information) (β = –0.13 to –0.27), not basic numeracy skills. This shows the existence of layered cognitive vulnerability in crew members, where the limitations of existing working memory are exacerbated by anxiety. Positively, students' perceptions of teacher support were found to be equal in both groups. This demonstrates equitable and non-discriminatory support practices in the school environment

This study aims to describe the strategies of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in utilizing local socio-cultural contexts or local wisdom as learning resources to strengthen students’ religious character at MTS Terpadu Labbaik Lahat. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that PAI teachers implement culture-based learning strategies by integrating local values such as mutual cooperation, politeness, deliberation, responsibility, and religious social awareness into classroom activities. Local wisdom serves as a reflective medium that reinforces students’ understanding of religion and develops their religious character. The study concludes that integrating local socio-cultural contexts enhances the relevance of Islamic education to students’ real-life experiences, while simultaneously strengthening spiritual, moral, and social values aligned with the principles of Islam as rahmatan lil ‘alamin.

This study aims to identify, analyse, and design movement and mobility intervention programmes for students with mobility impairments in inclusive schools and special needs schools (SLB). Through a comprehensive multi-source approach, this study explores a systematic assessment framework that includes the identification of mobility impairments, assessment of gross and fine motor skills, and evaluation of mobility issues including orientation, independence, and coordination. Data were collected from three main sources: assessment instruments from Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, the Inclusive Education Implementation Guidelines from the Ministry of Education and Culture, and practical guidelines from SLB-A Pembina Jakarta. The results of the study indicate that motor skills assessment must be conducted in a multi-dimensional manner involving a multidisciplinary team of professionals. The main findings identified 11 movement competencies with 37 specific assessment indicators, a percentage-based quantitative assessment system, and a qualitative approach based on independence. This article also presents recommendations for structured and personalised intervention programmes based on the assessment results, including structured motor exercises, school environment modifications, and inter-professional collaboration. The implementation of this comprehensive assessment is expected to improve the quality of inclusive education services and the independence of students with mobility impairments.

This research seeks to provide a comprehensive description and analysis of the strategies employed by school principals in enhancing educational quality within the school setting. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis conducted at a secondary school in Indonesia. The results indicate that the school principal holds a pivotal role in advancing education quality, which is carried out through several strategies, such as reinforcing visionary leadership, enhancing teacher competencies via training and academic supervision, fostering a positive school culture, and strengthening collaboration with parents and the wider community. Moreover, the principal incorporates information technology into both administrative functions and the teaching-learning process. The study concludes that the success of a principal’s strategy largely depends on managerial expertise, effective communication, and the collective support of all school stakeholders. These insights are intended to serve as a valuable reference for policymakers in developing strategic initiatives aimed at sustainable improvement in educational quality

This study aims to conduct an in-depth investigation into the influence between the implementation of educational supervision and teachers’ professional performance, as well as its implications for the enhancement of educational quality at SMA Negeri 1 Kuala. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey design, in which structured questionnaires served as the primary data collection instrument. The sample comprised 38 respondents selected from a total population of 38 teachers. Data were gathered through systematically administered questionnaires to obtain empirical insights into teachers' perceptions of existing supervisory practices. In this context, educational supervision functions as a strategic instrument in fostering teachers’ professional competencies through structured guidance, continuous evaluation, and the provision of constructive feedback. The findings indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between educational supervision and improved teacher performance, as evidenced by increased instructional effectiveness, greater work discipline, and enhanced pedagogical capabilities. This improvement in teacher performance, in turn, contributes to the overall elevation of educational quality, reflected both in students’ academic achievements and in the general academic climate of the school. Accordingly, a systematic, sustainable, and needs-based supervisory framework constitutes a critical determinant in driving quality transformation at the senior secondary education level.
