Abstract

This study aims to identify, analyse, and design movement and mobility intervention programmes for students with mobility impairments in inclusive schools and special needs schools (SLB). Through a comprehensive multi-source approach, this study explores a systematic assessment framework that includes the identification of mobility impairments, assessment of gross and fine motor skills, and evaluation of mobility issues including orientation, independence, and coordination. Data were collected from three main sources: assessment instruments from Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, the Inclusive Education Implementation Guidelines from the Ministry of Education and Culture, and practical guidelines from SLB-A Pembina Jakarta. The results of the study indicate that motor skills assessment must be conducted in a multi-dimensional manner involving a multidisciplinary team of professionals. The main findings identified 11 movement competencies with 37 specific assessment indicators, a percentage-based quantitative assessment system, and a qualitative approach based on independence. This article also presents recommendations for structured and personalised intervention programmes based on the assessment results, including structured motor exercises, school environment modifications, and inter-professional collaboration. The implementation of this comprehensive assessment is expected to improve the quality of inclusive education services and the independence of students with mobility impairments.

Abstract

This research seeks to provide a comprehensive description and analysis of the strategies employed by school principals in enhancing educational quality within the school setting. Utilizing a qualitative approach with a case study design, data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and document analysis conducted at a secondary school in Indonesia. The results indicate that the school principal holds a pivotal role in advancing education quality, which is carried out through several strategies, such as reinforcing visionary leadership, enhancing teacher competencies via training and academic supervision, fostering a positive school culture, and strengthening collaboration with parents and the wider community. Moreover, the principal incorporates information technology into both administrative functions and the teaching-learning process. The study concludes that the success of a principal’s strategy largely depends on managerial expertise, effective communication, and the collective support of all school stakeholders. These insights are intended to serve as a valuable reference for policymakers in developing strategic initiatives aimed at sustainable improvement in educational quality

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth investigation into the influence between the implementation of educational supervision and teachers’ professional performance, as well as its implications for the enhancement of educational quality at SMA Negeri 1 Kuala. A quantitative approach was employed using a survey design, in which structured questionnaires served as the primary data collection instrument. The sample comprised 38 respondents selected from a total population of 38 teachers. Data were gathered through systematically administered questionnaires to obtain empirical insights into teachers' perceptions of existing supervisory practices. In this context, educational supervision functions as a strategic instrument in fostering teachers’ professional competencies through structured guidance, continuous evaluation, and the provision of constructive feedback. The findings indicate a positive and statistically significant relationship between educational supervision and improved teacher performance, as evidenced by increased instructional effectiveness, greater work discipline, and enhanced pedagogical capabilities. This improvement in teacher performance, in turn, contributes to the overall elevation of educational quality, reflected both in students’ academic achievements and in the general academic climate of the school. Accordingly, a systematic, sustainable, and needs-based supervisory framework constitutes a critical determinant in driving quality transformation at the senior secondary education level.

Abstract

ABSTRACT The low level of students’ interest and literacy skills in elementary schools remains a crucial issue in Indonesian language learning. This study aims to examine the impact of the “Cinta Bahasa Indonesia” (Love for the Indonesian Language) program on improving the learning motivation and literacy skills of fifth-grade students at MI NWDI Reban Tebu. The research employed a quantitative approach using a one-group pretest–posttest design. The participants were 24 students from class VB who took part in a collaborative literacy activity conducted by teachers and teaching assistant program students over a four-week period. Data were collected through literacy skill tests covering reading and writing aspects and learning interest questionnaires administered before and after the program. The results revealed a significant improvement in students’ literacy skills, with the average score increasing from 67.5 to 85.3, and learning interest rising by approximately 24%. The statistical analysis showed a p-value < 0.05, indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. These findings demonstrate that the “Cinta Bahasa Indonesia” program effectively enhances students’ literacy and learning motivation through interactive, participatory, and enjoyable learning experiences. Furthermore, the program fosters students’ appreciation for Bahasa Indonesia as the language of national identity. Therefore, it is recommended that such initiatives be implemented continuously in elementary schools to strengthen early literacy culture. Keywords: Cinta Bahasa Indonesia, basic literacy, learning interest, Indonesian language, elementary school.

Abstract

This article explores the instructional design of Indonesian Language and Arts learning in Phase C of elementary school (Grades 5 and 6), emphasizing contextual, reflective, and values-based approaches. Responding to challenges such as students’ low proficiency in composing expository and argumentative texts and their limited interest in extended reading, this study proposes a literacy model grounded in critical pedagogy and local culture. Drawing on constructivist theory (Piaget, Vygotsky), genre-based pedagogy (Rose & Martin), and critical literacy (Freire), the learning design integrates contextual teaching, collaborative methods, and structured reading-writing techniques. Discovery Learning, Problem-Based Learning, and Project-Based Learning are employed to foster active engagement, critical thinking, and cultural relevance. Implemented at SD Negeri Jejeg 01, the design led to significant improvements in students’ critical literacy, ethical communication, and cultural identity. The study highlights the importance of humanistic and locally rooted pedagogy in shaping literate, reflective, and character-driven learners.

Abstract

Environmental education has evolved from raising basic awareness to integrating complex sustainability concepts and interdisciplinary skills in the curriculum since the 20th century. This study is a Systematic Literature Review and Bibliometric Analysis which aims to map research trends, keyword networks, and implications of environmental literacy research in basic education on the achievement of sustainable development goals. A study was conducted on 21 scientific articles that have gone through the inclusion and exclusion stages. The results of the study show that there is a fluctuating trend in environmental literacy research in primary education, but it tends to increase in 2024 and 2025. The keyword "environmental literacy" is a keyword that often appears and is often researched. Environmental literacy has profound transformative implications for efforts to achieve Sustainable Development (SDGs). The main implication is the shift in research focus from the purely cognitive dimension to the reinforcement of affective dimensions and pro-environmental behaviors, which are essential prerequisites for the transition to a sustainable society

Abstract

The quality of primary education in Indonesia continues to face major challenges, particularly concerning regional disparities, literacy achievement, and teacher competence. Post-reform decentralization policies granted local governments broad authority over education management, including teacher distribution, budget allocation, and curriculum adjustments tailored to local needs. However, these policies have not fully improved educational quality due to bureaucratic limitations, budget politicization, and fiscal capacity gaps among regions. Meanwhile, local culture plays an ambivalent role. Cultural values such as cooperation, consensus, and traditional wisdom can strengthen character education and contextual learning, while certain practices, such as early marriage, gender bias, or excessive reliance on local languages, hinder school participation. This study employed a literature review method by examining academic sources, national reports, and relevant international studies. The findings reveal that decentralization and local culture exhibit both complementary and conflicting impacts on primary education quality. Their synergy can enhance educational outcomes if managed with transparent governance, data-driven policies, and selective integration of positive cultural values. These results highlight the importance of aligning political decentralization with cultural management to sustainably improve the quality of primary education in Indonesia.

Abstract

Educator and education personnel standards are an important component of national education standards that aim to ensure the quality of learning in schools. Educators are required to have pedagogical, professional, social, and personal competencies in order to carry out their role as educators and role models for students. Meanwhile, education personnel function to support the administrative, managerial, and technical aspects that support the learning process. The implementation of these standards encourages increased professionalism through certification programs, ongoing training, and regular performance evaluations. With the existence of standards for educators and educational personnel, the quality of education is expected to be more assured, the learning atmosphere will be more conducive, and national education goals can be achieved. In addition, the implementation of these standards also emphasizes that the success of education does not only depend on teachers in the classroom, but also on educational personnel who ensure that educational services run effectively.
