Abstract

Improving students’ understanding of chemistry can be supported by learning resources linked to everyday life, such as integrating chemistry with local wisdom. Yet, many teachers still face challenges in identifying scientific concepts within Sasambo ethnochemistry due to limited knowledge of its types, processes, and meanings. To address this issue, a socialization program was conducted to strengthen teachers’ understanding of the application of Sasambo-based ethnochemistry teaching materials. The program involved 31 chemistry teachers from both public and private high schools in East Lombok Regency, representing diverse age ranges and teaching experiences. The activity received positive responses from participants. Results of the pretest and posttest revealed a significant shift from the low knowledge category to the good and very good categories. This indicates that the socialization effectively enhanced teachers’ comprehension of both the concepts and applications of ethnochemistry in chemistry instruction. These findings highlight that socialization serves not only as a medium for knowledge transfer but also as an initial step in preparing teachers to design contextual teaching resources systematically, rooted in local cultural values.

Abstract

Perlindungan keanekaragaman hayati menjadi isu global yang harus ditangani secara serius. Salah satu keanekaragaman hayati tersebut adalah tanaman mangga. Mangga menjadi salah satu komoditi unggulan yang ada di kabupaten Indramayu. Namun, dari tahun ke tahun produksi mangga pada kabupaten ini tidak konsisten (naik, turun) khususnya di daerah kecamatan Sliyeg. Melihat permasalahan tersebut PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Integrated Terminal Balongan hadir dalam rangka merealisasikan suatu program inovatif guna mengatasi permasalahan tersebut. Inovasi tersebut diberi nama Hydrolink – Automatic Drip Irrigation System Terintegrasi Website pada budidaya mangga di area greenhouse Desa Sliyeg Lor, karena daerah ini menjadi kawasan pemberdayaan oleh PT tersebut. Dengan desain studi kasus deskriptif, studi dokumentasi sebagai metode pengumpulan data dilakukan pada penelitian ini guna mengeksplorasi dampak dari program inovasi tersebut. Hasilnya, program tersebut sangat berdampak kepada lingkungan dan tanaman (khususnya mangga), penghematan biaya, tenaga yang keluarkan oleh petani, sosial-ekonomi masyarakat, teknologi inovatif yang ramah lingkungan, program-program yang bersifat lokal bahkan internasional. Dengan kesimpulan, program ini dapat dijadikan sebagai solusi yang mutakhir, khususnya pada sektor pertanian.

Abstract

Guru yang ada di SMAN 1 Sekotong masih mengalami kesulitan dalam menentukan topik pembelajaran yang diintegrasikan dengan proyek pengutan profil pelajar Pancasila (P5). Karena itu dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian yang bertujuan untuk memperkuat kapasitas dan melakukan pendampingan pada guru yang ada di SMAN 1 Sekotong dalam mengimplementasikan P5 berbasis potensi ekowisata mangrove di kawasan Bagek Kembar. Penguatan kapasitas guru dilakukan melalui serangkaian kegiatan yaitu sosialisasi, pelatihan, dan pendampingan pada guru yang terdiri dari (1) Pengenalan potensi ekowisata mangrove Bagek Kembar (jenis mangrove, pembibitan, penanaman, dan pemeliharaan); (2) Pendampingan dalam penyusunan kurikulum P5 berbasis ekowisata; dan (3) Workshop penyusunan program kerja P5. Hasil kegiatan pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa pendampingan berperan penting untuk membantu guru memahami tahapan penyusunan kurikulum, mulai dari identifikasi kesiapan sekolah, pemilihan dimensi dan tema P5, hingga perancangan modul proyek yang sesuai dengan karakteristik siswa. Disamping itu, keberhasilan implementasi P5 sangat dipengaruhi oleh keterlibatan aktif guru sebagai fasilitator, dukungan kepala sekolah, serta kolaborasi dengan masyarakat sekitar.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk melakukan sosialisasi mengenai peran strategis Pendamping Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) dalam upaya meningkatkan kesejahteraan sosial dan pemenuhan Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM) Generasi Kedua, khususnya hak ekonomi, sosial, dan budaya, bagi Keluarga Penerima Manfaat (KPM) di Kecamatan Pringgabaya, Kabupaten Lombok Timur. Kegiatan ini difokuskan pada pemberian pemahaman kepada masyarakat dan Pendamping PKH mengenai pentingnya tugas pendamping dalam memastikan pelaksanaan Program Keluarga Harapan (PKH) berjalan efektif. Selain itu, sosialisasi ini bertujuan untuk memberikan solusi atas berbagai kendala yang dihadapi dalam implementasi program, sehingga manfaat PKH dapat dirasakan secara maksimal oleh KPM. Melalui pendekatan partisipatif, pengabdian ini mencakup penyampaian materi tentang konsep HAM Generasi Kedua, strategi pemberdayaan sosial, dan penguatan kapasitas Pendamping PKH dalam mendukung kesejahteraan sosial. Kegiatan ini juga melibatkan diskusi, pelatihan, dan simulasi, serta mendokumentasikan praktik terbaik yang dapat diterapkan secara luas. Dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif, sosialisasi ini dirancang untuk membangun sinergi antara pendamping, KPM, dan berbagai pihak terkait di Kecamatan Pringgabaya. Hasil yang diharapkan adalah peningkatan kesadaran dan kapasitas pendamping dalam melaksanakan peran mereka, serta penguatan kesejahteraan sosial masyarakat di wilayah tersebut. Pengabdian ini juga diharapkan dapat memberikan kontribusi positif dalam mendukung kebijakan pemerintah di bidang sosial, ekonomi, dan budaya.

Abstract

Abstract: One form of utilization of aquatic resources is mangrove forest vegetation. The potential of mangroves in Indonesia is very large because it has several types of mangroves that thrive. Pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris) is one type of mangrove fruit that grows abundantly throughout the coastal areas of Langsa-Aceh. The business of processing mangroves into food products has not been widely developed and is of interest to coastal communities. One of the processed foods made from jam can be made from the heating process of a mixture of fruit pulp and sugar. Pedada fruit can be processed into a healthy jam by reducing sugar in the processing process which is replaced with stevia. The process of making jam from pedada fruit (Sonneratia caseolaris) with the addition of stevia sweetener begins with cleaning the material, namely pedada fruit. The next process is mixing the pulp of the pedada fruit and adding stevia sugar, then the heating, thickening and cooling process is carried out. The process ends with packaging. The production of healthy jam from pedada fruit can improve the economy of the community. Therefore, the PKM Team of Samudra University wanted to help the economy of Biruen residents by making education on processing pedada fruit into healthy jam. The hope is that the pedada fruit jam product can become a new business for the community and can increase the UMKM of the Bireum community. Abstract

The use of home gardens as a source of food and for improving family nutrition is increasingly recognized as a solution for strengthening family food security. This initiative aims to shift the mindset of the community in Pasinggangan Village, Banyumas District, in transforming previously unproductive backyard spaces into sources of fresh food, particularly vegetables, family medicinal plants (TOGA), and fish farming using an aquaponics system (budikdamber). The program involves 35 homemakers who are members of the PKK organization in Pasinggangan Village. The methods used include socialization, interactive discussions, field demonstrations, and the distribution of seeds and chili plant seedlings. The results of the activity show significant changes in the utilization of previously vacant yards into productive land for growing vegetables and medicinal plants, as well as the implementation of the budikdamber system for fish farming. Participants expressed high levels of satisfaction and continued the activities by forming backyard farming groups as a form of program sustainability. This program makes an important contribution to enhancing community awareness, knowledge, and skills regarding sustainable agriculture. However, ongoing guidance and further training are needed to address technical challenges and improve the availability of organic fertilizers in the community. This program is expected to be replicated in other areas with similar characteristics to support national food security.

Abstract

Ganesha Mukti Village, located in Banyuasin Regency, is a peatland-based agricultural area facing challenges such as low soil fertility and high acidity. This community service initiative aims to empower farmers through the application of a bio-pyrolysis reactor using rice husks as feedstock, offering a solution for agricultural waste management and soil quality improvement. Activities included focus group discussions (FGDs), technical training, equipment demonstrations, and participatory evaluations. Results showed a significant increase in farmers’ understanding—from 30–60% (pre-test) to 80–85% (post-test)—and 77.5% of participants expressed readiness to operate the technology independently.The bio-pyrolysis reactor produces two main outputs: biochar and liquid smoke, both of which serve as soil ameliorants and environmentally friendly inputs for peatland farming. Laboratory analysis revealed that biochar contains substantial macronutrients—nitrogen (0.74–0.91%), phosphorus (0.129–0.174%), and potassium (0.76–0.87%)—comparable to conventional organic fertilizers and chemically more stable, thus enhancing peat soil fertility. Meanwhile, the liquid smoke contains nitrogen (0.16%), phosphorus (0.057%), and potassium (0.001%), which, although low, still contributes as a supplementary nutrient source and functions as a botanical pesticide and eco-friendly pest control agent.The synergy between rice husk-derived biochar and liquid smoke is considered effective in boosting agricultural productivity, reducing dependence on inorganic inputs, and supporting sustainable farming systems on peatlands.

Abstract

This community service program aimed to empower Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Dungaliyo Village, Dungaliyo Sub-district, Gorontalo Regency through training in beef processing based on the ASUH principles (Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal). The training was conducted using a participatory and hands-on approach, involving 30 participants consisting of MSME actors and housewives. The training materials included education on ASUH principles, technical skills for processing value-added beef products such as shredded beef, meatballs, and nuggets, as well as the introduction of simple processing technology and packaging methods. The results of the program showed a significant increase in participants' knowledge and skills regarding hygienic and economically valuable beef processing. The products made during the training met food safety standards and showed potential for further development as independent businesses. Participants' enthusiasm also reflected a growing spirit of local entrepreneurship. This program contributed to strengthening the village's economic capacity and serves as a replicable empowerment model based on local potential

Abstract

Abstract Climate change is a global phenomenon characterized by changes in patterns, intensity, or shifts in key climate parameters that impact ecosystems and human life. The effects of climate change are increasingly being felt, necessitating effective mitigation and adaptation efforts. The government has initiated the Climate Village Program (ProKlim) as an integrated strategy to reduce the impacts of climate change through local actions. Wonoasri Village, which directly borders the Meru Betiri National Park (TNMB), has implemented various environmental mitigation strategies, such as the development of alley forests and home gardens. However, mitigation efforts in the agricultural sector remain limited. The agricultural system applied in Wonoasri Village still largely relies on the use of chemical inputs, including fertilizers and pesticides, to support plant growth and resilience. The use of these chemicals has led to ecosystem degradation, as evidenced by the decline in populations of pollinating insects, birds, and other beneficial insects. Moreover, the excessive use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides has caused environmental damage, such as soil hardening and increased plant resistance to pests and diseases. In response to these issues, TNMB has collaborated with farmer groups through the Community-Based Forest Conservation Institution (LMDHK) to develop a low-emission agricultural system. Since 2017, initiatives have been implemented to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers by replacing them with solid organic fertilizers and liquid organic fertilizers (POC) derived from cattle and goat manure waste. This community service program aims to equip LMDHK members with the skills to process green waste into organic nutrient sources, particularly nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K), which serve as organic fertilizers. Additionally, they are trained in producing botanical pesticides from green waste as an alternative to chemical pesticides for controlling plant pests and diseases. The primary goal of this initiative is to establish a low-emission agricultural system through the optimization of green waste utilization as a plant nutrient source and botanical pesticide. The implementation of this program is expected to help farmers reduce their dependence on chemical fertilizers and pesticides, thereby lowering agricultural production costs. Furthermore, this effort contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions through a sustainable agricultural system. The program is carried out through a series of activities, including program socialization, workshops on the production of organic NPK fertilizers and botanical pesticides, as well as monitoring and evaluation. The successful implementation of this program has resulted in organic fertilizer and botanical pesticide products that can be utilized by farmers as a concrete step towards achieving more environmentally friendly and sustainable agriculture. Abstract

Terumbu karang memiliki peranan ekologis dan ekonomi yang sangat penting, khususnya bagi Pulau Lombok yang dikenal sebagai destinasi wisata bahari internasional sekaligus lumbung perikanan nasional. Namun, ekosistem ini terus mengalami penurunan kualitas, termasuk di wilayah pesisir Kabupaten Lombok Barat, salah satunya di kawasan Pantai Cemara. Kondisi tersebut menuntut adanya kesadaran kolektif dan partisipasi aktif dari berbagai pihak dalam menjaga serta merehabilitasi terumbu karang. Universitas Mataram, sebagai institusi akademik, turut berkontribusi melalui pemikiran dan implementasi program percontohan rehabilitasi. Salah satu metode yang dinilai sederhana, ekonomis, dan efektif untuk pemulihan terumbu karang adalah teknik transplantasi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk membuat demplot percontohan rehabilitasi terumbu karang dengan menggunakan metode transplantasi di kawasan pesisir Pantai Cemara, Kabupaten Lombok Barat. Program dilaksanakan secara partisipatif selama tiga bulan pada tahun 2024 dengan tahapan meliputi survei lokasi, koordinasi dengan pemangku kepentingan lokal, pembuatan media transplantasi, penempatan media pada lokasi rehabilitasi, pemilihan induk karang, pengambilan fragmen karang, serta pemasangan transplantasi pada media yang telah disiapkan dan pemasangan tanda lokasi transplantasi. Diharapkan kegiatan ini dapat menjadi model percontohan sekaligus memberikan motivasi bagi masyarakat dan pemangku kepentingan dalam mendukung upaya konservasi dan rehabilitasi ekosistem terumbu karang.
