Abstract

Case method and team-based learning are two key performance indicators (KPIs) implemented by the Ministry of Education and Culture Number 3/M/2021. Case-method and team-based projects are learning that is imposed on students to improve students’ critical thinking skills, solve problems, find solutions, and develop communication skills. This learning is also helpful for lecturers to improve higher abilities and skills. This research aims to test the Determinant Model for applying the Case Method and Team-Based Project in the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Achievement Policy for Higher Education. This research used quantitative methods with a survey design. Data collection used a research instrument in the form of a questionnaire, which had been declared valid and reliable. Furthermore, the data collected was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics using path analysis techniques. The research concludes that using the case method model in higher education is significantly related to improving the key performance indicators for higher education.

Abstract

Research related to ethnoscience from culture, local wisdom, and local potential in Indonesia in the last seven years has developed, but there are still few studies conducted in Physics Education. This study aims to identify and review ethnophysics research from various cultures in Indonesia. A systematic literature review method was used with four stages: identification, selection, eligibility, and inclusion. Of the 695 journal articles screened through Mendeley and Google Scholar applications, 12 were selected as research samples because they met the research criteria. The literature review shows that the cultural aspects studied are still limited to traditional dances, games, and houses. The research is also limited to several regions such as Jayapura, Demak, East Java, West Java, Jambi, West Sumatra, Aceh, South Sulawesi, and South Central Timor in a regional or ethnic context. The physics materials studied include measurement, waves, sound, reflection and refraction of light, lunar and solar eclipses, the concept of energy and its transformation, heat, density, gravity, Newton's law, balance, work, force, motion, magnetic fields, and electric fields. Further research can be done through cultural studies, local wisdom, or local potential from unreached areas in Indonesia. The findings of this study indicate the need for a broader and deeper exploration of ethnoscience in physics education through culture, local wisdom, and other local potential in Indonesia as a learning resource for students in the classroom.

Abstract

The academic institution generally has management quality to measure lecturer performance. It can be estimated from two variables: leadership behavior and organizational culture. This variable needs to be analyzed to determine the relationship between its parameters and forms as correlations strength for identifying the lecturer's performance. This paper proposed a new approach to measure a correlation with two variables, namely the leadership variable and the organizational culture variable. Correlation measurement adopts the Pearson Correlation. It aims to define the correlation strength. Thus, it can show the quality of lecturer performance in an academic institution. Correlation measurement uses seven parameters on leadership variables and seven measurement parameters from organizational culture variables. The experiment shows that five parameter pairs in the two variables have a strong correlation. The highest positive correlation strength is obtained at 0.321 in routine evaluation with behavior parameters. The approaches can be used to determine the lecturer's reward.

Abstract

This research is triggered by the lack of students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. A digital module assists in delivering engaging lessons. This research aims to examine the effectiveness of the Project-based Learning (PjBL) model based on the Digital Module to improve students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. This research applied the research and development (RD) model proposed by Borg and Gall (1982). The method was modified into three research and development steps, including (1) preliminary study, (2) development, and (3) evaluation. The research was conducted at Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang. The research subjects were 47 students of the Aviation Rescue and Firefighting Department. The data collection method used a questionnaire and test. Based on the data analysis, most students strongly agreed to use the digital module to improve students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. The use of the PjBL model based on the digital module affects significantly students’ conceptual understanding of Aviation English. This is demonstrated by the average scores of post-test results for the control and experimental classes are 70.57 and 80.03 respectively.

Abstract

Discovery learning is a model designed to tackle the issue of low learning achievement. However, typically, research on discovery learning mainly focuses on outcomes to enhance specific abilities partially. Yet, discovery learning is also associated with physiological aspects. This study aims to determine the discovery of learning influence on learning achievement and serotonin. This is an experimental study. The independent variable (x) is discovery learning, whereas the dependent variables (y) are student achievement and serotonin. The statistical test used the paired sample t-test. Other data related to students' learning skills in the classroom using discovery learning were observed and analyzed with the descriptive qualitative method. There were significant differences in learning achievement and serotonin levels before and after the implementation of discovery learning. The average scores before and after the implementation of discovery learning were 46.75 and 78.55, respectively. The average hormone levels before and after the implementation of discovery learning were 719.25 and 1420.59 ng/mL, respectively. The implementation of discovery learning increases serotonin levels, thus optimizing student learning achievement. Following this research finding, research on how to increase serotonin levels through other learning methods needs to be conducted to explore many best practices that affect students' achievement.
