Abstract

This study examines how creating multimedia content production can help ninth grade students read the Qur'an more effectively. Students of SMPN 5 Pallangga, Gowa Regency. Analyzing the efficacy of learning strategies that combine text, audio, visual, and video media is the main objective of this study. The Classroom Action Research (CAR) approach, used in this study, was carried out in two cycles: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. All research participants were ninth grade students. A. After the implementation of multimedia-based learning, the research findings showed a significant increase in the quality of students' Qur'an reading. Before the intervention, 28.94% of students met the completion criteria; in the first cycle, the figure increased to 60.52%, and in the second cycle, it increased to 89.47%. Students showed improvements in self-confidence, tenacity, and willingness to learn in addition to improving their proficiency in reading the Qur'an. These results indicate that creating multimedia content can be a useful tactic in teaching Islamic Religious Education, especially in terms of improving the standard of Qur'an reading. It is recommended that educators use this approach consistently to optimize learning outcomes, foster an engaging learning environment, and help students develop their attitudes and personalities. In addition to making learning materials easier to understand and more engaging, this method fosters a learning environment that helps students' attitudes and character development in religious education.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of differentiated learning within the Merdeka Curriculum in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for Grade XI students at SMAN 13 Padang. A qualitative approach with a phenomenological method was employed, with the researcher acting as the main instrument assisted by interview guides, observation sheets, and documentation formats. Data were collected through interviews with teachers, students, and the vice principal, classroom observations, and documentation of teaching materials and student evaluations. The data were analyzed through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, while data credibility was ensured using source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that differentiated learning implementation was carried out in three stages. First, in the planning stage, teachers conducted diagnostic assessments to map students’ readiness, interests, and learning profiles as the basis for developing learning modules and adaptive strategies. Second, in the implementation stage, teachers adjusted the content, process, and product of learning to suit students’ characteristics through creative techniques such as appreciation, ice breaking, MARSHA, crossword puzzles, and group discussions. Third, in the evaluation stage, authentic formative and summative assessments were applied, including oral and written tests as well as attitude assessments. The results emphasize contextual understanding, active student engagement, and the internalization of religious values. This study provides empirical evidence that differentiated learning can be effectively implemented in PAI, offering both theoretical implications for instructional design and practical recommendations for teachers in applying the Merdeka Curriculum. Keywords: Differentiated Larning; Merdeka curriculum; Islamic Religious Education

Abstract

This study analyzes the paradox of multicultural education in West Sumatra, where the Minangkabau traditional philosophy, rich in egalitarian and tolerant values, has not been optimally integrated into the formal education system, triggering a crisis marked by religious intolerance, bullying, and ethnic tensions. Using a qualitative approach with hermeneutic methods and content analysis of policy documents, media reports (2024-2025), and academic literature, this study identifies systemic failures in Banks' five dimensions of multicultural education: Prejudice Reduction (religious intolerance), Equity Pedagogy and Empowering School Culture (bullying), and Content Integration and Knowledge Construction (ethnic tension). The findings show that the crisis is not caused by the absence of tolerance values, but rather by the failure to translate traditional philosophy into concrete practice. This study proposes a model for revitalizing Minangkabau traditional values as a contextual solution: (1) ABS-SBK interpreted inclusively to reduce prejudice; (2) deliberative consensus as the basis for equitable pedagogy; (3) the principles of "Duduak Samo Randah, Tagak Samo Tinggi" (sit low, stand tall) and "Dima Bumi Dipijak, Disinan Langik Dijunjuang" (wherever you step, that is where heaven is) to build an egalitarian school culture that respects diversity. The proposed "Contextual Multicultural Education" model synthesizes the universal principles of multicultural education with local wisdom, while adopting a critical approach that does not romanticize traditional values but interprets them transformatively. This research contributes theoretically by enriching the discourse on multicultural education through the perspective of Indigenous Knowledge, empirically by documenting concrete cases in West Sumatra, and practically by offering policy recommendations for the reformulation of local content curricula, teacher training based on local wisdom, and school culture transformation.

Abstract

Qur’anic literacy from an early age holds a crucial role in shaping the Islamic character of students, particularly at the elementary education level. However, the memorization achievements of Qur’an among students in public elementary schools remain varied and suboptimal. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Tikrar method in improving Qur’an memorization skills among students at SDN 41 Padang. The research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group. A total of 32 students were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through pretest and posttest memorization assessments and analyzed using the paired sample t-test with SPSS. The results showed a significant improvement in the experimental group compared to the control group (p-value = 0.000), indicating that the Tikrar method is effective in enhancing Qur’an memorization among public elementary school students. This study contributes to the reinforcement of Qur’anic literacy in schools and offers practical guidance in implementing a structured memorization method. It concludes that the Tikrar method can serve as an effective learning strategy to support the development of Islamic character education. Further research is recommended to be conducted over a longer period and to incorporate digital media to optimize students' memorization retention.

Abstract

The article Muhammadiyah Was Born in Java and Raised in Minangkabau: History, Intellectualism, and the Modern Islamic Movement discusses the history of the birth of Muhammadiyah as a Modern Islamic movement in Indonesia, focusing on Java as the birthplace and Minangkabau as the place of growth and development and the size of this organization. Muhammadiyah was founded by KH Ahmad Dahlan as a quick response to the condition of Muslims who were trapped in the practice of Tahayul, Bid'ah and Churafat (TBC), the weakness of the education system, the fading of religious thought and resistance to Dutch colonialism. Through qualitative analysis and a historical approach to various library sources, this research targets the causes of the birth, process of spread, acceptance and growth of Muhammadiyah in Minangkabau. The results of this research show that the social and intellectual conditions of Minangkabau society are very much in line with the spirit of reform or tajdid promoted by Muhammadiyah, such as the Islamic scientific tradition, the culture of going abroad for men, as well as the Minang philosophy, adat basandi syarak, syarak basandi kitabullah. This Minangkabau climate has supported the development of Muhammadiyah in Minangkabau, not only as an Islamic organization but also as an intellectual force, impacting educational reform, Islamic thought, and progressive Islam. Consequently, the phrase "Muhammadiyah was born in Java and grew up in Minangkabau" illustrates the historical process of complementarity between Muhammadiyah's ideas and local Minangkabau culture. Keywords: Muhammadiyah, Minangkabau, Intellectualism, Modern Islamic Movement

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of implementing the Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) strategy based on the Pancasila Student Profile (P5) on reading comprehension skills in integrated thematic learning for fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 07 Sikabu Munto, Pesisir Selatan. The study was motivated by the low reading comprehension abilities among students, indicated by limited concentration when reading, difficulty understanding text content, and challenges in drawing conclusions from passages. The research employed an experimental method with a posttest-only control design. The sample consisted of two classes: an experimental class taught using the P5-based DRTA strategy and a control class taught using conventional instruction. Reading comprehension data were obtained through a posttest, and the results were analyzed using normality tests, homogeneity tests, and an independent samples t-test. The results showed that the experimental group achieved a higher mean score (M = 82.5) compared to the control group (M = 72.3). The independent t- test indicated a significant difference between the two groups (t(48) = 3.27, p 0.01), confirming that students who received DRTA-based P5 instruction demonstrated significantly better reading comprehension skills. The P5-based DRTA strategy effectively guided students to make predictions, focus attention, verify understanding, and construct deeper meaning from texts. In conclusion, the P5-based DRTA strategy is effective for improving students’ reading

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of moral values among Islamic boarding school students based on the thoughts of Burhanuddin al-Zarnuji as described in the book Ta'lim al- Muta'allim at the Darul 'Ulum Islamic Boarding School in Padang. The type of research used is field research with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data was obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, which were then analyzed in depth to describe the application of moral values in the lives of santri. The results of the study show that the process of moral character building at the Darul 'Ulum Islamic Boarding School has been going well and reflects the main values in Ta'lim al-Muta'allim, such as respect for teachers, politeness, discipline, and manners towards knowledge and others. The main supporting factors for this success include the exemplary behavior of the teachers, the role of senior students, and a conducive and religious boarding school environment. However, the process of moral development still faces several obstacles, such as a lack of dormitory supervisors, limited facilities and infrastructure, and the influence of outside cultures that cannot be completely avoided. This study concludes that the character building of students at the Darul 'Ulum Islamic Boarding School has shown positive results, but needs to be strengthened in terms of guidance and supervision so that moral values are not only understood conceptually, but are truly internalized in the behavior and character of the students.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the zakat management of the Zakat Management Organization (OPZ) of Al-Ikhwan Mosque in empowering the community’s economy in Nagari Sungai Rumbai and Sungai Rumbai Timur, as well as its alignment with Social Safety Net (JPS) indicators for sustainable economic development. This qualitative research used a case study approach with units of analysis consisting of OPZ administrators, muzakki, and asnaf. The results show that the distribution of consumptive and productive zakat by Al-Ikhwan Mosque’s OPZ has contributed positively to the welfare of mustahik, especially through business capital assistance and systematic zakat distribution. However, program effectiveness still faces obstacles in business assistance, skills training, and long-term impact evaluation. Governance based on the IC COSO framework is adequate in internal control and reporting aspects but needs strengthening in risk assessment and two-way communication. This study produces an Integrated Zakat Management Model based on governance and social protection, which is expected to serve as a reference for other OPZs in developing zakat functions as instruments for community economic empowerment. Keywords: zakat, social safety net, mosque, economic empowerment, governance

Abstract

Contemporary Islamic Religious Education (PAI) is often hindered by a theoretical dichotomy that separates profound spiritual values (Al-Ghazali's psycho-spiritual focus on Qalb purification) from the necessities of social pragmatism and vocational skills (Ibn Khaldun's sociology of education). This gap compromises PAI's ultimate goal of forming holistic individuals (Insan Kamil). This research addresses this critical inadequacy by formulating an explicitly integrated model of developmental psychology for PAI. Employing a philosophical comparative methodology, robustly supported by a systematic review and synthesis of evidence from books and articles, the study analyzes the necessary convergence between Al-Ghazali’s framework and Ibn Khaldun’s pedagogy, including ‘Umran and Tadarruj (gradual learning). The central finding is the Progressive Ethical Habitus Model. This model resolves the classical philosophical conflict: it utilizes Ibn Khaldun’s structured, phased methodology as the essential practical framework for internalizing the spiritual and ethical content of Al-Ghazali. This integration ensures that moral values transition from theoretical understanding into a permanent, functional disposition (Habitus), successfully reconstructing PAI to produce graduates who are both spiritually robust and socially adaptive to complex global challenges and modern moral crises.
